Freedom Fest

I always love celebrating the 4^th of July with folks in uniform. Freedom Fest serves just that purpose. Yeah, it’s a regular carnival with the rides and food. But while your kid rode a farm animal around for five minutes, the kids here got to climb around tanks and take pictures in front of helos. And the fist aid station was a camoflauge tent. (Thanks for helping me out with my boo boo!)
This was pretty well run — plenty of MPs directing traffic around the field to ensure patrons got there and parking was ample in the area around Sadowski Field.
Kelly Clarkson, the headliner for this year, didn’t start on time but they ensured that everyone had a great view with the large screen provided at the front. She was also pretty fantastic live. The fireworks went on forever after her set and were viewable from many locations around Fort Hood.
Drawback? Only two areas on the field to buy your grown up dranks. Um, really?
