What a lovely dining experience from start to finish. Market 17 pays close attention to details that other restaurants don’t. My boyfriend and I took my mother here as a treat while she visited from up north for a few days, and I’m so glad we did! Our server, mike, was phenomenal– we all agreed he was the most attentive and friendly server we have had in ages. The dining room is beautiful and even the music they play sets a nice vibe. The food of course was phenomenal and is the main reason for this review. We shared ceviche and croquettes and we each had two tasting plates as well as coconut cake and cookies and milk. Everything was out of this world, especially the grouper! If I could give them more stars I would. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a great evening!

I told my huband to choose a restaurant in Broward that was on the show«Check Please South Florida» and he chose this one. I made reservations for six people on a Friday night. Parking was easy, right outside the restaurant. Inside was nicely decorated. We were greeted at the door and immediately seated. For starters, we had the crispy pork belly tartine and the grilled market naan. Both were delicious but the crispy PORKBELLYTARTINE is a must try! The restaurant has two serving sizes for dinner: a tasting size or an entrée. The tasting size is 3oz of protein(or 3 shrimp, if you order shrimp) and the entrée is 6oz of protein(or 6 shrimp). Three of us ordered two tasting meals each, while the other three ordered only one tasting meal each. We ordered the grouper, the beef strip loin, the snapper and the duck. Everything was amazing but I really liked the snapper. The tasting size was just perfect! The duck came with these amazing crispy potatoes! They were sooo good! We ordered sides of beef meatballs, mushroom tempura, chipotle eggplant, and cauliflower. Again, everything was delicious but the mushroom tempura was the star. The cauliflower tasted like no other cauliflower that you have ever tried but in a really good way! The eggplant was yummy but spicy — very unique! The beef meatballs were also excellent! For dessert, we ordered the homemade blueberry ice cream, the homemade chocolate ice cream and the CAFECONLECHECUSTARD! I’m putting this is caps because you HAVETO get this. It’s light & fluffy & oh so delicious! It reminds me of tiramisu but lighter! Loved it! John, our waiter, was extremely patient with us as we asked question after question and then told him ten reasons why three of the guests couldn’t eat certain dishes. Thank you John! You were great! Can’t wait to go back!

Went to two other places that flopped first, and man, I should have come here first! Their menus are dated, and posted outside. It changes daily and is based on what they get in fresh. They are a farm to table restaurant. First, I loved that they didn’t judge me. This is a very upscale place. I rolled in wearing a nasty duck dynasty shirt, and some running shorts that earned a new wash about four hours prior. I wasn’t several day dirty, but it’s been a long day in the sun, and I wasn’t fresh or decent. They let me switch tables, as I prefer my back to a wall and seeing the doorway/entry to my area. Our server was Mike, and my perfect balance. Personable, and able to answer all of my questions, but not a chatty Kathy interrupting my meal. He listened to my needs and wants, and we ended up going on with what we planned before stepping in. We started with the Compressed Watermelon & House Cured Pancetta Salad. It sucked. It wasn’t part of the plan, but Mike recommended it, and it honestly was nothing like it sounded. The watermelon wasn’t very flavorful, and I found the accenting flavors to be counterproductive. Olives, jalapeños, and pistachios did not go well with it. I had a few bites, and was done. Mike ended up taking it off the bill(without request), as he could tell we weren’t pleased. My companion went with the antelope, and I went with the mushrooms. I don’t like to speak of my diet as it often makes negative connections, and I don’t judge others for their diets– but I don’t consume animal products. I haven’t had a single thing this year(of my own free will and accord), but for antelope, cooked their way, I had to try it. Absolutely fantastic. Succulent(cooked rare), a mild flavor, but so tender and lean. As Mike described it, its closest to a filet, but better. Now, for Mishrooms: I’m not a fan, at all. It was the only thing on the menu I could eat, and I figured when entrees range from $ 22 – 46 a plate, this would be the best place to try it. I still can’t believe what I ate. The flavors where amazing. Sweet, and rich, yet not over the top. Crunch from broccoli, yet a soft meat like texture from mushrooms, while others were soft, and others more solid– almost firm. I’m completely blown away by it, and I must say its the best meal I’ve had since 2015÷12÷30. Not that one was better or worse, but it’s a landmark meal in mind. Although we had a few hiccups on the meal– a beer spill got my socks(lol), and the appetizer came out with bacon, the beer spiller came over to make sure I wasn’t upset immediately, and Mike was watching as the food came. The individual who dropped it off hand’t even left before he swooped in and got it sent back. There’s expensive restaurants, and there’s restaurants where they earn every cent. I rarely have $ 65 bills(before the appetizer was removed), but when I do– this is the detailed level of service that should come with it. Well earned five star.

