Bead Cache

I called in advance for silk beading cord asking for a size 6. Don told me they have sizes 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 only. I asked Don repeatedly to confirm the sizes to me… I had commented that I could possibly use two number 3’s to achieve the same effect as a size 6 and she said «yes possibly»… I headed over to the bead shop. Upon entering I noticed little baskets in one corner and then when Don finally looked up I asked if these were meant for shopping baskets. Don replied, «yes». I asked where I can find silk beading cords and she took me along the wall. I could not find a size 3 and commented about that fact. Don tells me that they don’t carry a size 3! Don had confirmed earlier, several times over the phone btw (I had her repeat it to me several times) that they have a size 3, 5, and 8 because I would be willing to buy each of those sizes and test out what works for me. It was not a brief conversation, I asked for details; colors available and sizes etc. I reminded Don that she told me they carry a size 3 silk bead cording… With an attitude Don responds adamant that she did not tell me that whatsoever! I repeated to Don that I distinctly remember what you told me. Don walks away!
We were there for 25 minutes and Don totally ignored me and my family (husband and two year old son were with me). Don gave all her attention and assistance to a lady with her granddaughter the entire time we were there. We are brown and the only people she would help are white customers. I’m not one to easily pull a race card, but I was absolutely discriminated upon; she didn’t even greet us when we entered! I hung around waiting to see if she’d offer assistance — nothing! I proceeded to start emptying my basket, putting all my items back due to Don’s bad service, but before I left I made sure to ask for her name.
I have been to this shop once before with my family and the nice woman who helped us (she was probably the owner and had her sweet dog there at the time), provided excellent customer service! Thank you! There were more customers in and out that day compared to my experience with Don btw. I won’t shop here again thanks to Don. If it weren’t for Don I’d give this shop four stars for products and five stars for the lady that helped me the first time I shopped at Bead Cache. Don, if you treated us better you would have kept a good, loyal customer who supports small businesses — you do not even deserve 1 star.

The bead cache is one of the best bead store, if not the best, I have ever been to. The selection of seed beads was amazing– they had a wide range of colors and finishes for 15, 11, 8, and 6 beads. They also had quite a large selection of newer bead shapes, particularly the superduos. I highly recommend visiting. The prices for the beads were on the lower end of what I’d been able to find on the internet and I didn’t have to pay for shipping or meet a minimum order. I highly recommend visiting if in or around the Fort Collins area.

The Bead Cache is a local bead supply/​beading classes/​jewlrey store that is just plain fun to go to. I always get a friendly greeting and great service from people who really know beads and have wonderful creative ideas. Recently, I worked with the staff to throw a beading party for my friends where we all made a leather-​wrap bracelet. Everyone had a great time and went home proudly with their creations.
The Bead Cache has higher quality beads than you will find at the chain hobby stores, and at reasonable prices. The Bead Cache has the best selection of seed beads I have seen. They sell individual beads that are all sorted by color so I can find that one perfect bead. The wall is covered with strands of glass and semi-​precious stone, and there is a case of unique consignment and designer beads. I like to look at the displays of completed jewlrey to get inspiration for my beading projects.

I started going to the Bead Cache when it opened around 15 years ago. I’ve been beading on and off ever since.
It’s a great store, helpful staff, lots of beads and a relaxed atmosphere.
Any time I feel like beading it’s the first place I go.
