I got the Crawfish Po Boy and it was small and only slightly warm. I got the combo and was told over the phone it was 8.99 for the combo but when I got there it was 10.60, Not filling and not enough food! Then they forgot my drink. Won’t be back.

I ordered the all you can eat shrimp which was like another reviewer wrote«farm raised» small to medium sized shrimp. When the waitress brought my second batch there were six shrimp and I gave up asking for more b/c I found it a little inconvenient asking for more shrimp that often. At a previous visit to the one in Destin I ordered a shrimp basket that had more shrimp than I got for the AYCE rate in Ft. Walton. When I asked for a to go box for my husband and my son’s food she made a remark about me putting my shrimp in the to go box, which is understandable, but I had not really taken advantage of eating all I could, and again it was only like four shrimp after a nibbled a couple down. I just found her remarks to be unnecessary with a touch of snarkiness. The food is not the best I’ve ever had but it is decent. The portions are too small and I expect shrimp slaw to contain shrimp. The wait staff is the worst of the whole experience. The mood in the place is always dreary and the employees are always disconnected and detached. My best description would be «pricey fast food». The shrimp po-boys are delish though!

Service was fast on a slow Sunday. Overall a very average sit down dining fast food type experience. Tried the All-u-Can Eat Shrimp Sunday Special with fries and shrimp slaw. Waitress assured me the shrimp are all breaded on site so I tried the fried shrimp first. The shrimp are small commercial farm raised shrimp but larger than popcorn shrimp. Seasoning on the shrimp is alright and the cocktail sauce really helps out the flavor. Next up were the grilled shrimp. These were cooked well but look sautéed in a pan not cooked on a grill and the seasoning was so salty that they were hard to eat more than one or two. The fries are Ok, cooked well but they taste like they were cooked in old oil unfortunately. The shrimp slaw is just your typical chopped up coleslaw you would get from any fast food joint with a couple small shrimp thrown in, very average. Next up are the blackened shrimp which I was assured would not be as salty as the grilled shrimp. These shrimp appear to be cooked like the grilled shrimp. The seasoning was done lightly to reduce the saltiness so the blackened seasoning flavor did not really come through. Oh a medium shrimp snuck in there, alright. Probably more like a 2−½ star place for the food and a 3 – 4 on service.

We ended up at Shrimp Basket after trying to go to Rick’s Crab Trap and finding out they ran out of oysters. There were enough OK reviews that we thought it might be worth a try. Well, we were wrong. When we arrived, we were greeted and sat promptly by the hostess, but from there, it was just disappointment after disappointment. First of all, we waited 10 – 15 minutes after sitting down without having been greeted by our server and having drink orders taken. My wife got fed up and had to go speak with someone nearby cleaning up tables to find out who our server was. Our server, when we finally met him, was pleasant, but being a nice person isn’t the only thing required to be a good waiter; we quickly found out that he was kind of scatterbrained. We asked for two waters; my wife tried to order oysters, and was told that they were out of all oysters except for fried(so much for finding oysters anywhere!), so she ended up ordering the seafood platter; I ordered coconut shrimp with cheese grits. It took probably another ten minutes to get our water, and then my wife’s glass of water had lipstick remnants on it. We caught our server a few minutes later, and he took the glass to replace it. After a couple rounds of him serving other tables and walking by us(probably another 5 – 10 minutes) I had to remind him that my wife still hadn’t gotten her new glass of water. When he came back with the water, I then was told that they ran out of grits; I ordered baked beans in place of that. Not long after, we overheard from a table nearby where he had come out with their food and gave one lady red beans and rice in place of grits she had ordered since they were out, except this was the first time he mentioned it – when bringing out the food! She never had a chance to request a substitute, and she didn’t want the red beans and rice. We overheard them complaining of the service while we continued to wait for our food. Our food arrived about 35 – 40 minutes after we ordered, and my side item, the baked beans, were missing. Somehow we also ended up with french fries that we didn’t order(and it didn’t go on the check thankfully). He did bring baked beans right away, but forgot the cocktail sauce my wife requested on 2 more subsequent runs around all his tables. The food was mediocre at best. The shrimp were overdone(the breading was far too crispy and dark), and my wife also found that much of the food in her seafood platter was also overcooked in the same manner. To their credit, it wasn’t nearly as greasy as the fried food at some other seafood restaurants, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. The marmalade included with the coconut shrimp was OK, although a little too sweet. I would not visit again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

No one noticed us as we waited at the door while the sign said«please wait to be seated». I had to walk up to the server for them to notice us. Once we sat down no one ever came to ask us if we wanted any drinks so we left. We will never come back.

So I am here for two weeks and being dinning at every local place I would like to eat at. This place has mixed reciews but my little niece and I decided to try it out. I had the seafood gumbo with darkened catfish and my niece wanted the grilled cheese basket. She loved her grilled cheese and so did I after taking a bite. Probably the best most chessy, grilled cheese ever. Then gumbo was disappointing. It was tool thick but had the right amount of seafood. My entrée was okay but the fish was not seasoned compared to the shrimp. Anyhow, I will recommed it to anyone. Our waitress was polite and puntual but we still had to ask for to fill up our cup.

