If you’ve ever been to the Coral Ridge Mall, then you’ve seen these guys set up in the middle of the mall in front of Old Navy. If you’re anything like me, you’ve also probably waived them off & shook your head«no» when they’ve called out at you for a massage as you walked past them. However, today I was on a mission & my mission was to go to the mall with the sole intent of giving these guys a try. While I get regular table massages, I’ve only had one other chair massage prior to today so I wasn’t quite sure what I was in for, but I knew I needed a quick fix for a neck pain I woke up with this morning so I figured this was a good time to find out. This is not one of those $ 1 a minute chair massages, which I quickly found out after showing up with a $ 10 bill thinking I’d get a 10 minute massage(fortunately, they accept credit cards). I was presented with a menu, which had different options & pricing from the small signs they had on their chairs, & I decided on the 15 minute massage for $ 18, which I believe was the cheapest option on the menu. Once the guy I was assigned to got to work, it was immediately obvious he was not messing around– with strong pressure he massaged, kneaded, popped, elbowed, shook and stretched my head, neck, back & arms like nobody’s business. At one point he asked me something I didn’t quite understand, but I think he said something to the effect of «10 more minutes, $ 10 more dollars» so I answered«yes» because that’s always a good answer when you don’t understand the question, and he massaged me another 10 minutes or so & after it was all said & done, my total came out to $ 28. While I ended up spending far more than I had planned on spending, the guy did a good job & I feel much better than I did when I first sat in the chair. The only negative I will add is again, if you’re anything like me, you are a bit squeamish about having someone’s hands all over your neck after they’ve had their hands all over 20 other people’s necks without washing them in-between. Because they are set up in the middle of the mall, they don’t have a sink to wash their hands in so they rely upon hand sanitizer in between customers & that’s a bit concerning for a compulsive hand-washer like me, but if you can get over that, I suggest giving these guys a try next time you pass by.