Tasty! We went on a double date. Staff was attentive and polite. Server recommended to order different options and that was the best way to taste many items from the interesting creative menu. For sure will visit again.

I was leaving the beach one day and noticed this place. So, of course I Unilocaled it, and it had pretty good reviews. I decided to give it a try. Unilocalers haven’t failed me yet(except with Another Broken Egg) lol. Well, we went there without reservations and were seated promptly. I loved the décor and the ambience. When our waitress came over, she was very pleasant, and explained the history of the restaurant. I like that they support local farmers and markets After reading the menu, I was kind of iffy about it. It wasn’t too long and I felt the choices were really limited. Hmph… the waitress recommended the Red Snapper and of course my beau decided on steak. Well, the food was DELICIOUS and all the flavors paired well together. The snapper, veggies, and green rice was fresh and flavorful. The steak was cooked to perfection and the Yukon beet mashed potatoes were the best I ever had! You didn’t taste the beets, but the potatoes were smooth and buttery. We loved it! Thanks Unilocalers!

So sorry to write a negative review, but one simple mistake can ruin the whole great experience. Server totally forgot to place my order so we waited for a long time until we finally asked her and she admitted she never placed the order. It was my birthday dinner so it was a bummer to finish out a nice dinner like this. Long wait and minus one dish!

We went here to celebrate our anniversary! Food was great and service was spot on ! We let server Bobby take liberty of ordering for us based on the chefs current ingredients! Could not have asked for better pairing! To end night we had great nite cap of Jamison’s on rocks mixed with carrot cake with cream cheese ice cream! Will try this place again for sure !! Came back and did Dining in the dark! What a thrill. A must try experience. Greg our server completely took charge of the meal and made us trust the chef and staff! Not only not being able to see what it is we are but having to use our hands to eat made it a worth you while experience. We did the 5 course meal which was way more than enough food. The food was prepared in a manner I had come to expect from kitchen staff! Beautifully done and having the food images sent to me after only made me continue to talk about the experience for days after!

We took mom here for happy before dinner at Boatyard(ps: we found out later Boatyard was closed for the evening due to fire). The happy hour starts at 4:30pm but the kitchen opens at 5pm. No problem, let’s get some drinks going before ordering some appetizers. Their got their own signature cocktails, and both my wife and I went with that while ordering a Mojito for mom. I tried their version of the Old Passion called Island Passion. They used 12 year old rum instead of bourbon. It’s okay but just different. My wife ordered the Penicillin, which has scotch, ginger honey and lemon juice. She was not a fan of it but I though it was okay, just different. After 5pm, we ordered a couple of appetizers. The first item we tried was their ceviche. It suppose to have shrimp and tuna, but the portion was so small I can hardly taste them. Also the yucca ship that came with the dish was too hard. So hard I almost crack my tooth. The second dish was the flatbread. The bread was crispy but lacks flavor. However, since appetizers are half off during happy hours, I really can’t complaint too much. Overall, the dinning experience was decent. The restaurant looked beautiful. Love the way the backbar looked. Our bartenders were friendly and provided pretty good service. We maybe back for happy hours but not sure we will try the appetizers again!

This was the best meal I had while on a 4 day work trip to Ft. Lauderdale. I came here on a recommendation of another single fellow female traveler at a restaurant the night before. I’m so glad she suggested this place. Being a single female traveler and dining alone I like to enjoy a nice meal with not a lot of noise read my iPhone and eat in peace. This place was perfect. I sat at a high top at the bar. The crowd was steady but not an overwhelming amount of people, it was a Monday night. I started out with a farm fresh egg appetizer and had a sample size dinner order of antelope. The portions were perfect and no dessert was needed. Thanks to Kiki the bartender who made me a similar fruity drink since she didn’t have 1 of the ingredients for my Mai tai. Great experience and Über’d it back to my hotel on the beach for 5 bucks! Not bad at all!

