Huge disappointment. Empanadas were not fresh, tasted as if they came from a frozen package. Muscles and scallops were rubbery. Morgan’s service was simply atrocious. After not being able to remember anything on the menu, she kept trying to upsell us on peach margaritas and guacamole. $ 185 for four people for very subpar Mexican food.

Let’s just start off with I have been patiently waiting(in agony) to try this place out! Tapas and Tequila? Mexican style… yes please. A few girlfriends and I spent a lovely meal here Saturday night. I made reservations through their website(score!) and was texted a reminder. Our table was ready when we arrived. Salud was booming. Lots of people. The atmosphere in the bar area was great. It seems like majority of the restaurant is bar and there is a smaller family dining area. We each ordered a different margarita– huge selection! I had the ancho chile margarita. Reasonably prices @ $ 8 and it was awesome… had just the kick of spicy-ness that I wanted. We started off with the salsa flight: pineapple habanero, mild red, tomatilla, and very spicy salsa of the day. Tons of chips and decent amount of salsa for 4 people. Then onto my new favorite snack, Salchipapas… oh my goodness. Peruvian spin on poutine. Fries topped with ground pork sausage and a tomatillo gravy. It also had green onions, some white cheese, and cilantro. SIMPLYAMAZING. I have been craving them since I left. A few friends each got their own quesadilla. They both raved it was delicious and a big portion for $ 7. I then enjoyed the empanadas. A perfect portion size for 2 – 3 people or enough for one person as a meal. Crispy on the outside and doughy middle. Delicious. It was served with salsa verde and salsa de chile arbol– a mix of mild and hot flavors! Décor had a hispanic feel– tiles and tan colors filled the bar area. Bar area was nice– lots of tables. It looks like they have an outside space as well! Always a plus in my book. Single stall bathroom caused a line on the Saturday night we were there… so don’t drink too many margaritas! Service was great – slow at times and wish our server was a little bit more knowledgeable with it being our first time. Super friendly all around. I cannot wait to go back and try the shrimp ceviche and table side guac! Highly recommend for a more«fancy» Hispanic food experience.

I came here last night with my mom because I had heard good things. People raved about the guac and the fish tacos. The atmosphere is nice, definitely not your typical neon lights and cactus wallpaper like Cebollas or Banditos. If you are looking for a more upscale Mexican restaurant, Salud is a great place for that. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my mom ordered the quesadillas. The portions are small and higher priced but I expected that for a tapas restaurant with more sophiscated flavors. It took a while for our meals to come out and since we were hungry we asked for some chips. The waitress brought out a basket of chips with no salsa. By the time our meal came, the shrimp tacos were way overcooked. It was like eating a rubber tire. Worst tacos i have had in a while. My moms veggie quesadilla was bland but she said that in her previous times in coming here, it was better. I chose not to eat the gross tacos, so we asked for some salsa for the basket of chips. The salsa flight(which they did not comp for the gross tacos) was delicious. They do have some kick, but there was a regular salsa, tomatillo, pineapple haberno and one more yellow salsa I can’t remember. Salsa flight is $ 5 and there are no free chips and salsa like most Mexican places here in town. As far as service, our waitress was nice but tended to us poorly. The place wasn’t even busy! She did not ask us how our meals were and refilled our water once. After we complained about the tacos, she said she would talk to her manager. Her manager never came out to apologize and the waitress just stated that her manager said that is how the tacos are made. She did ask if we wanted anything else to replace my meal. I would probably give this place a one star but I gave it an extra star for the unique concept of the restaurant that we do not have in Fort wayne and the more developed flavors. But I would say poor service, bad shrimp tacos, and for me, not worth the money. I would definitely say I am a foodie and would easily spend more money at a restaurant that had good food. Maybe they just missed the mark that night. If you haven’t been, its still worth trying and making your own call.

