This is such an awful place. Be really careful going here. I’ve been there 3 times, and all 3 times the staff have been rude and inattentive, and once they overcharged me. After they charged me more than they should have, they said there was nothing they could do and I would need to talk to the manager, who was not in until 3 days later. The salon is dirty and not well managed at all. One of the towels smelled like it hadn’t been washed. Disgusting. I would recommend going somewhere else in the Oak Park area.

I also moved to Oak Park from the city and was looking for a little color during the colder months. Although I don’t miss the wait, I guess you could say I do miss the cleanliness, price and extended hours of my old membership at Ultimate Exposure. When I first walked in, there was a teenager working the front desk who looked as if she just got out of bed. While texting she hardly looked up while asking for my last name. Although that would be great if I was a regular client, I had never stepped foot through the front door. I noticed something about a new client deal on a taped up piece of printer paper on the door(along with the other 25 pieces) offering additional promotions/packages. But, it was only at a quick glance as I walked in. The girl at the front desk asked me for my license and started entering it into the computer. Without asking if it was current, quickly started typing in the addresses listed on my license before I had to stop her with my current info. I had yet to even tell her that I was looking to purchase a tanning package, so I thought that was a bit strange. I then had to ask what packages &/or promotions were avaialble and she proceeded to tell me they were taped up on the windows outside. Was I suppose to go outside and read them? I looked around for a «menu» or list of what’s available, as I had yet to even hear about what types of beds they offer, etc. I noticed a white board on the wall(not even easily visible from the registration desk) which had a few packages listed. They all looked a bit expensive for such a «mom and pop» type place with bad lighting, horrible décor and well. who knows what was behind the tanning room doors. I then hear someone yell from one of the rooms(I guess she was cleaning a bed) who said, offer her the new client promotion! Three tanning sessions for $ 25 bucks. I asked what bed, and she said«the regular one with facial bulbs»… thankfully this wasn’t my first tanning session. She took my credit card, I signed some paperwork for legal purposes and was told bed #7 was ready. Once again, thankfully I had been tanning before. The bed fan was broken, the bed plastic was bubbled/warped from too much heat, and the boob box(a.k.a. tape player) didn’t turn on. I gave it an extra star because I personally don’t like to wait to go tanning. Then again, maybe that explains why there was no wait? I’ll go back for my next two sessions, mainly because I’ve already paid and its convenient. Not a horrible experience, but meh, I’ve had better.

I moved to Oak Park in 1996 and have been a customer of Maui Beach Tan for over ten years. Unlike most tanning salons, Maui Beach does not try and sell a tanning membership that requires the customer to commit to six months /year and only let them use the entry level beds. My wife and I both use the level three high intensity triple face tanning beds and love the way that they tan us after only a couple of sessions. This is a smaller salon, but they really know how to make the customer feel welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to tan on a budget and not wanting to have to sign up for a membership that they will only use during certain times of the year.

Since moving to Oak Park, I cancelled my beloved $ 19.99 a month tanning membership at L.A. Tan. In search of a new salon, I stopped into Maui Beach a few weeks ago to inquire about tanning packages. This place charges $ 80.00 a month for unlimited tanning and this only included beds without facial bulbs! Absurd! I opted to buy two sessions for $ 15.00, used one and called it a day. I have yet to go back, and I might wait until that one early winter day when I look at my arms in disgust and decide to start up my winter tanning régime once again. For now, the summer sun will do.