We rolled into this restaurant around 9pm on a Friday night. It was fairly slow. We sat on the outdoor patio, next to the waterfall, and there was only one other table out there. Not sure what happened to all the people on a Friday night for this restaurant. Upon sitting down, we order a bottle of Cab Sauv — Powers, «Champoux Vineyards Reserve», Horse Heaven Hills, Washington 2012… It was delicious and we paired it ourselves with what we would be ordering. For our appetizer we ordered the Market Ceviche. The ceviche came with these incredible yucca chips, dipped into one of the best ceviche dishes I’ve ever had. It was totally up to par, spot on, incredible! We ordered three of the Entrée Tastings(smaller portions of an entrée to have a more foodie experience): Whole Key West Pink Shrimp, Sweet Tea Brined Pork Loin, Grilled Antelope Loin. For the entrée tastings, we ordered them to come out individually and not all at once, so we could experience each ones different flavors. So given that, we ordered in the way we thought the taste would benefit moving on to the next, saving the«best for last». [SHRIMP] was actually very good. I’ve been on a shrimp kick lately and I wasn’t expecting anything super spectacular here, but it was. It had a nice heat to the dish which complemented it well. [PORK] was the«save the best for last» and we were super bummed it was our middle dish. This entrée far exceeded our expectations. The coulis sauce, the kale, the vegetables, all of it was a playful game on my palette with each bite of pork. By far the best thing that we tried(ok well the ceviche was beyond expectations also, but come on, I hardly ever say anything good about a pork dish. That in itself says enough for me). Seriously, try this dish. It does not disappoint. [ANTELOPE] was good. Neither of us had it before and we were anxious to try it. We thought it would be hearty and the tastes would just override everything else we ordered, and we thought it would be the«best for last» in this line up. It was not. It was good, don’t get me wrong. But the ceviche and the pork definitely stole my foodie heart. The antelope came out in beautiful medium rare strips. The sausage was good and accompanied the antelope meat well. Not sure what it was in the sauce but it was not my favorite. It was sweet and a little overbearing for the meat. I’m definitely a meat junkie and don’t wish anything sweet to overpower any other type of food. It was dauntingly crazy, but the sauce just wasn’t for me. I would try it again, giving warning to the server that the sauce was too sweet last time. But then again, I’d probably just try new things that are on the menu. Since I always post about the food and beverage, I stole this greatness from another Unilocaler«The décor is rather simplistic but classy, the wait staff totally professional and exceedingly helpful.» True! This is definitely a classy restaurant, with some of the best options of food flavors that Fort Lauderdale has to offer. And our server was beyond helpful and friendly in every way possible. The menu at Market 17 is ever-changing on a daily or on a weekly. It really is quite exquisite and I can’t wait to go back! Another rarity that this restaurant offers is called Dining in the Dark. You are placed with one server who is all your own to help you out. You are in a completely dark room and you use all of your other senses to eat your food. CAN’T WAITTOTRYOUTTHISSPECIALFEATURE!!!

This is my new favorite restaurant hands down! The food here is absolutly supurb! We had dinner here the other night and let me just say I was wowed by the intense flavors of each dish we shared. This is a farm to table culinary experience. We started with the Sirloin Tar Tar(raw beef) appitizer. Beef Tar Tar is one of my favorites, and I have eaten it many times. This was from grass fed beef, with ginger soy marinade, jalapeño, pickled celery, benne seeds and garlic crostini. The taste was unreal. Just delicious. I had the grilled antelope loin for my entrée. This was a beautiful dish, and my first time eating antelope. The meat came medium rare, and was tender, sweet and delicious! It was not gamey in the least, and had a sweet taste to it. I would definitely order this again. I also tried the slow roasted duck breast, which was rich and decadant. Every bite was an explosion of flavor. I savored it. Service from Wesley was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I didn’t drink, but they have an extensive wine list. They also serve their food in full or half portions which makes sharing and trying different things easy. The wine is served by the ounce: 3 or 6 ounces, allowing you to taste more. The atmosphere is modern elegant, and upscale but cool and not at all stuffy. I fully enjoyed this progressive restaurant, and will be eating here again soon!