Just the average Shrimp Basket– it’s always good. We had popcorn shrimp, fried shrimp, and buffalo shrimp. I recommend this place. Very tasty.

We love the shrimp basket! They have s new server, Alyssa, who was amazing! She was on top of her game suggesting dishes and refilling our drinks. Our food came out hot and fresh, and delicious of course! And they are now doing 10% mil discount.

We entered a half seated restaurant to a «Please wait to be seated.» sign placed in the doorway. We were the only ones in line.(If you call the doorway a designated line.) I made eye contact with four employees who were walking around seemingly aimlessly. Once eye contact was made, each of them seemed to remember what they were doing and scuttled off. 15 minutes later, we left. We will not be returning to this location.

Looking for something local, reasonable and not a tourist trap? This is the place. Excellent meal, fresh prepared, generous quantity, friendly staff and good service. Not a bunch of fried-food-only options, like so many other places in town. Will visit again next time I’m in town, for sure.

Tried this location across from Mall on Mary Esther after my cousins ate at a different location earlier in Destin, FL on main drag. I loved the red beans with the Conecuh Sausage. The jambalaya bites were good and my shrimp poboy was pretty good. The service was good and restaurant was clean.

Time and Date of visit: Sunday, 5÷18÷2014 Party Size: 2 Service: We arrived around early lunch, and promptly seated at a table as most booths were taken. Ambiance: A mixup of Applebee’s decorations with a nautical theme. 80’s musics. Very laid back vibe. Various advertising of their catering and other kinds of food specials, granted not seafood related. Food: Gumbo, cup size: Needed a little bit of salt, but pretty decent for this kind of place. Oyster Po-Boy: Fried oysters leave much to having any flavor, some what greasy. Portion size is decent in total with good amount of oysters. Blackened catfish and shrimp combo platter. With new potatoes. We were just semi hungry, so this with the gumbo and po-boy was a little filling. The blackened seasoning was balance, enough to temp the tongue for more but not to drown the palate with water. Portions are solid for the price. Total Bill with Tip & Tax: $ 42.73 Summary: Cheap eats but don’t go expecting seafood to knock your socks off. But way better then a «seafood» restaurant with a drive through. The menu should shorten down a bit and focus more on what it can specialize in.

Not good food. The grilled shrimp was so salty that I had to wipe off some of the seasoning and the potato salad tasted really strange. It was a good atmosphere but I would not plan on coming back.

As you can see from my profile, I am an active acolyte of the Church of Deep Fried Anything. I just finished up my meal of fried crab claws and must be suffering from some sort of sensory overload cause the only word I can think to describe it is «yum!» The claws had plenty of meat and the portion was excellent. As far as sides go, if they served potato salad in heaven it would probably taste like this. Our server, Jasmine, was prompt, courteous, and all around great. I’ve been coming here for years and with few exceptions they fulfill that little slice of deep fried life I love so much.

Food really wasn’t that great. The staff was very friendly and nice. Portions were fine. Probably won’t go back since there are so many other places that are much better food wise.

Food was good. I actually really enjoyed their catfish poorboy and their hush puppies. Great selection of fried and blackened fish and chicken. The food was great; however their service was not. We got out food within 30 minutes but it took over 45 to get a bill and our change and we asked several times.

Great service from Jasmine and from what I observed, all the waitresses were courteous. Indicative of a well managed establishment. The food portion was more than enough, and it was delicious!

I ordered the the Shrimp Po-Boy I was good I thought the tarter sauce I requested was home made which I enjoyed. My lil girl had the children’s shrimp basket she enjoyed the fries but didn’t care for the shrimp and she is a big shrimp eater. My wife ordered the Clam basket I thought the had to much breading and the slaw wasn’t up to par overall to pricey atmosphere was poor

The Shrimp Basket is a low-key, barely noticeable from the street type of establishment that will wow your socks off. We got two plates to-go: The fried catfish and fries platter, and the grilled shrimp and new potatoes platter. The catfish was a bit dry, not bad, but nothing to write home about. The shrimp was phenomenal — even my non-seafood loving husband was wow’d. Perfect amount of seasoning on each succulent prawn. Delicious. The new potatoes needed salt but were definitely tasty and then there’s the ‘shrimp slaw’. I thought for sure they had just named it after the restaurant itself and that we were about to experience the same ol’ bottom of the bucket slaw that you’d get at any other restaurant on the side of the road — but boy were we wrong! I am NOT a slaw eater, and I couldn’t stop eating it! There were little tiny shrimp throughout the entire slaw! Fantastic! Not only will we be coming back to Fort Walton Beach, but we will be looking forward to stopping by the Shrimp Basket!
