Fort Madison’sonly local newspaper published in Fort Madison, Covers local news and national news off the AP. Not very extensive reporting even on local issues — sticks with the very basics: who, what, and where; rarely delves into ‘why’.
They have a website (
) with an online Guestbook that is more of an online Opinion board where anonymous postser can voice their opinions. Actually, many of the topics discussed are far more entertaining than artticles published by the paper’s reporters.
The paper costs 50cents — way over priced for what you get when compared to nearby community papers (Burlington Hawkeye). But since there is no other local competition, they can charge what they can get away with.
