Wat Mongkolratanaram-the Buddhist Temple of Florida

This place is awesome! Great food options for affordable price and it’s money well spent to support the Temple. There is also some vendors selling vegetables — mainly veggies used in Asian cooking that you can’t find at your grocery store.
It’s popular apparently… lots of people but not so many that you had to wait in line long.

This place is a Buddhist temple with an open market on Sundays, so they have a bunch of independent booths serving different foods. Instead of paying with cash, you buy tokens, and pay with the tokens. It all goes down in the yard behind the church. There’s also a market where locals can sell homemade foods, produce and other goods.
I’ve never been a big fan of Thai food. It’s like a weird, vaguely tropical influenced version of Chinese food. The food was okay. I good some spicy noodle soup and some deep fried bananas or something as an appetizer. Don’t really like how the oil puddles on top of the soup and it was too spicy for my taste.

Went here with the family this past Sunday. The food was great! Coconut pancakes, pad thai, pork skewers. I cant wait to go back and try the soup. The market was interesting too. So many different vegetables that I have never seen. Everyone is really nice. If you are anywhere near this place on Sunday or are looking for something to do… try this place. Great treasure!

I am so happy that a friend invited me to the Thai market and lunch that takes place at this temple on Sundays. The atmosphere was festive and the food was prepared by friendly Thai cooks.
The system is a little wacky the first time you experience it but it makes sense after one visit. When you first arrive, be sure to proceed directly to the little wooden archway and counter. The woman there will be happy to sell you some tokens to be used to purchase food. The tokens come in 1 dollar increments (red) and five dollar increments (yellow). Once you have your tokens, you can proceed to the food tables and exchange your tokens for delicious foods. Some good choices were the curry (6 tokens), chicken (4 tokens), papaya salad (1 token), and pad thai (8 tokens). I was very pleased with all of the food I purchased and it was so plentiful, I had leftovers for two days.
Once you pick up some food, be sure to enjoy the picnic tables with friends and strangers alike as everyone seemed to be having a great time eating and hanging out. The picnic area is covered by trees so it is cooler than expected and the tables were clean and properly spaced. I would recommend eating there and not rushing away to eat at home.
Overall, the market was great. The workers are friendly and make great food. The temple gardens are peaceful and inviting. I would beware where you park as space is at a premium during busy hours (after 11:30 am). I would drop everything you are doing this Sunday and come here for lunch.

So fortunate to have this wonderful Buddhist Temple so close to Navarre where my son lives. Every Sunday from 10:00 am to 2 pm, they have a farmer’s market with fresh vegetables, Thai herbs and other food items.
Members of the community have small food kiosks with an assortment of delicious food at a very good price. The papaya salad, soup, fried chicken, fried bananas/​potatoes and sticky rice were yummy, yummy, yummy! The tea was very refreshing.
They have plenty of picnic tables under shade trees, a little playground for the kids and of course the temple with different buddhas for each day of the week to pray and make offerings.
My granddaughter loves to pray to Buddha and she got upset when we had to go since she didn’t want to leave Buddha (she will be three next month)!

Awesome Thai market with few freshly cooked foods. Had pad Thai and spring rolls. Would come back here if I was from here.

I had heard good things about this Buddhist Temple and they were all true. After parking and walking to the back garden, I told my husband «it smells like heaven!» Picnic tables under shady trees, children laughing and playing, friendly people and wonderful food. Go.

Every Sunday from 10;00 am to 2:00 pm, the Fort Walton Beach community are blessed by the kindness of the members of Wat Mongkoliratanaram Buddhist Temple, as they have a charitable market.
Community members and members of the Temple are invited to purchase, Thai herbs, vegetables and food products. Hands down you cannot get better Thai street food, then at this wonderful little Temple. The prices are very affordable and those proceeds go to the Wat Mongkoliratanaram Buddhist Temple.
I went with an empty stomach and huge eye’s, so everything looked good, and it was. I started out with the pork, chicken meatballs soup and noodles. Excellent, excellent, excellent, cannot describe it enough. As I was handed my base soup, of pork, vegetable and rice noodles, I had the option to dress it up with the ubiquitous Thai peanut, chili’s, sugar, and siracha, just for a little more heat! And, dress it up I did, I made my own little inferno, to warm me up on this cold day. That soup was an affordable $ 6.00. From there my appetite was off and running, I then went to the Papaya Salad, probably the real national dish of Thailand, With that I got four pieces of Thai fried spicy chicken and sticky rice, at a price of $ 8.00, wow, well worth it, and was excellent to, my mouth was dancing the rhumba! So off I went for Thai fried plantains. Plantains are like bananas but there no good raw and must be cooked.
What an excellent venue, I left the Temple buying a mint plant, Thai chills, and Thai basil.

Great family experience. Great date idea. Great food. Great people. It’s just so fun. The vendors on the grass all sell for cash they have plants, produce, soups, sausages, pastries and all kinds of knick knacks. The booths under the patio all take tokens. Tokens are bought in a booth in the middle. It’s cool too because everything has toke prices easily visible. Unused token are happily refunded for even value. The food under the patio is killer! Little coconut popover puffs that are savory and melt in your mouth. Hot spicy phở style noodle soup with mystery meats that taste too good to care. All the fun condiments for the soups and noodles are right there for you to help yourself. Egg rolls, fried chicken, fried rice, pad thai, spicy sausages and tons of other yummyness are available very Sunday. If you enjoy Florida summers you can sit one the picnic benches in the shade. The have a huge fan but you will find yourself glowing after a hot meal. I like it. It’s fun when they have dancers performing and live music but that’s only a few celebrations a year. Also it is a place of worship and sometime they are having service in the temple so be respectful. Parking is crowded sometime so be patient and curious and you will really have a good time!
