We have eaten here four times since the new owner opened. The filet was perfect and the waitress was exceptional. We knew her from her working at the old Palms. The other times we have had different entrees, but the steak reigns supreme. So far we have had mixed feelings, but definitely think it is worth it to keep trying. Prices were in the higher side, but will definitely try again!

They just re-opened under new management !! So happy to have it open again ! Fort Madison is really lucky to have such a talented chef/owner ! Everything we had was delicious ! I had the chicken fettuccine and the wontons as an appetizer, and it was served with this wonderful jalapeño jelly!!! My sister had the mahi-mahi and smoked wings for an app and it was amazing !!! They also have a salad bar with, potatoe salad, corn salad, pasta salad etc We will definately be going again really soon !!

Had the prime rib special, tender, juicy and great flavor. Came with salad bar and baked potato. $ 15.99. The real deal, no chain restaurant stuff here. I’ll be back. Nate the bartender was terrific!

2 for 2. This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant and once again the waitress was unfriendly, the place was short staffed, and it took them forever to bring out our food and forgot to bring out the sides which took an extra 10 mind, bad service! I DONOTRECOMMENDTHISRESTAURANT! SAVEYOURMONEYGOSOMEWHEREELSE. 1STARRATING.

Great salad bar. Nice restaurant that has been around forever. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Thursday night dinner — special was prime rib or buffet. DH opted for buffet because the prime rib was only 9oz for $ 13. Food was horribly bland and overcooked. Fish and chicken were mushy; he said the chicken tasted like it was leftover from the grocery store deli down the street. Salad bar was meh — take it or leave it, nothing spectacular. I ordered the crab-stuffed shrimp and it was tasteless and overcooked. The crab tasted pasty and left a weird aftertaste. The best part of my meal was the rice, and it was just plain basmati rice. Sad. Ordered kids meals for the kids — very few french fries and their cheeseburger/chicken nuggets were soggy and tasteless. Took forever to get drinks/appetizers. Stay away from the appetizer sampler — the only taste is that of grease. Service was slow and completely unmotivated. The only reason we tipped was because my youngest threw shredded cheese all over the floor and the waiters had to bus their own tables. Stay away.

I absolutely can NOT understand the rave reviews of the food in this place. The staff, yes, but not the food. This place looks like the relic from decades past, and it is. The food is stuck in the past as well. I’ve been brought here by my SO’s family at least twice and it’s always because the Palm’s can handle a larger group. Each time I’ve been there the buffet has been the main attraction. The salad bar consists of iceberg lettuce and watery veggies. The celery and baby carrots are more finger-food-sized than chopped for a salad and they’re floating in water. I suppose the cold water keeps the celery pretty crispy, but it doesn’t do the carrots any favors. The salad bar also features a very sweet macaroni salad, and cauliflower and pea salad that’s pretty yummy, chocolate & vanilla pudding, and canned beats. It’s really not the worst salad bar I’ve every seen, but there’s no way it’s rises above mediocre. I can’t comment on much else on the buffet because I’m leery of eating a lot of buffet items. The mashed potatoes are completely acceptable; macaroni and cheese is bland with overcooked pasta; there’s always been canned corn on offer, which is exactly as you’d expect; and any other warm veggies(think green beans &/or broccoli) are a mushy mess. There is absolutely nothing special to be had here. At the going rate of about $ 17, it’s a joke. They also bring cinnamon rolls to the table where another restaurant might just bring bread. Cinnamon rolls with butter! I’m not a fan, but I think they use the same yeasty dough to make the rolls that land near the salad bar and those are tasty. However, on my latest trip to the Palms, those rolls were in very short supply.

We went here on a Saturday night for a friend’s birthday. The place seemed pretty empty, but it was 7:00 so I assumed the dinner rush was over. They took us to our table immediately(had a reservation for 15) and asked for our drink orders. The service was great! My only complaint was how long it took to get our food. Like I said, the place was pretty empty. The waitress kept coming back and apologizing for the wait and telling us the food would be up soon. Once our food arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The menu is pretty pricey so I just ordered a bleu cheese burger. It was delicious! Everyone was happy with their food. The steaks were highly recommended by others. I would come back here since the food and service were so good. Maybe it was just a slow night in the kitchen.
