Great for a quick bite. Always decently packed. The food was okay. Not memorable and/or amazing. The waitress also came and saw some dried food on my fork and wiped it off with her shirt and tried to put it back down on the table. This is why i gave a 3.

Wonderful family environment. Owners are hands on. Walk in an be happily greeted by the owners wife. The head cook is the owner himself. The service is fabulous, staff have worked there for years and get to know repeat customers. The food here is absolutely deeeelicious !!! Their pancakes must have a secret recipe! This is a must eat at Restaurant!

Great diner. The service was perfect, the food was a good, hearty breakfast food and the portions were huge. And the prices were reasonable enough to come back for more. This family owned restaurant would be in my regular rotation of breakfast spots if it wasn’t so far from my house.

Louie’s will always have a special place in my heart because I used to go here all the time in high school with my best friends. But fond memories aside, this place serves a mean breakfast. My personal favorite is the number 2 special — eggs, meat, and pancakes or French toast. I always get mine with scrambled eggs, sausage, and French toast. And why do I order the number 2 you ask? Because it’s amazing! The French toast is to die for. Definitely some of my favorite French toast on earth. They make it on nice thick bread and they’ll butter it for you and top it off with just a little powdered sugar. Yum! The sausage is also great. Delicious and not overly greasy. I also love their hash browns. They always get them perfectly crisped. My mom also really likes their grits. Now the physical restaurant is so so. It’s a typical diner. But what pushes Louie’s over the top is their staff. Everyone who works there is great! They’re all super friendly and greet all the regulars by name. It definitely feels like you’re with friends when you’re there. So if you’re looking for a quality diner breakfast, this is definitely it!

The best part about Lou’s is the price, everything else is average, nothing special to make this place stand out in my mind.

Solid diner food and what keeps us coming back is the proximity and super friendly service. The woman at the cash register is lovely, and she has a kind, pleasant way of interacting with everyone who walks in the door. Décor is fresh and clean. Food comes out fast. It’s nothing fancy, but that’s the point. It’s dependable.

Excellent clean non-greasy diner food. Great friendly service to boot. The prices are very reasonable as well. This is our go to breakfast brunch joint in the area. We often go to the fancy brunch spots in the city and often wished we had just come to Louie’s instead. For a diner the food always tastes fresh and I dream about the Athenian skillet. Love this place!

Worst biscuits and gravy I have ever had in my life and I’ve had a lot. Omelet dry and bland. Service great. Not recommend. Sorry.

Love, love, love this place. Thankfully, we arrived at 8 am today(Sunday) because when we left at 9, there was a wait! Clean. Friendly staff. Excellent food. My daughters loved the crepes and Mickey Mouse waffle. I loved and devoured my sausage and cheese omelette. I will return!!!

What a diner should be, fast, cheap, clean and GOOD. How have I not checked this place out before now? Had the Texas Omelette based upon reviews here on Unilocal.Get it. If chili on your eggs does NOT sound like your thing; GETIT, you will NOT be disappointed and it’s not as weird as it sounds. Also must get the grits if you like grits at all. Hame, cut off the bone, is another must have… but I am showing my bias as this is what I ordered and as it wa smy first time; for all I know everything is good, though my mother got the biscuits and gravy and loved hers(liked mine better). Will be back with the rest of the family next time.

I liked this place so much that I patronized them on two consecutive days. Service is amazing. The cashier is very personable and consistently greets every patron. My take out order included all condiments and napkins. It was also neatly wrapped and packaged. Counter service was also fabulous. The waitress was attentive and highly visible. There’s no surprise it has been around for 16 years and has since expanded. My experience and packed house at noon on Saturday was reflective of how this place fairs to other diners in the area. What should you order? Doubt you can go wrong. I have tried items on both the lunch and breakfast menu and both were delicious. Lunch Patty Melt — 5 stars***perfect! French Fries — 3 stars Breakfast Grits– 5 stars *** almost as good as much grandmother’s. Creamy, buttery and piping hot. Bacon– 4 stars; flavorful with no grease Eggs — 4 stars; ordered over medium and they were yummy Sausage links — 3 stars; decent but I could do without them and only had them because it came with the order.

