I ordered the mushroom/black sesame noodles with the steam pork dumplings and shared it with one other person. The mushroom/black sesame noodles was surprisingly good and the portion is huge. Service was good as well, they bring you more kimchi without you even asking which is always a plus.

NOODLES&RICECAKESMADEIN-HOUSE Myung Dong Noodle House is best known for their KALGUKSU and DDUKBOKKI. The noodles are made in the restaurant, and the rice cakes are freshly prepared as well. The kalguksu with chicken broth and dumplings is pretty bland, which is why you need to have every bite with their garlicky kimchi so that the flavors can be well-balanced. The kimchi is very strong in garlic flavors(maybe too strong for some) and is not too fermented, making a sharp complement to the broth and soft noodles. The noodles are so fresh that they get very soft over time, so eat this quickly on a cold winter night! The SEAFOODDDUKBOKKI($ 15.95) is really amazing. The rice cakes are probably the softest I have had; they melt in your mouth as you chew, which I haven’t seen in other Korean restaurants. Because it is served in hot stone, the sauce gets crunchy after sitting out and is really great with white rice if you finished all the rice cake. We also tried the BULGOGI($ 15.95) which is softer in texture than other bulgogi I have tried. There were no pieces of fat present on the meat — the good parts of the meat must have been ground and put back together because it fell apart very easily! The service was excellent here. Our barley tea was refilled very frequently and always put more kimchi in our banchan. I do wish there was more variety in their banchan, but I think they really wanted to concentrate on the kalguksu and other noodle dishes.

Here I am for third time! It’s that good. I had noodle soup with chicken and dumplings(my fav winter soup) and my gf had spicy seafood noodle soup. Both tasted fantastic.

This place is always packed, and it’s good place to have a nice Korean food! Even though it’s packed I never waited for the table more than 5 min! Prices are pretty good for the amount of food you are getting! Stuff is very nice and helpful! If you crave good Korean soup or BBQ go there check it out

I’ve come here over ten times and it’s been excellent every single time. I have tried the original kalgooksoo, the spicy mushroom, the spicy noodles, dumplings, and Dolsot bibimbap. I gotta say, the original kalgooksoo and dolsot bibimbap are the winners for me. Also, they give you generous refills for cabbage and kimchi and are always friendly. The food comes out fast too which is a nice perk

My first impression of going here was«this place is packed. It has to be good!» Well, it probably has something to do with a rain this weekend but the soup for the Kal Gook Soo was on point– non spicy Kal Gook Soo was still somewhat spicy which is normal for Kal Gook Soo. I like spicy food so I had no issues.(Note that the spiciness I am referring to is not the one that lasts. It may be spicy, but you won’t be looking for a cold water or milk to calm yourself down lol) So make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into when you go for one. I would give Kal Gook Soo itself a 4, but side dishes(Kimchis– 2 varieties) were medicore at best.

I was a bit hesitant to check out myung dong after hearing that their food was bland but I was pleasantly surprised! I wouldn’t go crazy over this place but the kalgukso and the spicy galbi tang were both pretty decent. My only two complaint are… More side dishes! Two different types of kimchi is just boring. I also thought that the kalgukso could use a little bit more meat but other than that the flavor was great. Overall, I enjoyed the kalgukso more than the galbi tang.

Had the Kal-gook-soo() haing some pretty big expectations because this place is always packed and the name of the place is called Kal-gook-soo… well, the food was eh. I mean in korea, this would be like $ 3-$ 4 but in North Jersey, its $ 10. But in terms of taste, I thought they made the broth a tad bit salty, with just way too much black pepper. I rather it be similar to gam-mee-ok and give me the soup bland with salt and pepper on the side so I can render how salty I want my broth to be. I hear the noodles are home made and thats how they try to justify the higher price. But overall, if you want soup with noodles, I guess this would be one of your options. Other soup with noodles options are the japanese ramen places around the corner on center and on main st, or the chinese Jjam-Bbohng places on lemoine or on main st.

The first time I visited Myung Dong, I had a somewhat rude waitress by-what I believe to be– the name of Eun. I had the spicy hot beef noodle dish and was not impressed by the quality of the beef, which was mostly comprised of rubbery fat. We also ordered the shrimp dumplings and did not enjoy them at all, and so we ended up throwing out almost the entire order of dumplings. I sampled the vegetable tofu bibimbap, and found it to be average. The second time I visited, we had a polite waitress and I ordered the spicy mushroom noodle dish, which turned out to be a bit better than the beef dish.