Market 17 is a pleasant surprise all around. Surprise random location, surprise daily menu changes, surprise taster menu, surprise epicness! I can go on and on. My husband ‘surprised’ me with a date night here. He was on the hunt for a restaurant I hadn’t heard of(hard to do when your wifey looks at Unilocal on the regular), but low and behold — he accomplished his task by taking me to Market 17. As soon as he said ok, we’re here. I was like um where, the Yacht club?(In my head of course). As soon as we walked in the ambiance completely changed to high end dining and my eyes lit up like the Unilocaling foodie I am. Once we were seated(zero wait — had reservation for 7:30pm), the immaculate service begun. Our waiter was young and excited to work there; in turn, we got even more excited to be there as well. Below for food & drink: Drink: the Savant — gin based cocktail with sweet orange twang and basil(loved it!) Appetizer: Ceviche — delicious and flavorful. Great starter to wake up your palate. Mains: Ok so for me, this was the fun part. There are options for(get this) every main dish to either be taster size(about $ 20 – 26) or full size($ 37 – 40) entrée **mind blown** Naturally, we did 3 tasters to try more entrees(duh) Cobia — somehow the fish tasted like smoked steak? The flavors blew us both away. Outstanding dish. Snapper — lighter dish that was cooked to perfection(crisp skin and tender fish) on top of basil risotto and epic lemon sauce Antelope — our waiter suggested this dish and it made us like him even more. Medium rare, thin slices with spicy potato, caramelized onion, and additional epicness that’s inexplicable. Dessert: Dulce de Leche custard with Irish whipped cream and biscotti — light and sweet without being over bearing. Great end to a seafood meal. Dessert winner. And guess what, the waiter suggested it(he was bomb). Chocolate chip cookies & milk —(the hubs just had to). It was delicious but we both loved the custard more. Overall: Market 17 was a wonderful, intimate, epically delicious culinary experience. We plan on returning for many more dinners in the future.

My husband and I have been here a couple of times and each time we have really enjoyed ourselves. The food, the atmosphere and the device are all top-notch. We’ve only ever gotten the tasting or prix fixe menus as we feel these are the star presentations for the season. This last time we went there was a special Valentine’s menu. I had the lobster and my husband had the lamb. The food was fresh, not over-worked and simply delicious. We also had an excellent bottle of Malbec during dinner, though I wish our server would have pointed out other selections. Other than that, the service was excellent. We can’t wait to go back!

Market 17 is one of the best dining experiences I’ve had along the eastern Florida coast. This lovely farm to table restaurant was a treat from start to finish. Normally, I prefer dining indoors, but due to the noise levels, my colleague and I opted to be seated in the outdoor area. It was a lovely, cool night in Fort Lauderdale, and the curtain of greenery surrounding the space offered privacy from the street as well as respite from flying insects. Their menu changes daily, depending on what’s in season and available, and I highly recommend whatever local fish is being offered. They can also accommodate food allergies, and took extra care to make sure everything I ordered was made gluten free and safe for me to eat. We started with the ceviche appetizer, which came with wonderfully light, flavorful Yucca chips. Washed down with an Island Fashioned(a twist on the classic, with 12-year old aged rum), it was a great beginning. We followed suit with the Pompano and the Wahoo for our entrees, the latter prepared sashimi-style over rice and crispy lentils, greens, and a whole host of other delicious accompaniments. The Wahoo was so fresh and so good, it practically melted on the tongue. Definitely the best I’ve ever eaten. Our fantastic server, Mikey, offered each of us an expert wine pairing with our dishes. He was super-helpful in navigating the menu, and took time to ensure every part of our dining experience was excellent. If you live in the area, be sure to check this place out, and if you have business at the Convention Center, make this your dinner destination — it’s within walking distance and so worth it, especially if you have a client to impress.

Nice farm to table restaurant in Lauderdale. Good, fresh food with locally sourced ingredients. Service was nice. Went for an early dinner on a Friday evening with the husband. Had a nice bottle wine which was moderately prized. I tried the grouper and it was delicious. Simple elements and ingredients that are elvated in the way they are prepared. Husband had the tuna. The beet salad with kumkuat was very creative and yummy. like!

