McKibben Gym

The best gym on FT Carson. As a true workout gym this is the place to go. There is not the «go to the gym and hook up» and no «meet» market gym, it is to see and be seen gym like Iron Horse. As others have said it is not crowded outside of the normal pt times. From 1000 (10a) to 1500 (3p) and 1800 (6p) to 2000 (8p) you generally do not have wait for a machine to get on. They offer classes and have personal trainers available for a very, very reasonable fee. It is the lowest price to use a trainer of any gym in the Springs, and the trainers are top notice. I am now retired, and drive 20 minutes to use this gym, because it is free to retires and it is a great gym. I also have a Planet Fitness gym membership, but only use it for the cardio equipment when I don’t really want to drive to FT Carson.
The only downsides to the gym is that it closes at 2000 (8p) and there are only 3 male showers, not sure about the female side. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the showers/​locker room set up. They really need to update the locker rooms.

Love the weight room and I do circuits in the crossfit area in the back. It could use more parking and it’s not good to go during pt hours. You’ll be waiting for a machine for a good 20 – 40 minutes during pt times

This is my favorite gym — not just on post, but in the Springs. Outside of PT hours its never crowded, the functional fitness room is amazing, and the layout makes sense — ie, you’re not on a treadmill facing another person across the room also on a treadmill, which is something a few gyms on post are guilty of. I pay for a 24 hour fitness membership & willingly go to McKibben instead whenever possible.

Gyms on base have greatly improved in recent years and McKibben Gym is still the best true gym on post! It is not the biggest with the newest fanciest equipment but, it has the best CrossFit style workout room and the only gym on base with some actual squat racks unlike the Iron Horse which should be called «Planet Iron Horse» since people go there to lose gains and run!
Don’t make excuses, get in, lift heavy things and move along!

I live right outside post and this is the gym I go to. I haven’t been to the other gyms but I really don’t have a reason to. I love this gym. HUGE weight room. I mean huge! They have a cardio area with elliptical machines and treadmills upstairs. The weight room seems to be the main attraction here and the civilian wives and retires seem to dominate the ellipticals. The only reason this isn’t getting a 5 star is that there are only 3 showers for such a giant gym! Besides that I love it.

Great gym, had a old school feel and good atmosphere, way way way better than Iron Horse if your into weight training!

Best gym on post! Ok, I’ve only been to Iron Horse other then here (Iron Horse Sucks!!) I like this gym alot. They have a great weight room with machines, and plate machines and duplicates of the same machine for some exercises, so you don’t have to wait on other people. They have numerous sets of dumbbells so you don’t have to wait for what you want and plenty of benches. In the middle is 2 racket ball courts and a cardio room with bikes, stairs, and elepticals. Up stairs is the treadmill room. It’s decent, they need to fix the like 6 treadmills that are broken though. In the far back is a room for crossfit and other random exercises. Over all a great gym with staff that aren’t rude to you or harass you like Iron Horse Gym Staff. Only reason I gave it a 4 was due to limited parking during peak hours, the never fixed broken treadmills, and it stinks like a crusty locker room.

Awesome if you’re there during hours outside of PT.

Good gym has everything you need to get in shape. No kids allowed and is completely free to the military and dependants. 5 stars because it’s free !!
