Good for getting away from town and seeing nature. There are hiking trails starting from both sides of the dam. The water and fish create a dinner table for birds and people. In winter there are several kinds of gulls, lots of pelicans and cormorants. There are fishing areas above and below the dam as well as areas down the river. Several boat ramps have been closed due to silt and them not wanting to spend money to maintain them. It is getting pretty grown up now, but you can still follow the roads to the side of the river to look for birds or fish. The closed boat ramps are secluded and there is poaching, be careful.
