Awesome concept, but I’ve really been disappointed the last three times I’ve been there. Hence I’m finally posting a review. I can’t remember what the reason was the first time I was disappointed. That was my fourth visit I believe. The next time was with my son we played a game together, I had a Master Thief, is was nice except my Sausage Trio was way over cooked, burnt and too hard to chew. The last time I went was just a week ago, my son and I were seated then were greeted by our waitress. She told us she would be back with water, ten minutes later we left without even placing a drink order from the lack of service and interest in our patronage. In short I’m complaining about the staff. Tend to the paying customers as well as the food preparation more please.

The only person I have to blame is myself. I shouldn’t have ordered food considering last time i tried this place it was a flop. I like the atmosphere though and was rooting for a come back but was sadly delivered yet another poorly constructed platter. While the beer is good and the nerd shrouded atmosphere(complete with board games) is entertaining, the food is still considerably lacking. only this time it was worse. I ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich and it was so tough and grisly I could barely stomach half. By the time I sawed through a quarter of it, the rest was cold and the baguette soggy with sauce. Gross. Beyond gross. Eat. Somewhere. Else.

Not the greatest table service but the bar is really cool.

Nice and roomy. A leather candle would really set this place off! They really know their clientele.

Love this place! Fabulous food, delicious drinks, and amazing atmosphere! I had a butterbeer, and it wasn’t as creamy as I had imagined, but it was tasty, nonetheless! Grilled Mac and cheese sandwich with bacon was so filling and the best comfort food I could imagine. My husband had the beer cheese soup, and it was so good!

The service here was very, very slow. But a really cool place for board games

Very cool and nerdy place. The inside is done up like an inn from your favorite fantasy with decorations from many mediums. Lots of board games to play with friends and family and the service was very helpful and friendly. The food was interesting, I really enjoyed my grilled man n’ cheese sandwich with spinach and artichokes but the portions are a bit small. If I lived closer I would be here all the time.

Based on the response that I am getting from my Facebook review, the owners refuse to acknowledge any problems and state that all negative experiences should be voiced to the manager to be resolved instead of using social media to write a review. Unfortunately the lack of PR and acknowledgement of the problem will mean that I never give this business my money again.

Our party of 6 went to D&D last night to play games and have dinner… we had a blast! Great atmosphere and super friendly service. There was a really eclectic mix of customers, from young singles to a table of middle-aged ladies, to families and a kids table that had their own game going… What a fun place to have a party! They were busy and the food came out a little slow, but the wait staff was very communicative and apologetic about it, and for me that’s what matters. None of us really loved the desserts(it might have just been an off night), but the rest of the food was excellent! We made a reservation and I’d recommend doing that if you’re going with a large party(more than 4) on Friday or Saturday night. Make sure you check out the detail in the décor when you go! I’m giving a 5 star rating for good food, great service and a really fun and creative atmosphere :) ** ** NOTE: Some nights they don’t allow anyone under 18 after 10pm due to a scheduled game that could have players using language they deem inappropriate, so call ahead if you have kids in your party.

I LOVETHISPLACE! My heart soars whenever I go in there. The waitress let me call her tavern wench which was rad. The décor, games, service, everything is AMAZING. They even have a guy who teaches you how to play the games. I do like the other Unilocalers recommendation that they focus more on snacks. I got The Bard appetizer once and it only lasted for like 2 seconds. It was delicious, but there just wasn’t a lot of it. Also! I got the cockatrice and it was $ 1.50 extra just to get gravy on my mashed taters. Oh well. I love this place and I’ll pay for the yumminess. But my boyfriend and I have to limit ourselves to going once a month until we have more money.

I wish there was a rating higher than 5 stars! My husband and I supported their kickstarter even though we live near St. Louis, MO(about 900 miles away). Last week we were in Denver for work and decided to stay a few extra days so we could drive up to Fort Collins and visit D&D. We had lunch as soon as we got into town and were completely thrilled with everything about this place! The décor, the staff, the menu and drinks, the game wall… it was all just incredible and we can’t wait to go back! We have been looking forward to this trip for months and we were not disappointed!

Great concept and quite the game/beer selection. They even have food offerings for vegans, although it’s a tad pricey. I like the location, particularly because you can bike and hop off from the Spring Creek Trail.

This place rules! I’ve come here a couple of times now as part of the Fort Collins retro gaming club and the atmosphere as well as the beer selection is awesome, they are super dog friendly and the staff is awesome. Food is a little on the pricey side, but it’s definitely high quality. Would regimen to any needs or people with an open mind. Also they have a huge selection of board games.

My first time here… though my gamer husband has been a couple times. Love the concept, and they have a good variety of games to borrow(though we didn’t partake this time. too tired to try something new). I had«The Hammer is my Drink».which was quite tasty… on the sweet side. I ordered the appetizer«The Bard»(pretzel rolls and dipping sauces)…the beer cheese soup dipper was my favorite, the honey mustard is pretty much honey with mustard seed(awesome in my book, likely not enough mustard flavor for mustard fans), and raspberry/jalapeño jam(just weird… not bad, but not really for me).

