Fantastically run bar. We came here on a whim to support Rick and Carla and were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by enthusiastic patrons and a lovely owner, Sue. I have never met someone more passionate about what she does or so welcoming. She listens to all of the feedback(see note below — they now have business cards.) The drinks are very reasonably priced(we are based in Miami) and Sue went out of her way to make sure we felt welcome in her home. We are so glad we made the trip and will for sure make it a regular hang out.

So this place has had a few reincarnations… the latest and probably best is «That Bar». Sue, the owner, has transformed this into a New York Piano Bar setting. On Sunday nights you can see the amazing Rick Leonard and Carla Bordonada. On the last Saturday of the month, you can come and experience a great open mic piano bar experience. I was there the night that Rick Leonard was performing with Amy Miller Brennan, a local theatre celebrity who comes and sings every once and a whole, and the show was spectacular. Drinks are reasonably priced and the service was amazing. I have been here before for Rick and Carla. Carla had what had to be one of the best voices I have ever heard. She is definitely one not to be missed. They are really working to make this place something very unique to our area. Definitely come and check it out, have a drink or three and enjoy the live NY Cabaret style show.

I could tell when we walked in the door we were immediately out of place. The clientele seemed to be in the 60’s-80’s age range. We were there for karaōke, and the service, drinks, and karaōke were all nice. The only thing is the karaōke was super tame, like think hits of the 30’s — 70’s. I do say I love this area regardless of being a little too young for the crowd.

Tonight was my first time at this bar… I really had a great time at that bar. Their happy hour special was 2 for 1 for top shelf and 3 for 1 for well. When I first walked began to walk up I discovered it was karaōke night… Fortunately those who sang did a really good job. By the time I left not only did I have the pleasure of speaking to the owner, I walked out with a friend or two. It’s a nice place to just go and chill without an overabundance of noise, crazy music or otherwise. To sit there and chat and make new friends, to me was the best feeling in a big city/town area. Reminded me more of a cheers atmosphere. Most knew each other’s names, and I walked out with the pleasure of knowing Fred, Alex, Carol, Sonny, Tj… And a woman who referred to me as buckeye! I honestly loved the atmosphere, the drinks, and the company. Best wishes to this new bar on the block!

They’ve tried everything and every type of bar at this location. It’s been the venue of cocktail lounges, gay bars(think Dudes), gay stripper bars(think Dudes II), Bahama stylized cocktail lounges(think Cabana), plus a long list of others and they’ve all turned out to be third rate losers. Now it is «That Bar» which in my opinion is yet another to soon be added to this locations long list of failures. The décor inside isn’t bad, matter of fact pretty good with predominate white in combination with red and blue enhancements. It’s clean, rather well set up, but it’s not a fun place. Matter of fact just being in there was to me a total drag. They have a piano player, but after an hour I never heard him complete a single song, being too busy chatting with customers. Then, to add to that problem they allow congenitally tone deaf musically inept customers do most of the singing. I don’t think I’ve ever heard so many discordantly off or unharmonious dissonant musical notes in my life. Trust me on this. If you have a good ear, it’s near enough to end you up going out on the street to wrench your guts out. To top all of that off and as if to assist in their own business demise, they’ve opened without any business cards, a taped on but peeling away name on their illegible main sign, no flyers, no web site other than a FaceBook or decent promotionals.
