The Laurels

My current apartment was taken over by new management and even though I’d been there 5 years and was never late I was forced to leave because of my Lab Chace (my gentle giant). They had new weight restrictions and no longer accepted dogs over 50lbs. I didn’t know where to go and I was scared at the thought of packing up and moving, then I found The Laurels. The staff was so awesome and friendly and made me feel welcome, plus they said I could bring Chace! I prefer to not have neighbors above me, but I also don’t want to walk up three flights of stairs with my dog because he is older. This place has the best of both worlds. The townhomes start on the second floor, so you only have a couple short flights of steps to get to your door but once you’re inside your townhome is two stories, so no upstairs neighbors! It has a cozy feel to it which I like, and I like that even though you only have one full bathroom, there is a half bath inside my master, so I still have a place of my own to get ready. I saw they used to be under different management but it looks like since this new company has taken over that the changes are awesome. I have recommended this apartment to friends. Price wise they are competitive with other apartments I looked at, and I checked out quite a few!

The pool is really nice and there is plenty of parking.

There’s no doubt that Laurels houses a new friendly staff. But a friendly staff does not make up for its pricing, units, tenants, FAKE REVIEWS, parking and most importantly its location. Also a little note about their craigslist posts.
Craigslist Post — Beware they use pictures of Lexington at the forum to drag you in. Some of the pictures they use are not what the units at Laurels looks like. Now it is the same management so I can see why they share pictures. But that’s misleading people.
Pricing — From $ 990-​$ ¹²⁰⁰⁄₁₃₀₀ for units that have JUST been upgraded. BUT these units are small especially the townhome floorplan. The master bedroom can barely fit a queen bed. So if you have a complete bedroom set don’t expect for it to fit. Also inquire about which floorplan comes with upgrades, not all units are white with stainless steel like they continuously advertise.
Tenants — Want to know what type of people live here? Sure you can look them up on facebook or you can do what I did and typed in Laurels at the edison on instagram and selected places. One of the tenants has pictures of marijuana on their instagram. I sure wouldn’t enjoy a neighbor that wreak of marijuana. This complex has a combination of people you have those that work but then you have those that are just downright gross and ghetto. You’ll find their kids hanging around the pool when the leasing office isn’t open. There’s a policy of no pitbulls but you’ll see them being walked around anyways.
Location — This complex is located in one of the worse areas in Fort Myers. From shootings, drugs to robbery its insane here. This place is not even gated and super accessible for people coming right off the street. None the less located right behind a mall that no one goes to anymore because of how bad its gotten. You have MLK blvd just miles down the road, there’s even a strip club right around the corner from here.
Parking — This complex is literally a circle. Think of a space the size of a corner on a football field. Very small. Parking lot can get very full. It literally looks like it has space for one car for each apartment.
Fake Reviews — This complex compensates those who leave a good review. You can read more about this on
, they offer to give gift cards to starbucks, chipotle and more if you leave a good review so don’t trust them.

I just moved to this new apartment about three weeks ago and I can’t complain so far. First, I like the area where it’s located due to the fact that everything that I want are around me or close by (e.g. restaurants, mall, shopping center, and many more). The apartment itself looks nice and the people who I’ve met there so far are nice. This place has everything inside, not bad at all. Been living here since July and from the very 1^st day the staff has been great. All the new upgrades look fantastic and the are always on top of any and all issues that may occur. #A107
