I finally went by Gilbert’s and I did not even have their famous cookies! Grrrr. I had the havarti burger and it was just not for me. The Cole slaw is very good and so are the fries. I think the prices are good. For about $ 15 you get your burger, fries or Cole slaw, and a fountain drink Will be back for cookies!

Amazing cheesecake. Awesome burger. Better service. Incredible. We vacation down here once a year or so and Gilberts is a must stop. I get the Hickory burger(BBQ sauce, Swiss, bacon, and a huge onion ring). First off that burger is killer. That only gets a place so far. For a restaurant where you go to the counter and get a number the service is incredible. There are multiple workers on the floor asking if you need refills or if there is anything they can help with. Super friendly. Without a doubt their homemade cheesecake and key lime pie is the star here. One of if not the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. Whatever your reason for being in the area, take a trip to Gilbert’s.

We were starved after landing and having to spend an hour in line for our rental car Grrr… I pulled the Unilocal app up on my phone to see what quick eats was nearby and Gilbert’s was first on the list. Wow, was I impressed by their burgers. They have some interesting burger selections, but I went with the tried and true Angus cheeseburger. Cooked to perfection! My mother was raving about their fries on the flight returning home. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. I will definitely go there again on my next trip to FLL.

We(17 of us) came for a lunch after graduation and this place was awesome. We met Lenora Gilbert and the staff. The best service and the food was incredibly awesome. It was really a treat to find such a nice gem close to where we are staying. The burgers were delicious and they also make their own homemade hot sauce. Their cream of mushroom soup is one of the best I’ve had. They use kosher hot dogs too. All I can say is amazing and we will come back again.

We are from Austin, TX… Saw the reviews on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Wow, this place is hands down, one of the best places I have ever eaten a burger at — and that includes places in Austin. The fries were«meh» but the winner here is those burgers! I chose the Cajun one. I will be going back to South Florida in the fall and will no doubt, be back to have a burger here. Oh, and ill have another Kitchen Sink cookie too! The wife loved the Key Lime Pie. Daughter and I split the cookie. The people there were outstanding!

I have been eagerly looking forward to try Gilbert’s since I have seen all the stellar reviews, but I am disappointed to say that my visit was very disappointing. This is a cafeteria style restaurant where you order at the counter, get a number, pour your own drinks and food will be delivered to your table as it is ready. The breakdown of my experience: Menu: The center formatting of the menu makes it very hard to read, it is too busy, and overwhelming Specials: They offer lots of daily specials, they are written on a chalk board by the ordering counter, also very hard to read and I almost walked right past them. Also, because the wording is so crammed together it doesn’t specify the ingredients Food: Tomato Soup — Tasted like bland tomato sauce Split Pea Soup — Better than the Tomato soup, but still lacked flavor Grilled Chicken Wings — Small, not very meaty. Chicken with onions and veggies — Way too greasy, awful presentation Greek Salad — Just ok Value: $ 42 for dinner for 2, we didn’t even ordered sodas! We got cups of water. I was shocked that our dinner was so much considering we didn’t have a server, we had to order at the counter, get our drinks and had to walk to the counter to exchange my bland soup and the food was Meh to ok. The restaurant was clean, and service at the counter was friendly, however I found it to be expensive for what it is.

Wow… What an outstanding experience. We had just picked up our son from the airport and everyone was hungry so I did a quick Unilocal search for what was nearby and saw all the good reviews so in we went. First off one of the waiters saw us taking family photos and was nice enough to come over and offer to take one of all four of us. We went inside and Mrs Gilbert not only greeted us right away but she went on to explain the menu with such mouth watering detail that we were already salivating. Between the four of us we ordered a burger, grilled wings, ribs and salmon. All were absolutely delicious. So delicious that we ordered a second set of wings and ribs. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back again. Maybe even before we head home from our cruise when we get back. To top it all off are the desserts. We got a kitchen sink cookie… Like nothing I have ever seen or tasted before. I will try to post a photo. They were so kind that they even gave it to us on the house. Thanks Mrs Gilbert and Team… We loved everything.