Absolutely had a great experience. Started with the flight of salsa. The house red salsa was my favorite the wife preferred the jalapeño and tomatillo salsa. I had a shot of the pineapple infused tequila. It is outstanding. That stuff could be dangerous. You could do a brunch of those shots before you knew what hit you. The wife ordered the Pomegranate Margarita, she liked it so much that she ordered another one. I had a draft beer. They were having a little trouble with the Samuel Adams Oktoberfest Keg but finally figured it out. I ended up having four draft beers. We ordered the Chicharron Crusted Calamari. We enjoyed it immensely. The Calamari was not over cooked. I enjoyed the smoked paprika aioli the wife liked the Valentine Hot Sauce. Next we had the Spanish Scallops. These were the best scallops I have had in Fort Wayne in a long time. I don’t know if they were fresh or frozen they tasted fresh, sweet and buttery. As others have said that corn hash the scallops are served on is great. They were cooked perfectly not rubbery at all. We will definitely be going back I would dare to say we will become regulars. We had 4 beers 2 margaritas 1 shot 2 appetizers and 1 tapas plate it was plenty food for us. Others have complained about the price I think it is fair our bill was $ 74. Our server was very efficient and friendly I just threw a hundred dollar bill on the table and I would do it again.

Ok, I don’t know what some of the reviewers have been smoking – Salud is amazing, and it’s probably way too good for Fort Wayne. This is not Banditos or Don Chavez – this is Tapas. The food is absolutely outstanding, and good food costs real money. I have been here many times, and have never had an issue. It is actual cuisine, as opposed to same nasty Tex mex nightmare. The prices are in line with what real restaurants charge. I can’t imagine the sticker shock some of you would have in Chicago, LA or New York.

I was taken to Salud for an early birthday treat while visiting Fort Wayne. We had read of Salud’s 5-star review in the Journal Gazette and the menu sounded creative and different(for Fort Wayne). We arrived early(4:30pm-ish) on a Saturday and were seated right away. My dining mate ordered the signature tequila infused with pineapple(specially made for Salud) and I ordered the ancho chile margarita. The margarita was tart and refreshing, but I could not really taste the chile’s spice(like in prior spicy margaritas I’ve sampled). The cocktail and tequila list was unique, and we wished we had the liquor tolerance to try more… Salud, may I suggest a margarita flight? We ordered the following: — Salsa flight; our favorites were the slightly sweet pineapple-habanero and the creamy avocado-jalapeño(salsa of the day). The salsas were also good add-on options for our latter courses. Locals may balk at paying for salsa and chips, but should get over themselves. — Perfectly seared Scallops over a fantastic chorizo and corn hash; seriously, the corn hash was the most surprisingly delicious part of the meal, we could eat it in buckets. — The lauded Hangar Steak w. chimchurri sauce & sweet potato fries; the medium-rare steak was well-seasoned, but the chimchurri’s flavor was not pronounced enough for my taste. The sweet potato fries tasted wonderful dipped in our leftover pineapple-habanero salsa, but eat them up before they get cold. Our waitress was friendly, but not overbearing… with a touch of charming goofiness. Salud shares the location with its sister restaurant Salsa Grille. If you are driving around Coventry, just look for the Salsa Grille to get to Salud. We wanted to try so many more plates(ceviche! mahi tacos!) and dessert, but were full. Salud really is a 5-star choice for food, ambience, and service… but I could not stomach some of the prices. As much I keep ragging on Ft. Wayne and its dining scene, as much as a restaurant like Salud is very much needed in the Fort… the prices for the entrees and some small plates were about $ 3 – 5 dollars more than what I expected(like I was at an overpriced downtown Indy location). However, I really want this place to survive, so please go visit… at least on special occasions. It’s hard to be a cheapskate foodie.

Too many people expect huge portions. We love this place because the price is for quality rather than quantity. Great place, ambiance, servers, menu options and food quality. And many gluten free options. The place was packed! We’ll be back and will bring others. Glad we found this place.

Great tapas restaurant. A gourmet twist on Latino food. The pineapple tequila is amazing. We ordered 4 items — cicharonnes calamari, carnitas empanadas, crab tostada and the guac n roll. Everything was delicious and more than enough for 2 with take home leftovers. The calamari was very tender and flavorful — probably some of the best in Fort Wayne.

With regards to Mary’s response… there is consistency, and consistently poor value… Salud is achieving both…

Delicious! Their margaritas are the best I’ve ever had at restaurant. The food was great also. Fresh made guacamole, awesome tapas, can’t ask for much more!

