Thakor Michael MD

I have seen Dr. Thakor twice. He is easy to talk to. He takes his time with me. I do agree he is conservative but I would rather not have a doctor who wants to put me on a bunch of strong drugs unless really necessary. He doesn’t order a bunch of unncessary tests. He is very approachable.

After suffering 6 months in chronic pain, Dr. Thakor suggested I first wait another 3 months in severe pain before returning to see him. After a year of 3 month increments and receiving nothing more than NSAIDS, I was losing hope. When another doctor kindly intervened on my behalf, Dr. Thakor FINALLY stepped me up to a biological. 24 hours later, my pain was gone. If you are looking for an ultra conservative doctor who will wait for you to develop a textbook case of arthritis as seen by MRI, then he’s your doc. Shame on you Dr. Thakor.

I completely agree with Nicole R. that Dr. Michael Thakor is an excellent rheumatologist.
I suffer from psoriatic arthritis. He guided me through several medications until we finally found a solution with the biologic, Humira.
Because Dr. Thakor had me try older and cheaper medications first, the insurance company did not balk at having to pay for a very expensive medicine. They believed we had tried cheaper alternatives before moving to Humira, so they had no grounds for denying me coverage.
Dr. Thakor is very thorough, explains things clearly, spends as much time as is needed with me, and has provided the refills without fail, so I always have my medicine on time.
His office staff is friendly, and he has a female partner for those patients that prefer to work with a woman doctor.

We are soooo lucky to have Dr. Thakor in Fort Collins! When I moved here I thought it would be close to impossible to replace my rheumatologist. My previous doctor had done her residency and later worked with Dr. Thakor, he came highly recommended. Dr. Thakor is such a nice guy, easy to talk to, and a great listener. Unlike other physicians I never feel rushed. He always allows me to put my two cents in regarding my treatment and he respects my opinion. His office is great about following up on test results too. Dr. Thakor is a great doctor like I said Fort Collins and me are lucky to have him here.