Let me start off by saying that the staff was extremely welcoming. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to compensate for some of the worst breakfast food my husband and I have ever had. While I realize this is simple diner food, I had a hard time choosing something that sounded appealing. I figured scrambled eggs and french toast were safe. Upon ordering the waitress asked if I wanted butter on my french toast, and I said, «yes». When my food arrived the the french toast was slathered in butter. Well, I did ask for it… I recommend asking for it on the side unless you REALLY love butter. My scrambled eggs were undercooked/runny as h### and were in a pool of oil??? As were my husbands fried eggs, grits and sausage patties. Was it cooking oil? Was it butter? Who knows, but it was absolutely disgusting. Between that and the overwhelming smell of bleach/cleaner we just wanted out. I ate only the french toast as the slimy eggs were inedible. My husband ate his toast, a little of the fried egg(after soaking up the oil with napkin), and he ate the meat side that came with my meal. The rest we left, including the sausage patties which he didn’t care for, and this guy will eat just about any meat product you put in front of him! We wanted to like this local corner spot, but needless to say we won’t be returning. The only reason I gave this two stars was because the staff was so friendly and attentive. I just couldn’t bring myself to tell them how terrible the food was. Well I guess I have now.

Louie’s Grill is a great diner with fast service and good food. I’ve been here a few times, always on the weekends and it’s usually packed. However, you can usually get a seat for 2 at the counter without waiting very long and there’s something really relaxing about sitting there. As soon as you sit, your coffee cup is filled and you’re asked if you want a newspaper to read. Food is cranking out and within 5 minutes, I have my order. I love the corned beef hash omelette and the texas omelette that I affectionately refer to as the hangover omelette with chili and cheese. Definitely will keep coming back!

My first time at this classic style diner. This place is exactly what you would expect or imagine. The staff were so friendly with me I half expected them to know my name already! I ordered biscuits & gravy w 2 eggs over medium. It was yummy and I finished my plate. Honestly the food here isn’t going to blow your mind, it’s good home style cooking that’s fast & cheap with a great old fashioned diner atmosphere. I’m a very nostalgic person so this place was great

Simple breakfasts, omelets, eggs, French Toast, pancakes. And they are all pretty good. I have not been there for lunch. But breakfast is pretty good. The People who work there are always friendly, which is always a plus. The food has always been top notch. I really enjoyed their French Toast with a side of ham. Though I may bring a bottle of sugar free syrup, they have agave nectar and though it is sweet, it does not taste like maple. But I have never had a complaint and they service is quick and you still do not fee rushed.

Louie’s is a great breakfast spot. My wife and I learned of Louie’s from her sister and her husband. What a great recommendation. I’m a fan of eggs Benedict, which I know is an“love it or hate it” type of breakfast dish. I also like their pancakes, french toast, and waffles. My brother in law always gets their steak plate for breakfast and it is good. The coffee is a bit weak, and so is their OJ, so I just stick to water. Their Greek and Mediterranean omlette a/skillets are also very good. Good service is what sets Louie’s apart. Service with a smile is what makes going out for breakfast just that much more enjoyable. Any restaurant in Oak Park will have a wait. Wait time here ranges from 10 – 20 minutes on the weekend. Prices here are good. They are a tad bit cheaper than other diners in the area. Expect to pay around $ 10-$ 12/pp including tip depending on what you ordered.

Quick and friendly service. Deliciously fluffy and buttery pancakes. This is my spot to visit when I am looking to cure my pancake fix. No crazy flavors or toppings, just tasty tasty pancakes with butter and syrup. Also any breakfast dish with their gyro meat, preferably the skillet or omelette, are great as well. Always jamming on the weekends for breakfast but worth the wait. The bar usually has open seating for quicker service.
