Nails by Cindy

I’ve been nail salon hopping. A lot lately.
I do have an independent nail artist I adore, but she does this spectacular bejeweled nail art wizardry that can easily siphon your day, time I just never seem to have. The problems I’ve mainly encountered with all these every-​block nail places are the TURNOVER and the I-​JUST-​STARTED-​DOING-​NAILS workers. I feel like once I start a little nail relationship with a good tech, I show up, he’s gone and they stick me with «the new one». I’ve tried to get specific, too, requesting a certain level of skill and ability of the tech before I’m assigned a seat. Bait and switch then occurs. I ramble.
I’m reviewing Nails by Cindy because they were just so nice and because I wasn’t really expecting it — I got a great tech. Its a small place, they line the ped bowls w plastic, the tools were sanitized, they wore gloves, its not glitzy new but everything looked clean enough. The prices were about right, they didn’t price gouge me for my little designs. An extra star for accommodating me being differently abled.
Satisfied.

Big fan. Cindy’s was great and they had a great selection of polishes (gel and regular) to choose from. My friend and I enjoyed a glass of wine while relaxing in the very comfortable pedicure chairs for a mani/​pedi. Will definitely be back! So glad to have found such a great nail salon within walking distance of my apartment.

Update: the next day my nails are chipping really bad. So yeah, I am very unhappy about this. I have not been doing dishes or anything else that would cause my nails to chip.
The pros:
*Quick (for a mani/​pedi). They had a guy working on my feet while a woman did my hands.
*Fairly inexpensive $ 35 for mani/​pedi combo
*the hand & foot massage was really great! (so nice!)
Cons:
*Not a very impressive nail polish selection & many of them were old and separating
*the place isn’t very nice
*There was a male employee clipping his nails on the chair near me
*the same man was walking around the shop eating with his mouth open
*The woman filed the nails on my left hand way too short and I had to ask her to file down the right hand so it would be even (otherwise the right hand would be significantly longer)
The nail polish does not evenly cover the nails and/​or edges.
Overall it was an okay experience. I liked that it was quick and fairly in expensive. The nail polish selection was not very impressive. I was also not happy that the woman made my nails so short (i told her to only shorten them a little. she shorten them all the way down and I had no free edge after she was done). They did a good painting the nails (with a few spots missing the top coat). And the massage was nice.

The good news is my nails look decent. But I had to coach the woman on how to shape my nails. Square nails aren’t supposed to have razor sharp edges. They need to be slightly rounded at the corners. It took three requests to get them in a normal square shape. She left one hand with nails visibly longer than the other. I had to ask her to file down one hand so my nails were even on both hands.
The experience was rather unpleasant. The guy working on my feet was a bit better but both were clearly not happy to be there and the let it show big time. And it was really expensive too.
To round it all out, the television was on some sort of religious infomercial type thing for a charity with very graphic descriptions of starving children. I’m sensitive to the problem of starving children in third world countries but it was on the whole time and it was very disturbing. Really not the kind of thing you want to watch while you get your nails done. I looked away of course but the sound was on so I got to hear some of the most depressing stories I’ve ever heard all while getting my nails done.
Not recommended.

Find this place! They have a super friendly staff that really knows how to pamper you. In town for a wedding and so we got manicures and pedicures and were thoroughly impressed and delighted. Thanks Nails by Cindy team!

I found this place after getting my nails done at the Marriott harbor Beach. I actually paid 155 for something that looked like an amateur did. The nail Polish was not smooth and uneven on the nails ., the acrylic was lumpy and let’s not even begin with the nail polish on my toes were just GOD awful and all over my toes.
I sat at the bar very disappointed and google nail places and nails by Cindy came up. It’s literally 4 mins from the hotel. I walked in and TOM was my nail tech… 3 words A-​MA-​Zing… He was knowledgeable and took time his to correct everything that was wrong which was everything. He made me laugh, he talked, he sung and my overall experience was above and beyond… Thanks to ToM!!!
I would love to have Tom move to the DC area !!! That’s how great he is!!!‘

Worse threading experience ever. I m
Used to having my eyebrows thread for over decades now. This place didn’t know what threading is. Started using tweezers to thread. So I had to walk out before they messed up my eyebrows. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

$ 14 manicure… good selection of colors, and my manicure looks awesome. However, I have to deduct two stars for cleanliness… the towel that my manicure was done on had someone else’s clipped nails on it… ew.

Went for the first time today. Very friendly and clean. Lots of colors and polish brands. Best pedicure in years. Will definitely go back.

I have been going to Nails by Cindy for over 2 years. Cindy and her staff are well-​trained and very professional and efficient. I have had my nails done by every technician there and can truly say that they are all good! Great, relaxing manis/​pedis.
They have a vast array of nail colors by OPI and ESSIE. Cindy offers other services such as waxing and threading.
It’s a very friendly and pleasant place, which is very important to me. I have been to other salons in the area over the past 20 years and they honestly cannot compare. Since I found Nails by Cindy… I have become a loyal customer. Highly recommend!

Really liked this place. Very friendly and did a great job on my mani-​pedi. Yes men get them too. Found them on Unilocal and had to try this location during my recent vacation.

I’m super critical of nail salons!!! The salon has to be clean, the nail tech has to be quick and efficient, and they have to be able to draw nail art. Done, done and done :) Prices are average for Harbordale and the staff is friendly. It’s located in a shopping center so there’s a parking lot. Perf!

I live in Harbordale and have tried many nail salons in the area but this is the BEST ! Cindy the owner is very consistent about the way things are done in her salon and is very personable, making sure the customer is pleased. She has a well trained, professional staff who are very skilled in nail application and manicures of all types. It is a convienent location in Southport shopping center across from Ross and not too far from the Quarterdeck and Raw Bar. I get consistently exceptional get nails with a great choice of colors applied with great skill and care. Cindy also does eyebrow threading, waxing,& pedicures as well. I get loads of complements on my nails every day. Being a southerner I am very keen on people being friendly and polite and these people have always been so with me. If you catch yourself in Ft Lauderdale coming to shop call ahead or just drop in. I am sure you will find the professionals there will please you and you may also make some new friends!
