A cute little store right in the same plaza as the Egg and You — and some great little antique stores(just break the bank). Pond Hoppers sells English goodies for the expats(and those of us who just love some of the unusual foods readily available in the British Isles). No need to look any further for a healthy variety of English mustards(Coleman’s!), custards, Coleman spice mixes for shepherd’s pies et al and even a frozen assortment of pasties and meat pies. If you’re craving that special something you miss from back home(if you’re from Great Britain) or that summer spent backpacking about… this is the place for you — great assortment of toffees and candies too.

This is a little British food, grocery and items of interest store located in the strip mall plaza right behind Eggs & You at the corner of Federal and 26th Street. It’s small, real small, but has an assortment of otherwise difficult to find British food items in jars, cans, boxes and so forth; nothing fresh or made on the premises. It’s one of the only places I can find Shipman’s spreads, certain chutneys and a few other items I haven’t been able to locate anywhere else within the Fort. Every time I’ve been in there I seem to have been the only customer. It really doesn’t have all that many items but then, for all I would know, there probably aren’t that many items essential to British cuisine, if there is such a thing as British cuisine, anyway. Guess you can tell I’m not British? But it is an A-OK place, very friendly service and sort of fun to stop by for a looky-see of what they have.

«Alright mate?» «Alright !» This seems to be the standard greeting in this place. Bisto gravy… check Branston Pickle — check HP sauce —(fruity and regular) — check Irn Bru — Check(Awesome…only place I’ve found it in South Florida) Lucozade — check McVities Digestives — check Sausages and puddings and rashers and cornish pasties… double check A wee small hard to find store just off Federal Highway selling Irish and English goodies you won’t find easily in grocery stores in South Florida. Pictures of the owner and his ma outside of The Rover’s Return on Coronation Street give a very homey feel to this spotlessly clean, well stocked store specializing in British and Irish groceries. Ready made curry sauces and curry/indian food helpers up the ying yang. Lots of hangover helping Ribena, Lucozade and Irn Bru. Need a wee drop of Dettol to cleanse that nasty cut? How about a box of Radox to ease away those aches and pains in a nice bath. Biccies and Tea of all sorts… Barrys, Typhoo and McVities digestives to go with on the side. Crisps and sweeties. A whole roll of blackcurrant Fruit Pastilles! Never heard of when I was a young un. Picked Onions and Mixed Pickles to go with your cheddar and crackers. Lyles black treacle and Lyles golden syrup and Paxo stuffing mix. The list goes on and you could spend a fortune here… but they have it all online also. Yay for the taste of home :)
