Did this business changed name? Ok, I’m pretty sure I have been in this store since I went to the restaurant next to it. They are in the same strip mall. What do you want me to say??? All Filipino grocery stores are created the same everywhere you go in Maryland. It’s not the main Filipino grocery in the northeast like the Phil-Am in Jersey. For a change, how about making and/or sale distribute a Ube Hilaya? This will make you a very special store because purple ube is very special!

I’ve been coming to this oriental store since I was a child. The people that have owned the store since then until now are friends of my family, so the reception upon entering is always warm. They have a table in the front that you can’t miss upon entering the store, displaying different himagas(dessert) for purchase. I had to give their store four stars only because in contrast, I’ve noticed other oriental stores in the area starting to have more variety, giving consumers more brand options. But other than that, this is the best place to buy Philippine desserts. I also like getting the canned laing(taro leaves stewed with chili peppers in coconut milk) for when I don’t feel like cooking.

I love browsing through here esp after eating at Kabayan. The owner is friendly, aisles are roomy, store is tidy, and the shelves are stocked with all the basic pinoy necessities. Prices are reasonable too.

Had everything I would have ever wanted from a Filipino store except for the Magnolia Buko Ice Cream! Darnit! Stopped by this store after eating at Kabayan in hopes of scoring some Buko Ice Cream, but there was none left in the freezer. I was only left with the option of maiz-queso or ube. Settled for the maiz queso(yes, that translates to corn and cheese ice cream) and it was decent. Still jonesin’ for some Buko or Mango Magnolia ice cream, but this will suffice. If I’m in the area, I would definately make this my one stop shop for all Filipino goods… as long as they continually restock their ice cream ;)

I buy my rice here cause its cheaper than other pinoy stores in Ft. Washington. For some odd reason there are always random kuyas and manongs hanging outside smoking. I swear, there’s at least 4 – 6 each time. Doing nothing. lol. Its weird, but it does deter me from coming back too often. Staff is friendly and they have tons of ube ice cream in stock.

A well-stocked Filipino convenience store located in the same shopping center as Kabayan Restaraunt. C&C on Livingston Road has a larger inventory but Salinas has any of the common items you might need. I would imagine this place would be ideal for those living in the neighborhood or visiting the restaurant.(Photos Uploaded)
