We wanted to try something new so we stopped at this restaurant a block off hwy 41 in southern Indiana on a Tuesday afternoon. On the way into the restaurant we saw where their signature plate was on special(Delmonico) so our menu choice was made before we sat down. We ordered deep fried mushrooms for an appetizer which were really good. When we tried to place our order we were told the special was no longer available. Our waitperson said the manager would not honor the price. Not that they were out – just that they wouldn’t honor the price. We added up the difference between the special price and the regular menu price and it was just a few dollars but also a terrible way to treat a customer so we were hesitant to order anything but… we’re hungry! Instead we both ordered a filet with loaded baked potatoes. This was a very disappointing meal to the point I’m questioning the authenticity of the prior reviews we relied on for this trip. The baked potato was laden with fast food style liquid nacho cheese and what I think were Bacos. The steak was small. Cooked to order but very small. Too small to be considered a complete meal portion. It was smaller than the garnish on the plate! The waitperson was very very friendly and did a great job but good service doesn’t make up for bad food quality. I still can’t get over a cheez-whiz baked potato at a steakhouse. I’ve never seen that before. I posted pics of our food so you can see I’m not exaggerating. I won’t be returning here.

I’ve never eaten a better steak. I’ve eaten at most of the major-league steakhouses in the US and their filet mignon is the best I’ve ever eaten. The restaurant is not much to look at, kind of a dive actually, and a bit of a pain to get to from Evansville, but oh-my… The bar is old-school and you will likely have a local strike up a conversation. Fish-bowl beers are served ice-cold. Mediocre wine list, food presentation is weak — especially deserts — but when it tastes this good who cares.

We have been eating here for years. The steaks are incredible! The Delmonico is delicious. I really enjoy the spinach salad. The bread pudding is a must. The staff is super.

Mushroom appeitizer tasted grease soaked, as if they had been dumped onto cold grease and fried as the grease warmed up. Haub House mushrooms are the standard by which I judge others and the ones here failed… badly. My wife enjoyed her cranberry/apple/pecan salad although they were«out» of the requested dressing. I ordered the bar-b-que but they were also«out» of that. So I settled for what I would call(for Southern Indiana) a rather average breaded pork tenderloin. All in all I’d have to say we probably won’t be going back. BTW, we stopped there because Amnity Jo’s was not open on Tuesday evening.

This is a great neighborhood find. Not only are the ice cold fishbowls $ 1.99 all the time, but the food is great as well. Even the steaks, would make this place considered a ‘good steakhouse’. The downfalls: it’s smoky… smoking is allowed in the bar an will likely follow you were ever you sit(however last time I didn’t notice it, so maybe it has changed?) and sides are a la carte. Even with the pitfalls, I try and visit this place every time I am in the area. All in all, its the best steak dinner place in the Fort Branch/Princeton area. Also note that there are some great early bird specials if you get there before 6(I usually go for the bacon wrapped filet for $ 14.95)

Great food & great service. I had a pork chop & my husband had chicken but the steaks looked fantastic — served on hot plates. Owner talked with all customers. What a terrific find! This was our first attempt using Unilocal at a restaurant while traveling. We would have never found this place without Unilocal. We will be checking Unilocal for the rest of our trip.
