When it comes to catfish, these folks do it right! Hands down, the best I’ve eaten.

This place has awesome Cajun style catfish. I always order mine extra spicy. The jambalaya is to die for… This place also has a large outside covered patio which you can bring a ice chest full of your favorite alcoholic drinks and enjoy some good food

This place is amazing best Cajun food I’ve had they r a mom and pop family owner end and operated. The owner patrick is a great man always doing good things for the community. U gotta try the redheads and dirty rice.

The food here is excellent. I don’t even like catfish, but their fried catfish is good. I recommend the shrimp po boy and french fries. The only negatives for this place or that the inside dining is a little bit cramped and it takes forever for them to get the food out. Fried or pre prepare dishes shouldn’t take this long. It’s good, but don’t go there if you’re in a hurry.

Delicious seasoning on their fries and the perfect crust on the fried catfish. Will definitely come back next time we are in Forney.

This unassuming Cajun joint has some of the best seafood in the Metroplex. It’s affordable and well worth the drive to Forney!

Great catfish and dirty rice — best I’ve had in several years. Not a lot of seating inside but food more than makes up for that. Other family member says the chicken is better than Chicken Express (that’s saying a LOT!!). Portions are healthy.

We ordered the 10 piece catfish family dinner with the two sides. The catfish was amazing! We even ordered it to go and 30 minutes later it was like we had just ordered it in the restaurant! The tarter sauce was on point and the amounts they gave you were big and worth the money. We got green beans which were delicious and cole slaw which was also delicious. We will be eating here again! Oh and the hush puppies were to die for! Mmmm

Doe Bellys tastes like driving out to your grandmamas house in the country on a Sunday and sitting in her kitchen while she fries you up some catfish.

If it comes out of a deep fryer, it will be really good here.

The hallmark of a truly good restaurant is consistency. When you can go to a place time and time again and get great food, it deserves recognition. I have noticed so many places that are over the place in consistency. This place is a great exception for a hard to find cuisine.
We always hit this place on the way back from Canton Trade days and have never been disappointed. Food is always freshly made and truly Cajun style. Highly recommended.
Good catfish is hard to find anymore in the Dallas area. Forney may not be that far to go.

Let’s be honest. Texas, for the most part, doesn’t love vegetarians. When in the Metroplex to visit family, I resign myself to eating side dishes and hoping for the best.
Well, the best veggie side dishes are at Doe Belly’s. The rest of my family can gorge on fried fish, and I can easily make a meal out of hush puppies, corn and fries. (English people– hush puppies are not actually made of puppies, so they’re OK for vegetarians!)
Staff is incredibly friendly, and this seems like an authentic, family-​run small business. It’s in the «downtown» of Forney, so slightly off the beaten track, but that also means it’s easy to get to from the 80, without the nightmare one-​way system of the big-​box shops on the other side of the highway.
There’s an enclosed patio if you want to eat outdoors, and they do a robust carryout business. Open Weds-​Sat. Check them out!

Decided to drive out to Forney TX on a Saturday for some family fun. When our first destination was a slight disappointment we started looking for a good lunch to lift our spirits. Boy did we nail it by stopping in here.
I am always on the hunt for the ultimate fried catfish fish. It’s just one of those things you grow up with in the south. Doe Belly’s is up there with the best of them. We all devoured our meals with intense elation. The fish was perfectly seasoned and fried, well done shrimp and tasty sides. The kids meal was less seasoned to ensure my little one got nothing spicy. He loved it!
Even though this is an hour drive for us, we will come back. If you are driving by or just interested in exploring new venues on your quest for great food you must stop in. It’s definitely worth the drive.

The Catfish Po’boy was the best thing I ate on my recent trip to Dallas. Worth going out of your way, and worth the 15 minute wait.

The place is Cajun/​NOLA inspired catfish eatery. From lovely colorful beads hanging from their walls, the Stevie Ray Vaughan playing overhead, and their NOLA art, I enjoyed the cozy interior.
Ordered the Thursday special: 2 catfish fillets, 4 shrimps with a drink ($ 8.49). The catfish I think was probably one of the best fried catfishes I’ve had in a loooong time. Perfectly fried, meaty and delicious. The shrimp were huge, firm, and again, felt like I was eating something meaty/​substantial. Even the hush puppies tasted perfect.
I also ordered a cup of the shrimp étouffée and the flavor instantly made me feel like I was back in NOLA.
Tip: The sweet tea is sweet!!! Literally and figuratively. Do you have diabetes? You will.
