Chrome Plated Diner, the BOMB. Great breakfast, great service, and good prices. Yes, I am a regular and have been so for 10 plus years. From the time it was Sharon’s at Canterbury to present, fast service too…

The Chrome Plated Diner is a small diner located near the IPFW campus. It’s retro decorated in a «Happy Days» reminiscent manner. The décor added to the charm of the small diner with its red, black, and chrome accessories. The staff was efficient and friendly. My visit found the diner full of «regulars» who seemed familiar with each other. They all seemed to know and appreciate the very competent waitress. The food: I choose the Bagel Sandwich with a side of hash browns. The hash browns were crisp and soft in all the correct places and my bagel sandwich was tasty but my bagel could have been toasted a touch more. I wasn’t over or underwhelmed. It was decent food at a decent price. I’d come back for breakfast. It wouldn’t be my first choice, but it would be on a list of places I’d go if I were in the area.

We recommend the fish on Friday. They have all you can eat or you can get the regular portions for a little less. It’s plenty. Great flavor, too. Staff is always a friendly bunch and you can tell they get a lot of regulars coming back.

Very good breakfast for a VERY reasonable price. Friendly staff. Must go back and try their lunch menu items. The pies on display near the front look fantastic!

First time here. First impressions: very clean, pretty friendly people. Coffee was… Coffee. I had a skillet. At first I though the portion size was a little on the small end. But then I realized I didn’t have a huge plate of food that I felt like I had to eat and then be in a food coma the rest of the day. Don’t get me wrong, I was comfortably full when it was all said and done, and without the food coma. Also, it was delicious. She had eggs Benedict with hollandaise and it was delicious. This place will definitely be in our rotation of breakfast joints in the future.

Great little breakfast stop. My family and I were passing through Fort Wayne and wanted something other than a normal chain breakfast. The Chrome provided just that. Although located in a strip mall the interior was definitely different. Service was exceptional and the food was definitely above average but certainly not gourmet. Not something to make a trip for obviously but if you’re in the area and want a diner style breakfast that’s definitely better than a Waffle House, give it a try.

This hole in the wall diner is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is nice, the service was friendly and fast and it has a family run feel to it. My mom ordered a 3 egg omelette with bacon and cheddar cheese. There was a ton of bacon inside and the omelette was huge! I ordered a build your own breakfast skillet which was very tasty. It was supposed to have sausage gravy but I asked for the sausage gravy in the side. It was very good(and I’m not a gravy person) and I ended up adding some on top of my skillet. The food arrive very quick and piping hot. They pushed their pumpkin pie shake(tis the season) but he didn’t push too hard. There seem to be a lot of regulars there. I thought it was great and will definitely go back next time I’m visiting Fort Wayne. The Unilocal *free pie offer is expired. The waiter said they have been trying to contact Unilocal again and again to have it removed but to no avail.

The biscuits and gravy«look» amazing. The biscuits are clearly homemade. Both have good flavor. Unfortunately, like everything here, they came out cold. The bacon is made ahead if time and reheated. The coffee is typical«old people coffee». Oh, and there are flies everywhere. Our server was nice. The place is decorated in 50’s style, kind of. If they focus a bit more on quality, this could be a decent breakfast place. However, I will not be returning to this place.

Breakfast almost as good as it gets. Ham off the bone and thick sliced bacon would make everything perfect. Willing to pay the extra dollar or so. Staff is great. Pancakes could be a little fluffier.

Food was bland; atmosphere tried, but fell short. Hard to re-create diner feel in a strip mall.

A group of co-workers and I stopped by for lunch. We had been wanting to try it for a while and finally made it in and we will definitely be back. The service was quick, the food was great and the décor is pretty cool. The menu is great. I recommend the Patty Melt(which comes with fries). There was a decent lunch crowd, so I think the diner is starting to find a following. There is a lot of tradition behind the diner(The owners are family of Willie’s and Sharon’s Diner owners). I do think that they don’t need to rely on their history to bring people in, just keep serving good food, fast and hot!!! We’ll be back soon!

Located in a strip mall near the campus of IPFW, the outside of Chrome Plated Diner looks unassuming. However, inside the doors you see all red, black, gray, and silver. They have the 50’s and 60’s diner-style counter and chairs, with records and old product logos on the walls. No neon lights or a jukebox, but hey, there is still plenty of nostalgia here. I am positive they were playing a Little Richard song when I walked into the restaurant, and heard some great 50’s and 60’s tunes throughout our breakfast. Chrome Plated Diner is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Their menu selections are cheap and plentiful. On the breakfast side, they offer omelets, skillets, a wonderful eggs benedict with sausage gravy(they also offer it with Hollandaise, but I can’t resist many things with gravy), and your typical pancakes/waffle selection. I had their hash browns with benedict, and they were tasty and a little crisp(which is how they should be, in my little world). For lunch, they offer hamburgers, sandwiches, and the like, but I didn’t try any of those. Prices are very reasonable here. For two breakfasts with coffee, we spent less than $ 15 and definitely left here full. Their lunch prices appeared to be around the same price. Service was friendly and attentive. They also have some information on the family who owns this place, and the two other diners they own in town as well. It’s always nice to know that I am supporting a local business owner. For great prices, good food, and a piece of nostalgia in the Fort, I would definitely recommend this place.