When my fiancé and I were looking for somewhere to celebrate our anniversary, he left the decision making up to me as to where we should go. Now, to say that I am very indecisive is a huge understatement. I wanted somewhere we’ve never been and someplace we could enjoy a really fantastic meal. I headed straight to my «Bookmarks» and knew immediately — Market 17 it was. I’ve had my eye on this place for so long. Located just off 17th Street prior to going over the bridge(if you are heading East) and right next to the Convention Center. We have arrived! Service was right on point from the moment we walked in. We arrived about 15 minutes before our reservation and just assumed we’d grab a drink at the bar while we waited for our table, but no, a warm and friendly welcome from both of the folks at the hostess station and we were immediately escorted to our table. We decided to sit inside as it was a bit warm out that evening but they do have a beautiful outdoor seating area(maybe next time). Our waiter, Chad, came over. and boy, he was fantastic! Since it was our first time in, he explained the farm-to-table concept — They only serve fresh, clean foods provided by local farmers, ranchers and fishermen. All menu items are prepared based on the availability of the freshest and most available items, so recipes may vary day-to-day. Chad was very attentive and friendly — popped in at exactly the right times and made sure we were well taken care of. Best part of the service — He assured us when we were ordering appetizers and entrée’s at the same time that he would guarantee they were well spaced apart and arrived at the perfect time. and, Yes, he delivered! Is there anything worse than getting your apps and then your meal comes 5 minutes later and it’s cold by the time your ready to dig in?! Horrible. But, Nope. not here. Perfectly timed out. Couldn’t have asked for better timing. Ask for Chad and your dining experience will be spot on. But by the look of it, each and every server seems to be on point and on their A Game. A+ service for sure! Now. It’s time for some cocktails! My fiancé opted to stick with beer and I just couldn’t help it. I had to try the Avotini(or maybe, 2). Yum! Any cocktail that has a combo of cucumber flavored vodka, avocado and pineapple is a winner in my book. After settling in with a few sips, we were ready to order. We decided to start with the Flatbread from the starter menu — Crispy crust with a combo of sautéed mushrooms, red onion and capers — Great way to kick off a wonderful dinner(not too filling but so delicious that it left me excited to try our entrée’s). I had the hardest time making a decision(as usual), but finally decided to go with the Market Harvest. and I am so glad I did! Butternut squash rosti(which I quickly had to Google) topped with a black bean purée, grilled sweet peppers, radishes(my newest obsession), salsa verde and a few dollops of homemade ricotta — Absolutely delicious! Each bite was better than the last! The Hubs(well, soon-to-be) had the Grassfed Beef Tenderloin with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and chimichurri — Wow, Fantastic(cause’ of course I had to try a bite or two)! The beef was cooked perfectly(nice and juicy), crunchy/sweet veggies and let’s face it. Garlic Mashed Potatoes! You’d be nuts not to love garlic mashed potatoes! We were too full for dessert, but my sweet tooth most definitely had me double checking those options. but, hey. there is always next time. Market 17 also does«Dining in the Dark» — This has always appealed to me for so many different reasons, but with my food allergies it also makes me really nervous. Most likely not something I will be trying, but I’d be interested to hear from folks that have done it and what the experience was like. Sounds so intriguing. Looking for a phenomenal atmosphere with an even more amazing meal — Market 17 is a must try! You will not be disappointed! What an Amazing Meal! Let me know what you think.

A large group of us went there for dinner and had a great time. It was VERY dark in there so a couple of us needed flashlights to read the menu– maybe a table lamp would have helped. There’s so much I want to say… let’s start with our server, Rick… amazing, on point, genuine. We told him we only had an hour and he was on top of it. Next, the food… so fresh, so many satisfying flavors. We had the tuna and cobia, both cooked to perfection. To end the meal, I had homemade ice cream, chocolate and orange… speechless. Heck, even the ice tea was great. A definite must. Only down side… we live in Miami and don’t come to ft Lauderdale often. Highly recommend.

Do yourself a favor and dine across the street at Boathouse. The menu prices do not match the dingy atmosphere, frazzled bartender or limited menu items that the chef will not customize. After requesting to have my egg cooked well in the shakshuka I was told the chef could not do it and to select something else.(All this requires is a few seconds under the broiler!) With only a few other menu options(including items I cannot eat) I was left with one chicken option that was so vaguely described on the menu I did not even know what it was! The bartender was happy to let us go when we asked for the check without offering to discount our appetizers or help us select something else. If I was the ownership here I’d be unhappy with the level of service the staff is providing to valuable customers. Risky when there are so many dining options in Fort Lauderdale.