Food/drink was great, but prices are lofty for quantity… had an 18 oz house margarita that was on «special» for $ 14…

I give this place a 4 – 5 star for food and drinks, I even liked the owners very much. Unfortunately, customer relations is not good. Also, we left a review on here“yelp” and felt we had to change it due to this message… from some1 called Gina A– she referred to my husband that«we are fucking with the wrong people.» I’m not sure how I feel about this. I feel maybe the way my complaint came out to the so-called bartender was not up to par on how to handle issues. Anyways, kind of sad this has happened cuz we really enjoyed this place but life goes on. The Gina A comment really sent a message to us. So Salud, I hope u make it and have nice people there. Ure food is great!, your drinks are great but yet the service there def needs work. Good luck to you. And Gina A… Screw u! And yes they def mess with the reviews on their website. So if ure thinking about looking by the reviews on the Facebook page think again it’s all manipulative. They deleted ours so their 4.9 rating is not true.

Yes, one star. That’s only because I could post zero. I was really excited to try this place out after reading the reviews. We just got off a long day on the road and it was close to our hotel. You would think that at 9:25 on a Friday night that the kitchen would be open. Very disappointed!

We went with some friends and had a great time. The food was delicious, however, you have to order a bunch to satisfy everyone. We ordered 5 items and each had 1.25 meatballs, .75 empanadas, .25 bowls of the chicken mac and cheese, unlimited chips and everyone but myself shared the guac. The mac and cheese was the best. I’ve never been before to any tapas restaurant, so I wasn’t expecting each item to be only an appetizer sized dish. With drinks, I only had 1 shot of Glenlivet 12 yr, the total bill between the two couples after tax was close to $ 150. The atmosphere was great, the food was excellent for what we got and the waitress was incredible and even taught us how to pronounce the menu items. However, the price was far above what I expected for the amount of food I actually ate. It’s a great place to hang out and get great food, just be ready to spend a bill if this is to be your main meal of the day.

This is not your typical Mexican restaurant. If you are looking for a cheese quesadilla with cheese dip go to Salsa Grille on the other side, which is great by the way. The Guac and Roll was the best Guacamole I’ve ever had. You can pick from several selections to personalize it. We added bacon and pepitas and it was so delicious. We also ordered Carnitas Empinadas and Shrimp Ceviche. I was not a fan of the Ceviche but I don’t like lemon flavor and of course all Ceviche has a strong citrus taste. The Empinadas were very good. The guacamole plus the two other plates fed two people well. Try the pineapple infused tequila. Yum! Considering the authenticity of the flavors, the uniqueness of the dishes and the freshness of the ingredients, the prices are right on point. Again, this isn’t your run of the mill Cookie cutter Mexican joint.

Went here the first week. Really impressed. Nice people, great service. Always tend to sit at the bar. Been back a few times but busy so have not had much luck getting a bar seat. Went yesterday Saturday night and found a spot for two and was thrilled. Trouble is the service was off this time. Now that they are busy, the same bar staff can’t handle the pressure. The young blond girl was running like crazy to keep up but tough. Looked like the manager was helping but never said anything. Might be a staffing issue really. Hard to get attention and get a drink. Then equal challenge to get a menu for food. Hate to see bar staff so stretched. Eventually got some food and it was good. Maybe the allure is just wearing off. Place is nice still. Not giving up yet but hate to have to ‘work’ for staffs attention after a long week and all.

This place is more of a tapas boutique than a casual tapas bar. Service, Ambiance, Tapas, and Beverages are Top-Shelf and come with premium prices, and that is still a somewhat uncommon experience in Fort Wayne. It was great, but it just wasn’t exactly what we were looking for in our search for an alternative to happy hour at a casual restaurant. We found ourselves desperately wanting some simpler/traditional/cheaper tapas options(Serano Ham, Stuffed Olives, Croquetas, and Pinchitos Moruños) to accompany the expensive creative spins on the current menu. It would be very helpful to see the portion quantities in the menu item descriptions as some plates are better for sharing at a table of four than others. Drinks are great, and strong to match the price, but again it feels like everything is a creative spin on something. How about a simple lime margarita with a great tequila that doesn’t have fruit juice, soda, or a flavored liqueur in it? All margaritas are on the rocks by the way, so don’t go on a hot day expecting anything frozen to enjoy on the(coming soon) patio. A tip: A ‘simple’ option CAN be found on the kids menu — the kids’ Cheese Quesadilla with a side of Chips and Queso Blanco. It was actually the most popular item at our table. Instead of a place we would go every Friday after work, we think this will be more of a special every few months thing.

Just opened this week, was shocked by the service and food… both great. Business meeting with clients could not have went better. Expect an assortment of food items that are anything but boring. Guacamole perfectly made table-side. Thirsty? They specialize in unique and high end mixed drinks and hard to find tequilas. Go quickly before getting a table becomes problematic!