Service is still not the best but at least they’re open on Sundays now. The kimchi is a hit or miss– sometimes it tastes great, other times it taste so bland or just insanely garlicky. I go here on sundays when they open at 11 for brunch with my family. I do love the taste of their kalguksoo and their menu has packed on more variety– but I’m not going to eat anything other than, well, noodles. After all, we are at restaurant called noodle house. So even though service is far from impeccable, because I enjoy their kalguksoo, I can’t justify leaving my review at a one star. I don’t like that they have valet on weekdays from the moment doors open– no valet on sundays though!

Their food, especially their kimchi, is very good. I came here the other night(weekday) with my family and more than half of the tables were filled. We were seated at a table without hot burners for the shabu shabu since they were all filled. We ordered the kaminabe shabu shabu(meat) and the very friendly staff placed our orders in while we waited for a table to open up so that we can get our food right when we moved to a table with the hot burners. The shabu shabu was excellent. Great portions and delicious. Make sure you get the Ssam bab with it. It’s delicious with the shabu shabu meat. I would definitely go back to have it again. Also, their seafood ddukbokki is very good. The sauce has the perfect amount of spicy and sweet. The dduk is moist and chewy. This dish should cater to many tastebuds. Noodles are always on point and its a great dish to eat with their kimchi. This restaurant is always a great choice to eat good korean food.

I host a quarterly food tour, where about dozen people go off to a far-flung part of the metropolitan area to sample one particular cuisine. When we decided to come to Fort Lee to checkout the growing Koreatown, I faced a problem. Unlike some previous foods we tackled such as Ghanaian and Georgian, pretty much every we had along had some experience with Korean. The country now punches well above its size in how much the cuisine has spread. In the past year I’ve had Korean meals in Madagascar and Chile. So when designing where we would go, I specifically tried to aim for dishes that would bring people out of their bibimbap comfort zone. Our second stop of the day was Myung Dong Noodle House, where the primary goal was Korean-style cold noodles or neon myun. A speciality of Pyongyang, this isn’t standard fare for the winter day we visited, but it’s nice year-round. Considering the size of our party we were able to sample both versions on the menu, one with algae noodles and another more standard variation. Both came with strong flavors, crunchy vegetables contrasting with gochujang on top. We ate other noodle dishes as well, as this place is a Seoul-based mini chain focused on kalgukusu, or hand cut noodles. The offerings in soup were less popular than those without, although the meat-eaters in our party did love the pork when it appeared. I figured this would also be the right time to introduce some members of the group to ddukbokki, or Korean rice cakes and mandoo, Korean dumplings. The mandoo were fine, although not on the level of a place like Midtown’s Café Mandoo. The ddukbokki is pretty uncomplicated, which I appreciate. I understand we need to pay more than 1,000 won to get this in an American restaurant, but I’m not a fan of when restaurants try to make the dish fussier than need be to justify the inflated price. At less than a year old, this restaurant has clearly been designed with the increasingly affluent taste of the neighborhood in mind. While most of the food is unfussy, the atmosphere on both floors mean it could also double as a great Saturday night date.

We came here a little past 3pm, which was perfect since you can only get shabu shabu after 3pm, fyi! This place is also two stories(though there’s no seating downstairs), spacious and super clean! Onto the shabu shabu-it was absolutely delicious(pic attached) and filling! Seven hours later, I’m still too stuffed to eat anything else. There is a HUGE array of veggies, a good amount of meat, and we had their handmade green noodles(//udon) which were delicious as well! Oh, and they are pretty quick about refilling your red and white kimchi, haha. They also give you some rice on top of lettuce, as well as hot boricha. Yumm! Annnd you get 10% off your shabu shabu when you check-in on Unilocal! So it was about $ 33 a person in the end, including tax ‘n tip.

I feel like this place adds more knockout entrees every time I go back. The most recent entrée I’ve tried was the yookehjang kalguksoo(aka spicy beef soup w/green flour noodles). It is delicious. If you’re a fan of yookehjang and you like noodles, this dish is a no-brainer. Perfect remedy for the cold winter nights(or days). Their signature dishes are obviously their kalguksu(noodles with chicken broth) and bibim guksu(green noodles with spicy sauce) and you get free refills, which you will get since they’re so good. The bibim guksu is my go-to dish since it is so refreshing and delicious. Honestly, all their dishes here are solid. Their dumplings are amazing too. The two types of kimchee they offer as side dishes are great compliments to the entrees. Will be frequenting this place at least once or twice a week!