Just finished with dining in the dark experience. And it is an experience that no restauranteur should miss! I celebrated my one year anniversary with my girlfriend, and it could not have been a better venue. The key to meal is, of course, the great farm-to-table food that is expertly prepared by the chefs; the key to the dining in the dark experience, however, is the waiter — Greg. He begins by explaining the dining in the dark concept and fixed menu options while also encouraging you to abandon the silverware so that the raw sense of touch can be used. Without a doubt, heed this advice as it amplifies the experience and brings you back to the childhood days when food was touched by your hands before your mouth. From there, Greg meticulously serves every dish and explains it after you finished eating it(but not before you attempt to guess the different components of every one.) Armed with nothing but night vision goggles, Greg makes sure your glass of water is never close to being empty which is more than I can say for waiters who fill my water in the light. As far as the food itself, it’s phenomenal. We began with a wonderful heirloom tomato salad with shrimp. From there, we enjoyed a beautiful local fish followed by the beef cheek dish and bison. The highlight was the duck breast which tasted as if we had discovered the perfect meat in the absence of light. We had no clue what it was because the taste seemed to perfect to have been anything we had ever before consumed. Truly, this dark experience enhances taste, touch, and dining. This is how food should be experienced, and it is my hope that everyone has the chance.

The food here was FRESH! The flavors that the chefs used to create the dishes were amazing, but they didn’t detract from or cover up the fresh flavors in the food. The waiter was incredibly knowledgable and enthusiastic about the food which allowed us to have complete and all around delicious experience with the meal. Dining in the dark is sketchy to me but eating that meal makes me think that the people that enjoy that kind of thing probably don’t go wrong.

Market 17 is a true 5-star restaurant, meaning it isn’t just 5-star for Fort Lauderdale, but would be the same in any city. We’re just lucky to have it in Fort Lauderdale. The service was excellent, even during the reservation process. We needed to modify our reservation twice after it was originally made, but we were easily accommodated and without any annoyance on Market 17’s part. We were treated like a guest on the phone, and from the minute we entered the dining room. The theme of the restaurant is «market to table», and our dinner last night proved that it’s working. We started with ceviche which was delicious. It had just a hint of a kick and combined cobia and shrimp with the crunch of some vegetables. Our party had a variety of main courses, from the shrimp, served head-on, to the antelope. Everything was outstanding and everyones plate went back empty! The wine list is extensive and we had no trouble finding the perfect wine for the evening at the price we wanted. In summary, great service and great food. There’s even ample free parking adjacent to the restaurant. You really can’t get better than Market 17!

Visited restaurant for dinner with the group. As soon as you open the menu, you can see that restaurant is focused on fresh, farm-to-table, food — last page of the menu contains the list of various farms where the restaurant is sourcing their ingredients from. Menu is of reasonable size and is changing often. I had ceviche, which was fresh and a bit spicy. For the entrée, I had Rare Seared Florida Wahoo, which was very nicely cooked, but unevenly seared(top layer was very salty). Roasted pumpkin Crème Brûlée was good, but I guess you have to really like pumpkin to enjoy it. Wine list had a good size and well appointed — it was at a standard triple markup, which is okay, but not something which makes me excited. Look for off-beat and eclectic choices, like Italian Pecorino, for instance, to get the most bang for your buck. The restaurant offers a very interesting concept of dining in the complete darkness, where you sit in completely dark room, eat with your hands, and waiters were night vision goggles to serve the food. We didn’t try it, but conceptually sounds very interesting. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. Recommended.

