Avoid this Doctor. He looks great on paper, MD degree from an awesome school, etc. My 19 year old daughter travelled 60 miles to see him because she has no sense of smell and we have never gotten an explanation from other ENTs. This Doctor is supposed to be the best of the best when it comes to loss of sense of smell. But his bedside manner is horrible and his follow up is unacceptable.
During the first visit he was «excited» by my daughter’s case. He treated her more like a lab rat with a great new mystery to unravel then a patient. He didn’t even try to hide his joy at her loss of smell. No empathy whatsoever. He promised her he already had some theories and he was going to get to the bottom of the issue.
He gave her two meds to try out. (One had the side affect of sleeping issues) and he failed to mention this to her, even though she had already told him she had sleep issues. She he made her sleep issues worse. Then the other med had the common side effects of dizziness, exhaustion, sore muscles and headaches. He didn’t warn her about that either. So, she ended up feeling really, really sick and unable to sleep. He also promised he was going to get her Cat Scan from a previous Doctor and then call her in a few days to tell her what he thought of the Cat Scan. That was 3 months ago. He never called.
I called and asked about it. The receptionist said he must have forgotten.
He ordered the Cat Scan from the previous Doctor and then called my daughter to say that he thought she was born without a sense of smell. (This was after he took a 1 hour history in the first visit and she clearly stated she lost her sense of smell at age 10.) When she told him she used to be able to smell and had mentioned that to him before, he tried to convince her that she never really could smell!
He never once mentioned the delay in getting back to her or apologized for it.
He clearly didn’t read his own notes on her history.
I only had to pay my $ 35 co-​pay but I wish I could get a refund.
