I was a frequent visitor to Mustard Seed Bistro in Plantation since it opened in December of 2009. I had always enjoyed the the atmosphere, food and desserts. I understand lunch time is very busy and I agree there is always a wait, that is not the issue. The issue is over time, since it’s initial opening, the staff has become deficient and the owners have lacked a great deal in acknowledging repeat customers. I have had friends including myself, who see the owners apparently act as if we are not important. News flash, we are the ones patronizing the business and keeping the doors open. I’m a firm believer in taking note that my money spends the same anywhere which is the reason I no longer frequent the business. There is no need for the owners of the business to act as though customers are not important. Those who rise the fastest fall the hardest. I will say if their business fails and they close, I will be the last one laughing. Grapevine previously occupied the business for roughly 20 plus years and guess what, THEYCLOSED. Seems to be nothing is safe. I have spoken with other people in the plaza whose business I have frequented and they have all relayed the same from themselves and customers that have frequented their stores and Mustard Seed Bistro. The attitude from Laura and Tim leave a lot to be desired. I’m certain I will be getting the last laugh. So they say, all good things must come to an end so Tim and Laura, good luck… Enjoy it while you can and while it lasts… I’m certain this business will not la st forever

There is a place for every occasion! I have been here to this one, and the one in University. I love both of them, very home feel. I found out the Chef was Peruvian, and that made me happier. Great food, slow service… but the food is good enough to make the trip and wait.

Very tasty huevos rancheros! Good coffee and baguettes. I like. UPDATE: I went today for breakfast again and my friend and I both noticed the overall quality had dropped. Orange juice was no longer fresh squeezed. It tasted like concentrate from Publix, served in a nice glass though. The huevos were about 50% as tasty as last time for some reason. I think they forgot the sauce or beans or something. My omlette was dry and boring. We both were disappointed :(minus two stars.

We took friends here for a celebration dinner on Saturday night and we loved it! Big city dining at value prices — it’s not cheap, but it’s fantastic value for what you get. Don’t be put off by its location in a strip mall. Once inside, you are whisked away to a charming bistro. Just bring a sweater as the AC is a little cold. The service was top-notch. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations. The menu changes frequently, but our party had the Peruvian seafood stew, the mahi-mahi and the duck. The duck was surprisingly NOT greasy and could have benefitted from slightly more saucing, but was otherwise cooked to perfection. Both seafood dishes were likewise cooked perfectly. Another bonus is that while they do serve wine and beer, they allow you to bring your own for a $ 15 corkage fee. Definitely worth the trip!

We had dinner here with friends on a Saturday evening and it was really good. Our service was fine although the waiter just a little flaky. The food however was outstanding. I had the crab cake appetizer that was delicious and the halibut for dinner. It was delicious, I didn’t want to share. My husband had the peruvian stew which he enjoyed. I would definitely go here again. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. The menu does change so try it all.

The ladies treated me to a happy birthday lunch here a few weeks ago, and it was really terrific. It’s a small place, but the food is high quality. This is off the beaten path, on Griffin Road, but it’s worth the journey. If you liked the Upper Crust in Plantation and Milk and Honey in Pembroke PInes, this is the same chef. Seems he is on the move again. Saw a sign that they were moving to the Grapevine location in Plantation. Anyway, back to the food, it’s a great lunch spot, since I have not dined there for dinner. The portions are generous and the food is fresh and tasty. Try it…

I always have a positive experience while dining here. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable about all of the dishes that they serve. I agree with the poster below who recommends the tasting menu. Paired with a great bottle of wine, my party of 3 particularly enjoyed the crab cakes and lamb. The service is friendly and attentive, anything but slow, as someone else suggested. The food and atmosphere are amazing, and I just booked a reservation there for my next birthday.