All I can say about Market 17 is WOW!!! Sooo delicious. This place executes the farm to table concept phenomenally. The owners are also sommeliers, so they have quite an extensive wine list. Although we didn’t speak to Josh, the sommelier there that evening, our waiter let us know that he was available to help us find the right wine for our dinner. Service was impeccable the whole night and the restaurant had a great ambience. They were pretty empty for a Saturday night but this is likely due to the fact that it was Halloween. The waiter brought out some brown butter cornbread to start us off, which was a nice change to the traditional bread baskets at restaurants. We ordered the crispy pork belly and a kale salad for appetizers. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and was served atop a bed of crumbled cornbread and collard greens. The kale salad was light, refreshing, and citrusy. I can’t recall the type of dressing but it was amazing. For our entrees, we ordered a pretty large variety of items. One of the great things about this place is that you are able to order many of the entrees in a «tasting» portion, which is probably about half of a regular portion. It’s great for ordering a lot of things and sharing all the dishes with others. Here’s everything we ordered with my opinion of it: — Chicken breast: very well seasoned, served on a pureed malanga and accompanied by broccolini and a mixture of almonds and beet pesto. This is one of the more flavorful chicken dishes I’ve eaten in a long time and everything on the plate was delicious. — Beef tenderloin: cooked perfectly medium rare and served on seasoned fingerling potatoes. The beef was tasty, but those potatoes were out of this world. — Key West Shrimp: GIANT shrimp(with heads and tails on) served on top of green beans and roasted corn risotto. The shrimp were tender and buttery, the green beans were amazing, and the risotto was pretty good, but not the star of the dish. — Grilled Emu Filet: I’ve never had emu, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a delicious cross between beef and chicken, and served on a bed of lentils and carrots. This was one of my favorite entrees of the night. Definitely must try the emu if it’s on the menu when you’re there(they rotate their game dishes every so often so there might be elk or another protein instead of emu). — Rare seared wahoo: I’ve also never had wahoo, but was delicious. Even more delicious was the coconut rice and pesto(or something like that) underneath it, but the wahoo was my other favorite entrée of the night. For dessert we ordered the cookies(brown butter chocolate chip) and milk and the chocolate semifreddo. Both were delicious and I wouldn’t hesitate to order either again. The cookies and milk came with 3 cookies, but the waiter was willing to add another to accommodate our party of 4. After dessert came, our waiter learned that were were celebrating my dad’s birthday. Since we hadn’t mentioned it prior to dessert, he brought out a scoop of ice on a plate reading«happy birthday» and a candle to blow out. A sweet little gesture that was the icing on the cake of an already fantastic meal. If this place was close to my house, I would be there at least once a month if not more often. This was one of the better meals I’ve had in a while. Definitely go check it out!

I must say that this place was better than I expected. Some high end fine dining go out of their way to be trendy or hip and lose on taste. Market 17 hit the mark on both. We had the ceviche and the pork filets, with banana Crème Brule for desert, everything was outstanding! They also have an amazing wine selection. Great job Market 17!

Fantastic meal and terrific service. Donald was a joy and super efficient from taking our order to refreshing our drinks. We started with a cocktail — white Manhattan made with an unaged rye. It tasted just like a Manhattan without the brown color. The Folly was a slightly sweet pineapple drink mellowed out with bitters. We started with a couple of appetizers: ceviche served with tarro chips plus the veggie flatbread topped with kale, pickled cauliflower and an herby sauce as the base. The ceviche was terrific. We opted to try several tasting portions of the dishes including the antelope served on a bed of wild rice, beet purée and vegetables. The cobia was light and tender served over a coconut rice dotted with an herby green sauce and served with roasted root vegetables plus baby bok choy. The harvest stack was a tasty stacking of crispy eggplant, summer squashes and tempeh. It was topped with a tangy sauce. We didn’t care much for the tempeh but loved the veggies. So when on vacation enjoy dessert right? we indulged in the brown butter chocolate chip cookies plus the flourless chocolate cake served with an ice cream sandwich dipped in chocolate. It was all too much but really terrific.

I was expecting an exceptional experience and was not disappointed. The service is really great, with knowledgeable and attentive servers helping to navigate the farm-to-table menu: hence my first experience with grilled emu.(It does not taste like chicken; more like a very lean and mild roast beef.) The host was one of three sommeliers; he guided us to a delicious red blend from France. We loved all the attention. The menu features small«tasting» plates and larger servings. Our server suggested a platter of meat and cheeses, a salad and starter and 2 – 3 small plates to share. The tastings serving is pretty generous so keep that in mind. The fish entres and soft shell crab app. were great. The emu was surprisingly delicate. All side dishes were as fresh and tasty as can be — farro and grilled and pickled farm veggies. And the dessert… turned out to be the highlight of this birthday dinner: do not miss the cookies and milk! Yes. Chocolate chip cookies that taste like they were lovingly prepared for hours and hours — because they are! Apparently the prep time for all the ingredients is like 2 days. Really, don’t miss them! An expensive meal but we ordered a lot. You could order to two full servings and share an appetizer or salad and you would be fine. Definitely worth a visit.

