Fort Bend County Toll Road

I had a temporary tag and updated my tag profile after 2 weeks. During that time, I got 4 separate invoices in the mail with notices ranging from 4 to 12 fees. No consistency between the 4 invoices, and why so many. When trying to confirm the charges, I missed one and they were quick to add another $20 to the fee. I tried to explain the situation and no grace given to waive the extra $20 fee. Their billing is a mess, and I think they like it so they can screw you.

By mistake I signed up my parents car for an EZ Plate and told them to use 99. They live 5 hours away from the closest toll road so they do not have an EZ tag account. Well they got a bill for the toll violations. No where did it mention on the Harris County Toll Road site that they couldn’t use the EZ Plate on 99 and secondly, I wasn’t aware that 99 fell under the jurisdiction of FBCTRA. Well I tried to have the charges waived. I was willing to pay the tolls. I wasn’t successful. In order to have the fees waived, my parents would have to set up an account. I explained to 3 different representatives (including two supervisors) that this action was a waste of time since my parents visit so infrequently. They didn’t care. Very poor service. I wont make that make mistake again.

Toll roads are great, I think they alleviate traffic and do not mind paying the little extra to avoid traffic. However, on every other toll road in the state you can use the EZ tag lane w/​out a tag and will be mailed a bill to pay online or by check. Normally there is a minimal fee of .50 to $ 1, but FBC Toll Rd Authority charges $ 5 per toll! I have never heard of anything like this anywhere, plus there is no signage stating this ridiculous «admin fee». Just be aware of this money grab.

I thought I had written a review, but I think I did for another Fort Bend Tollway on here. This one appears the most credible though.
It is always a pleasure to use this tollway when I don’t have time to use 288 or 59. I don’t give it a 5 star rating because I am not a fan of tolls. You will hardly see any cars on here unless you use it around 6−8am or 5−7pm. Other than that, you can get anywhere in 10 mins.

Nice way to get around, but having to pay a toll sucks, and I really don’t think the tolls are going away anytime soon.

Saved me so much time driving from Galveston to San Antonio. This toll road was very fast and traffic was very smooth. Check it out if you ever head that way.

Recently I had to show a house in southwest Houston. I was in a hurry since I needed to be into work by 12 so I decided to let my GPS give me directions. Well sure enough it suggested this toll road as being the fastest route.
I had never even used this road before but I figured what the hey!
So it’s a 4 lane toll way that runs from s. main street connecting beltway 8 to highway 6 directly on the south side of town. It’s super convenient if you need to get to this side of town. Since not that many people use this tollway it’s almost deserted and you never have to pay to wait behind other cars.