Mustard Seed Bistro is a little neighborhood restaurant. I stumbled across it a few months ago when I was on my way to its neighbor, The Roman Oven(best slice in South Florida). I thought, «Hmm, what’s this place?» so I stopped in for a quick lunch. My expectations were neither high nor low, I was just grabbing a quick bite. I ate a chicken sandwich with bride cheese and apples. Simple, but great. I was eating and thinking, «OK, looks like I have found a new lunch place,» when I overheard the table behind me ask the waiter if they could see a dinner menu. Intrigued, I asked for one, as well. My waiter explained to me that this was a sample dinner menu, as it changes every week. He went on to tell me(with sincerity) how great the chef is, how creative he is and while lunch is great, dinner is really where the place shines. True, true aaaaand true. «If you’re a foodie, you’ll love dinner here.» About three weeks later, my wife and I went for dinner. I can babble and babble about how great it was, but I won’t do it justice. To be honest, I don’t remember exactly what was on that evening’s printed menu, as we went with our waitress’ suggestion to do a tasting menu. We sat back and left it in their hands. We ate a five-course tasting. The first course was a sea scallop«benedict» with buffalo sausage and hollandaise sauce. A+. Following that, was what our waitress described as the chef’s play on peanut butter & jelly. .. with foie gras. It was an open-faced«sandwich» of sorts. The base was a toast round, topped with a thin layer of peanut butter, grape jam and of course, foie gras. Roasted peanuts finished the dish. Next up was the fish course. Simple, but brilliant. A piece of seared snapper(I forget the exact name of the fish, but we were told that it’s from the Bahamas) with a light pomodoro sauce. Course #4 was a lamb chop. Yes, the preparation was great(mint-red wine sauce and and herb crust), but it was a really high-quality meat regardless. After the meal, when we had a word with the chef, he told us the name of the farm where he gets his lamb and I made it a point to remember. Did I actually remember? Nope! :-) For dessert, we were served a plate with little pieces of a few different things. I don’t recall all of them, but one does stand out. .. it was an oatmeal cookie crust cheesecake. Ohhhhh man! Stop reading and just go try this place. This tiny little place in a strip mall in Cooper City, is serving food that rivals anything on South Beach. Yes, really.

We had a dinner reservation for 4 at 7:30pm, we were not greeted at 7:40ish when we arrived, and all the tables were full, none of them recently sat. We had to approach staff to tell them who we were instead of them greeting us. When we were seated a little after 8, we did not receive water, bread, or get asked if we were ready to order for about another 30 min. So I would start my review by saying they have slow service! We had checked out the menu online before hand, and only one or two of the items online were actually on the menu, but they were priced considerable higher. Online, the highest price dinner is $ 26 or so and the actually high price dinner there was $ 39, big difference in my opinion. I got the crab cake app, which I have to say were some of the best crab cakes I have ever had. Unfortunately, the dinner I got paled in comparison. I got the salmon and it was just alright, nothing rememorable. I actually prefer the salmon at Geronimos which is about 1⁄3 of the price. The other fish dishes ordered at my table where just OK, nothing that was«delicious». The sides that came with the fish were just standard, mashed potatoes and green beans. I expect more for a $ 30 dinner. We did not order dessert. I would go again for the crab cake app, which the waiter said you can order as an entrée too, but I don’t know what the price of that is, he did not say. The bathrooms were very clean, but they were one person bathrooms and a lady was sick in the ladies room, so my friend had to use the men’s after 20 min. of the woman not coming out…(I hope she is OK)! We are going to try the lunch to see if we have a better experience. I wanted to love this place because it is walking distance from my house and the only«higher end» place around. Maybe they are still having growing pains. so we will try again. If they read this, speed up your service, be a little more friendly(the owner), and don’t charge so much, you don’t have the ambiance to carry off those high prices!(4 of us with only 3 entrees and 2 apps, no drinks, was $ 120)

FABULOUS!!! This is by far, my absolute favorite new restaurant. You’d drive right by if you didn’t know it was there. They have only been open for 5 mths, have not advertised, but word of mouth is filling the seats in this tiny Bistro. The service is impeccable, the food is outstanding!!! The prices are very very reasonable for the quality of food. I was there twice this past week, with 2 different ppl for lunch, they both loved it. I have a breakfast date(for crème brûlée french toast) and a dinner date scheduled there next week. I can’t get enough. The grilled portobello sandwich, with arugula, roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella was to die for!!! I’ve been dreaming about it since my last visit. Their dinner menu changes weekly. This place is owned by husband and wife, who were the original owners of Uppercrust Café’ in Plantation. Give it a try, you’ll be planning your next visit, before you leave your table!