A heavy gastronomic experience influenced by an incredible atmosphere and extreme creativity and plating. This place disappointed but also satisfied immensely. It would’ve been 4 star except a major mistake on my plate. I’ll explain We had a huge birthday party and therefore experienced many of the meals and appetizers. Some were home runs and some were above average… But when you pay that heavy of a price with such phenomenal cooking technique at a gourmet place, I expect palate perfection. Apps Yes: Lamb! Charcuterie board Average: Ceviche, Cajun gravy Croquette, Watermelon Salad(weird but good) Entrée:(can’t remember them) Yes: chicken dish, one of the fish dishes w curry, Average: duck(read more below) Dessert was amazing The duck I had was not the same as anyone else’s. I had thick cuts of some end part of the duck, slightly over cooked with only 1 perfectly cooked piece. They also forgot my onion topping. Picture added

This is a great place. I was really impressed with the service and quality of the food. The restaurant has a classy modern décor, with soft lighting and contemporary music in the background. Very nice atmosphere. All dishes have a true gourmet touch, and the menu changes on a frequent basis since it depends on what raw materials are available from local farms. Today we tried the Cauliflower flatbread, as an appetizer, the seared Wahoo and the Antelope as entrees, and they were all delicious. However, the winner tonight for my taste was the Wahoo. It was perfectly seared, very light taste, and it was served with coconut rice, roasted vegetables and a cilantro paste. The combination worked really well. And for dessert, banana crème brûlée… Delicious!

Came in on a Monday night for our anniversary dinner and it exceeded our expectations. We are on vacation from D. C and didn’t know much about where to go in the area. Thanks to Unilocal,we found Market 17. On the way to the restaurant, our Über driver said he didn’t know about the place and that he thought most of the businesses in the building had closed. It was pretty empty for dinner. Only 5 other tables while we dined. Loved this place! The décor was chic and upscale and the food was delicious. Every single bite! They have the farm fresh to table concept and yes, everything tasted fresh! We got the chef’s tasting with the wine pairing, which offers 6 courses paired with 6 different wines. Definitely pricey but so worth it because we enjoyed everything! The wine pairings were also spot on! We even caught a slight buzz! The service was absolutely perfect and on point. We couldn’t have had a better experience. Usually, when a place has such high ratings on Unilocal,we find it to be extremely overrated. This was not the case. We left full and happy. Such a special experience!

7÷11÷2015 — When I arrived at this place I was expecting something different. The brand they represent in their website says; «Our Ft Lauderdale restaurant located at Portside is a unique farm-to-table organic restaurant, or as we like to call it «wine country cuisine». As you walk in through their posh doors, the look of the restaurant inside is more of a high end restaurant. And it is. There are no farmer’s tables… I guess I expected a Cheese Course store look. Nonetheless, I was not disappointed, maybe a little confused. But of course, I did not come here for the décor, but for the food. Our reservation was for 7:00pm, we arrived earlier so we decided to sit by the bar. We ordered the Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre, Claude Riffault, «Les Boucauds», Loire Valley, France ’13. They offer 3oz($ 9) and 6oz($ 18) pours. Pay attention to the prices as it jumps pretty high based on the pours. Finally, we were ready to be seated. Our server was Michelle. She explained the concept of the restaurant and the menu. We decided to order the Six-Course Menu paired with Wine. It included two appetizers, three entrees, one dessert. Let the foodie experience begin!!! First Course was the Pan Roasted Pork Steak, capers, red pepper, sautéed kale, mustard gastrique. It was paired with a sparkling wine. Second Course, Crispy Eggplant, Tempeh, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Arugula. The crispy eggplant just melted in your mouth. It was paired with a white wine. Third Course, Whole Spicy Key West Shrimp, Herbed farro, pickled Onions, Grapefruit, Candied Hazelnuts, Arugula and Herb Tips Salad, Eggplant Pudding. It was paired with Rose Domaine Fontsainte, «Gris de Gris», Corbieres, Languedoc, France 2013. The shrimp has the right amount of heat. Fourth Course, Roasted Pasture Farmed Chicken breast, aged cheddar &beet Fregola pasta, peaches, radish, broccoli, pistachio aillade. It was paired with a Pinot Noir. This was by far my favorite dish; this was not your ordinary chicken dish. So fresh and juicy, the peaches and pistachio aillade elevated this dish. The best part was the skin. Fifth Course, Grilled Antelope Loin, Toasted Wild Rice, Rosemary Rainbow Carrots, Cauliflower, Scallions, Fennel, Blackberry Mustard. It was paired with a rich red wine. This dish was a masterpiece, cooked to perfection. Sixth Course, DESSERT, Chocolate Soufflé with a homemade ice cream sandwich. I dipped my ice cream in the soufflé, it needed it, it was a bit dry. The dessert was paired with a sweet white wine. The dinner was stupendous. Every single dish and wine came in sync with each other. The staff worked so well together, we must have been served by the entire staff including the manager. KUDOS! I highly recommend this experience, this way you can try a variety of dishes.