I love this concept! It’s creative and fun! I can think of so many people who I would love to bring here. The effort into making the tavern ambiance did not go unnoticed — too bad this doesn’t carry over to the outside patio. The careful attention to details like silver plates and an extensive library of games is amazing. And if you want to nerd out about stuff, you’ll find no shortage of enthusiastic conversation. Also, what a nice selection of beers! I even tried some mead, yum! When in a tavern, do as. Now, I typically don’t review unless I’ve been to a place more than once. So why the insta-3-star review? Three stars because there is definitely room for improvement, but I am really looking forward to re-visiting in the near future. So here’s my two cents. The food… needs so much work. Completely over-priced for nothing exactly spectacular. I do love the creative names, but the hefty price tag is distracting. I’m sure some geeky gamers and myself(I am not a gamer) would rather have a much more limited menu that tastes good and is affordable. Or at least proportional to what you are paying for. When I play games, I like to constantly snack and drink, not necessarily have a meal that gets in the way, which was a noticeable trend we observed among the other tables. We decided to split two items, thinking it would be too much food. The brisket and extremely watered down flavorless instant mashed potatoes was ~$ 16(not including the extra $ 2 to add mac and cheese — come on! don’t charge extra for over-cooked mac and cheese or $ 1 for a side salad). For an $ 18 entrée, we should not have left without a to-go box. However, I do not want a box for that tasteless garlic potato mush. BBQ is tough to execute and shouldn’t be offered unless it is hot and most importantly, not dry. Relative to the brisket fiasco, we liked the croissant turkey club croissant(~$ 10), but even that was unsatisfying. For those reading, it might be worth it to ask the server what they would eat and order that. We even saw employees bring in their own food. Maybe we should have taken a page from their book. Or just don’t come hungry. It is definitely worth your time to check it out! I know I will be back and will support Dungeons and Drafts by having a few drinks and trying out a game or two! And I can’t wait to check out some of the fun events they are starting to line up!

Stopped by on 7⁄1 didn’t order food just played games and drank some beers. Have to say the sizing of their beer is amazing. I had a Tropic King from Funkwerks brewery in a 16 oz pour for 5.50! If you familar witht the product, you usually see the same price on a 10oz pour in a tulip glass. All of their beers are poured into 16oz mugs! The service could use some work unfortunately. We were seated quickly but never saw our waitress after she initially greeted our table. We had to go to the bar and grab all of our drinks. This turned out alright because the bartender that night was hilarious and was very knowledgeable about the products he was serving. Atmosphere was great, good volume and great décor. I live nearby so I will probably stop by again. I understand they are new so they are still figuring out staffing and service times. Will update when I visit again.

I want to like this place. I really do. The atmosphere is awesome and totally welcoming to the nerd community. That said, the service and menu are sort of laughable. It took our waitress 20 mins to acknowledge us, with our order eventually being taken another 15 mins later. I ordered the pretzles– $ 10 for two pretzle sticks? Really? We had a rather large party, so the people that ordered entrees finally got their food at the 1:15 mark. Fast forward 20 mins. We’ve eaten and are all ready to pay. The checkout process(once we went to the front and asked for the waitress) took NINTYMINUTES. I wish that I was making this up. Their Square readers were having issues so everybody who paid with a card got their plastic swiped 4 – 5 times. The waitress got so overwhelmed with recipts that she ended up accidentally tossing a cash person’s payment in the garbage. This place has potential. But they need to get table turnover figured out if they’re going to survive.

So — the atmosphere is pretty great, the game selection is great, the checkout process is really straightforward, and the crowd is varied which I liked. Key ingredients to a good experience, clearly. Food and service, not so much. It was clear they had been slammed earlier, and I think they’re just overwhelmed with all the business. Server was friendly but a rookie and in over his head without much help, I think. And. The. Food. I ordered a pretzel as a snack, and the $ 11 price tag seemed very steep but I figured if they were charging that much it was probably pretty great. Hahahahahahahahahahaa. I got a couple of store-bought pretzel buns, and they couldn’t even warm them up. It takes some serious cajones to charge $ 11 for something you got off the back of a Sysco truck for 20 cents. On the bright side, the dipping sauces were fantastic, so they’ve got something right. My friends’ food was pretty underwhelming as well, and overpriced. Overall I would have liked this place a lot more if they’d dropped the restaurant airs altogether and just stuck with what’s in their name — clearly not doing the food part very well. Will come again to give it another shot though, and actually try to play BOSSMONSTER!!!

I had a wonderful experience at Dungeons and Drafts. We didn’t have a chance to play any games, unfortunately, but the food and service was wonderful. I had a beef wellington that was perfectly tender and juicy on the inside. The mashed potatoes were nice, and not too crazy overpowering, and the veggies were lovely. Our server checked on us plenty, was kind, helpful, and very attentive. I definitely recommend this tavern!

For a tavern that hasn’t officially opened yet(so take that first review on the first soft beta test day with a grain or three of salt), this Geek Bar is a gamer’s paradise. Designed to look like an inn from a medieval period(and accentuated with SciFi classic music playing in the background… think John William’s soundtracks, and a touch of Imagine Dragons), it has a very specific audience: Board Gamers, LARPers, Geeks and Nerds, Costumers and the ilk. Folks will come for the camaraderie, brews, and games. And while the menu is still a work in progress, the appetizer that I had, The Dwarven Plate with local meats and cheeses was beautifully plated and tasty, and my mead goblet quickly replenished. Did I mention the fabulous patio? They have a spacious outdoor space! This is a destination pub, with dozens, if not hundreds of games, and a staff that was very attentive and willing to teach folks new games. When I stopped in(yes, still during soft testing), I was greeted at the door, welcomed to my seat, and immediately served. Yes, he staff is young, and still learning, but they understand the clientele, so expect a small learning curve. And, come on. Where else are you going to be able to play«dress up» with that cool outfit you never wear in the back of your closet… you know you want to! (In response to the«I have to be first» reviewer who never gives more than 1 star reviews: Remember, 99% of Chef Ramsey’s «rescues» fail. He’s a petulant screaming showboater looking for crappy restaurants to that have been open for years, not hours.) I will definitely be back.