Definitely try the grilled wings! The burger I got(The Brie) was good, but the wings were better! I ordered my burger medium and it came out well done. I read a few reviews about the place, though apparently not enough to see that this wasn’t a full service restaurant, though the prices seemed like it would be. Very clean though, and after standing in line and placing our order at the counter, there was staff to bring us our meal as well as keep us stocked on condiments and beverages. The sweet potato fries were also a great side to my burger. I ate as many as I could instead if eating the other half of my burger. Overall a good experience. :)

THEBESTESTOFTHEBEST. The real thing. If you happen to visit Fort Lauderdale’s Harbor Shops(just off the17th Street Causeway) don’t even think about eating anywhere but GILBERT’S 17th Street Grill. Lenore Gilbert has created the perfect place to enjoy everything from the best hamburger in South Florida to the most delicious cookies anywhere.(Baked fresh daily by Little Gilbert — Beth, Lenore’s beautiful daughter) The Grilled Salmon is wonderful. Steaks are great. Grilled chicken beast to perfection. The homemade soups are better than grandma made. There are not enough stars to award this terrific bistro. We feel at home here. Another comfortable living space in paradise. Leone greets every patron with smile, if it’s not on the menu or you have special dietary needs, just ask. They will quickly prepare anything you request. The menu is vast. The prices are fair, the portions are huge, the service is truly unmatched. How many places are there to eat in Fort Lauderdale? If you eat in a different one every meal, it will take you seven years to eat in all of them. Go now to Gilbert’s: you see why many regulars enjoy a meal here three-four times a week. Thank you Gilbert’s. Thank you for feeding my friends and family. Thank you for all you do.

Ranks amongst the best Caesar salads I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I like this place for the location and food. I began going here for th burgers many years ago and have continued off/on trying different things along the way. Parking can be a challenge during peak lunch hours. There’s a few popular restaurants, gyms and ladies fashion stores gobbling up the spots but circle the lot a few times and surely you’ll find something. Once inside you’ll find a friendly atmosphere and dinning room. Depending on the day of the week, you might find the owner, a really sweet elderly lady hovering around the entrance to greet you and help with the menu selections. There a chalkboard with specials but if you look unsure you’re going to get some help. I’ve mainly had the burgers, some of the best I’ve had anywhere locally or abroad. On this day, I was trying to eat healthy and opted for the Caesar salad topped with Mahi-Mahi. The person taking my order asked if I wanted the fish cooked grilled or blackened, I went blackened. Salad, $ 9.99, add Mahi for another $ 5 and a drink and the grand total, $ 18.50 for lunch. Really? Not sustainable folks, it’s lunch and it’s a salad. I typically read my tablet at lunch and catch up on the news. 15 – 20 minutes goes by and my food finally comes out. To my surprise, the most beautiful salad I’ve ever seen outside of my house appears. A large portion to sum it up. A top my salad is a nice portion of fish. I ordered blackened and this thing had about as much kick as my neighbors Chihuahua, not much. Tasty none the less, I was happy. Except for the price of course. Sadly I didn’t snap a picture, because I nearly finished every bite. I’d say that’s a good endorsement. The dining room is clean and the tables spaced perfectly across the space. Easy to grab a table and be as private as you’d like or huddle up next to your neighbor and catch some good gossip. All things said, this is one of my go to lunch places. Decent food, nice environment and the ability to enjoy your food and relax. Please, drop your prices, I’m just a poor working man…

Excellent menu options for anyone’s taste preferences! They’re really great about substitutions and making sure you have everything you want or need. Owner is on location and super informative and helpful — killer looking desserts that were all homemade. You order at the counter where you can see everything being prepared and they bring your order to your table.

Firs time visiting this place. Great customer service no doubt. I decided to stop by based on the great reviews. I ordered the a Burger stuffed Mofongo(traditional Dominican dish consisting of smash fried green plantains) and the corn chowder soup. The burger was not the greatest, it was cooked well, however no distinctive flavor. I was curious to know/taste this fusion of burger & mofongo. The soup had consistency and a great presentation, however a trend with my food today, no distinctive flavor whatsoever. The crackers for the soup were very old… complete turn off. The sweet potato fries were delicious. Again, good quality of burger meat; moist, tender, but no flavor at all. Great ambience & décor…, outstanding service and location. Parking could be a challenge, but you’ll be better off parking by Publix and walking over. The reviews here grant a second look, I’ll be back. They certainly deserve a second chance.

Popped into this little place right after I landed in Fort Lauderdale and was excited to try somewhere that had a sign«best burgers in south Florida.» I haven’t had that many burgers in south Florida, but this place was really good. I got the Brie burger with sweet potato fries and my friend got the bleu cheese burger… We both cleaned our plates, so I’m gonna say it was pretty good. Now for dessert. We saw these ridiculous looking cookies by the register and HAD to try them. We got the original kitchen sink and the peanut butter kitchen sink… So yummy. We’re both still working on them… It’s a lotta dessert!