A great place to get Korean food. The meals are prepared well but also quickly, which is customary for Korean restaurants. The setup is nice and the restaurant is very clean. The food is very delicious. I always order mandoo(dumplings) as an appetizer. I would recommend the Bulgogi here if you’re looking for a meat dish. The kalgooksu is also very delicious if you’re in the mood for noodles, as it’s their specialty. All of the different types of bibimbab are delicious as well, so look carefully at the differences in ingredients and choose one that sounds most appealing to you. This place is usually packed, but the wait time is never long, as people don’t linger for too long.

This place is so good! My husband and I came here only because we passed by it and thought to try it out. It was a cold night so what better than going to a noodle house? First of all, the restaurant décor is spotless. It’s a really nice atmosphere with a friendly staff. Secondly, the food is amazing and the portions are huge! We started off with the steamed shrimp and veggie dumpling which was made fresh! Then I had their tofu soup(medium spicy) and my husband ordered the Donkatsu. The Donkatsu was HUGE and could easily be a portion for two… however, if you’re hungry, you can definitely finish the plate. My tofu soup was amazing! I had the seafood tofu soup with comes with a side of rice. It is a bit pricier than some of the other places I’ve been to that has tofu soup, but it was well worth the price Overall we were very happy we tried this place out! If you’re ever in the area, I would suggest to stop in and try it yourself. This place also offers shabu shabu after 3pm with a minimum of two orders.

Solid place for a noodle crave. The prices are reasonable compared to other Korean restaurants I’ve been to and the food is good. It was actually a rice dish that was the highlight of the meal when i recently visited with the family — the fried squid bibimbap on a hot stone was delicious! One of the best bibimbaps I’ve had. This place is authentic. Apparently they are a famous chain with branches in Seoul and all over the world. Everyone eating there was Korean except me. Nice atmosphere and ambiance. Their signature soup noodle dish with dumplings in chicken broth comes with free noodle refills as long as everyone at the table ordered a separate entrée. Good taste if a bit home-made’ish. It reminded me just a bit of my mom’s chicken noodle soup that she made me when I was a kid. The seafood noodle soup was not bad too. It came with 2 good sized shrimp, a clam, and 4 mussels. If I’m paying 14 bucks for a bowl of noodle soup I’m gonna count the amount of seafood I get! The seafood tasted fresh if not too flavorful. The green noodles it came with were delicious and the jalapeño in the broth gave it a nice kick. Too bad this dish didn’t offer the free noodle refill.

This restaurant has a lot of things I like, it’s clean, easy parking(there is a huge municipal parking behind the restaurant), food is really really good and service is attentive. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I think the price is a bit higher(esp for noodle items, I think it’s really pricy to charge $ 14+ for a bowl of noodle), overall this is still a very good restaurant. I like the steamed shrimp dumpling the most, the skin of dumpling is really thin but still have good chew, the meat wrapped inside is really fresh and tasty, I highly recommend to order this as appetizer. I also like the shabu shabu too, it’s a bit pricy($ 30) given the portion is not really enough for 2 people to share, but from the ingredient to the presentation of the food are all impeccable, they will also give you several dipping sauces and I encourage you to try all of them.

I thought this was definitely one of the better places that Koreans and non KOreans can try alike. This is a place where they sell flour-based noodles with hot broth(Kal gooksoo; gooksoo means noodle). I tried the seasood spicy noodle. Man, I should tell you, I never seen in recent years when I saw so many clams in that noodle soup. The broth was very rich, and the noodle was very well made and cooked. I also ordered the dumplings that were very rich and good. Interior was very clean, and the service was very adequate(based on other reviews maybe I caught a break that day). I would definitely recommend this place to koreans and non koreans alike. Especially for non koreans, this could be a very good place to give it a try aside from tofu bowls.

I think I’ve found my favorite Korean restaurant. Hands down, this place offers the best vegetarian bibimbap I’ve had so far. Other places skimp on the variety of vegetables, but not here. Thin slices of tofu, cabbage, carrot, onion, zucchini, bean sprouts, pepper, lettuce, lots of mushroom and a sprinkle of seaweed on top. Tasty as heck. $ 13 for a good size, I had leftovers to take home. Very swanky place. It stands out from all the other shops on the street so it’s been catching my eye for a while. It’s sleekly modern atmosphere makes it the best looking restaurant I’ve been to in Fort Lee. The service was excellent. Our waiter was fluent in English and very helpful. Busboys and other servers were very friendly as well. Our waters and teas were filled promptly. Even if this place was a hole in the wall with bad service, I would still return just for the bibimbap. Thankfully it’s a nice place all around, and definitely worth visiting.
