I was searching for a violin and was curious about the quality of the under $ 3000 violins Fiddlershop has to offer. So I got 3 violins for trial. One of them was very decent although I eventually went with a violin from a local shop instead. It seems Fiddlershop is under staffed, I always get John who has been quite attentive. On the website, it indicates the trial violin will not be charged unless it is not returned after the trial period. I was charged the full amount on all 3 violins and a bow on day one. I called and wrote without any response until a week later. John said it was an automatic system and they will credit me the full amount minus the trial fees. It has been almost another week. I am still charged the entire amount and the violins have been returned. I believe this is an honest oversight but after numerous attempt to ask them to rectify the mistake without success, it is enough reason for me to give a negative review and warn others to think carefully about in-home trial from FiddlerShop. Also, each violin is different, I wouldn’t waste $ 60 to try my luck anymore. I would rather go to a local shop and test as many as possible. I traveled to 2 states and tested over 40 violins. Some of them are«identical» but sound completely different in tone and clarity. I don’t believe mail order in-home trial is a very productive way to test violins.

I had absolutely amazing experience with fiddlershop. I was looking for a violin for my daughter for a long time. It was pretty exhausting process. I bought a very good instrument, at the reasonable price, from them. They were super nice, helpful, and professional. I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a violin, or other string instrument. I will use them anytime I need anything related to my daughter’s violin or extra strings. Best violin shop known to me ever!