Gilbert’s is a very well run establishment. You can feel the vibe when you walk in. It’s happening and fun, super well organized, clean and friendly. I love that! I ordered the brie-burger medium with regular fries, a kitchen sink cookie, and a cream soda. $ 25 pre-tip(heads up-no tip line available if you pay with a card-bring cash) It took a very long time to get the burger, but it was also 7:30 on a Saturday night. The dining room attendants worked tirelessly to assist guests and turn tables. There was always one or two people nearby available should you need anything, and they all were smiling! We got the burger, it was perfectly cooked. It was stacked high– a huge burger-bacon-brie cheese-two onion rings-lettuce and tomato. It was beautiful! However, it was just ok tasting. It was rather dry– and just didn’t have a WOW factor like I expected. The bacon was that paper thin, greasy, gross bacon you get at fast food joints. No flavor whatsoever, just gross. The accompanying fries were stale and I do know my french fries! I think maybe I had a bad batch, because after the reviews I expected a lot better. Maybe they were twice cooked? They were dry and stale tasting. I asked for some honey mustard to go with them to dip, and it was putrid. It was pure garlic. I then asked for some ranch, again, it had a strange flavor, unlike any ranch I have ever tried. The kitchen sink cookie was«cute.» I got it to make my kids smile, and they did, but they had a couple bites of the cookie part and said it was too sweet. Would I go back again? Not likely, as I live so far, and there are so many other places nearby I would like to try. I wouldn’t say don’t go there, though. The staff was so friendly, and it really was a nice place. I just would try a different burger next time, and I should have sent the fries back for a fresh batch.

Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill is a family-owned restaurant that’s conveniently located just 5 miles away(about 10 ~ 15 minutes drive) from the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. I think what makes this restaurant special is their extraordinary service and I even had a small talk with the owner(the lady you see on their website). You first order at the counter, grab a number, find a table, and wait for the food to come out. All patties are made from 8 oz. Certified Angus Beef and each burger order also comes with a choice of french fries, sweet potato fries, or coleslaw. On a side note, there’s a triple distilled water machine right next to the soda machine. *** «The Brie» Burger with Bacon, Crispy Fried Onions(coleslaw, $ 14.95): One of the juiciest and thickest patties I’ve had. However, I tried very hard to convince myself this was the best burger I’ve had and unfortunately I couldn’t reach such a conclusion because bacon was dry and buns weren’t toasted. Coleslaw wasn’t bitter at all and it was pretty good.(3.5÷5) *** Is Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill the best burger in town? Maybe, but you can’t really beat California’s In-N-Out in terms of taste(that In-N-Out Spread) and price(~3 for one cheeseburger). 3.5-star on burger with extremely friendly service. P. S. — It is ranked No. 70 in Unilocal’s Top 100 Places To Eat In Broward-Palm Beach( )

This was our last stop before heading to the airport to Boston. It was the best idea ever. I got the Dominican Burger which is basically like a heart attack in food form. Fried egg, fried cheese, fried salami on a burger with sweet potato fries. I could only finish half of it, but it was among the best burgers I’ve ever had. My friends and I realized that although all the toppings and recipes were innovative, the burger was really cooked to perfection. It’s absolutely no wonder this place has been voted«best burger» repeatedly! And PS the staff were so sweet! Attentive, kind, and concerned about our eats! The owner was there and she is absolutely adorable!

When I ask for a slice of Key Lime pie with my order and the staff member tells me there will be a wait on that slice BECAUSEONLYMRS. GILBERTCANPREPARETHEKEYLIMEPIE…(hold on, I just shed a tear)…SHEUNDERSTANDSWHATFOODISALLABOUT!!! SHEGETSIT!!! My order was carry out, and she also wanted to know where the pie was traveling to — just before she grated the fresh lime zest on the slice! She didn’t merely fix a slice and hand it to me… she took her time and prepared it as if she was competing against a world renowned pastry chef. Among other dishes, I also had a Godfather Burger… TOTALDELICIOUSNESSNESS!!! Perfectly medium rare, and huge. Everything was exceptional! GILBERT’S ISNOWONEOFMYFAVORITEPLACESONEARTH. This place was voted Best Burger in South Florida and I have no argument with that. This burger was better then some steaks I hav e had here in town. the toppings are of very high quality and the patty itself was amazing .I ordered the The Godfather Burger It’s a burger with fresh mozzarella and a perfectly ripened slice of tomato and a think grilled slice of capicola I also asked for some of the sundried tomato pesto. It came out a bit on the medium side instead of medium well but after one bite I didn’t even think about sending it back because it tasted great. This burger is not cheap but worth every penny its truly a premium burger nothing like the waste of money going to shake shack I would like to mention the service here is better then most full fledged sit down restaurants i am already planing to return here with family and friends.
