Casa Mañana

My almost 4 year old son and I loved our trip to Casa Mañana. The Three Little Pigs was his first play and our first time to Casa Mañana. I was a little nervous I’d have to go searching for a parking spot, as I’d read their lot is small, but we were fortunate to get one of the last available spots. BINGO! Going early would have been advisable, but things don’t always go as planned…
We both loved the play. Our favorite character was the Big Bad Wolf. He brought a lot of dimension to the cast and also meant I got to snuggle my little man whenever the wolf came on stage. He was slightly intimidating to the some of littlest ones, but also did a great job making the audience laugh.
We sat in section 7, near the back of the auditorium. We were able to see and hear everything clearly. The rows don’t offer much in leg room for those who are taller– than-​average and you should expect to stand up if anyone in your row needs to get out. No problem here, think of it as a way to make friends. Ha ha!
It was such a fun experience and I’d highly recommend the play to other parents. We’d like to make an appearance at their upcoming play, Seussical Jr., which plays from April15– May 8. Check both plays out!

What a sweet day to take my mini man to a place I hadn’t been to in about 20 years! I LOVE theatre and when I was introduced to it through the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at Casa when I was in grade school it was also needed to solidify my love of the arts. Flash forward and I’m taking my son to see Three Little Pigs and it was so much fun. I will say I was worried but Casa makes it easy by having an age scale online with their shows and the show itself was about an hour with a 20 minute intermission so all the littles could get those wiggles out. Acoustics were great! We understood everything, and honestly I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house at all. We were in section 7 and it was perfect. The play itself was so cute and fun especially for little ones. The interaction and songs were just right! We are def going to check out Suessical Jr when it opens up in April! PS– not just for kids, they had an amazing line up on the way for a fun date with your boo thang! So switch gears and get your booty on down to Casa! I’m sure you will love it just as much as we did!!!

Great job Casa! My daughter loved frosty the snowman. The staff serving drinks & snacks were outstandingly friendly. She loved that the cast came out to say hello & sign playbills at the end of the play. She was a lucky kiddo to get the last of the Santa tickets for the show as well so that was awesome.
I really don’t think there is a bad seat in the house with how it’s set up and lack of «blockers» in the round house type theme set up they have.
The only negatives were one that we had someone with sinus stuffing perfume by us; not their doing of couse; it can be hard to maneuver between seats if tall people are near by for my wide bum; but not the worst by far! The gift sales were friendly but also quick talking; but it was informative to make sure you were aware how much you are spending but at one point i almost didn’t get something thinking my total was the price of one item.
Anyway I’m looking forward to going back and am really hoping that my daughters class this year does casa for their spring trip this year like they did with the kids last year so we can go again with her friends!

Fantastic! Came here recently for my student’s class trip. The show and actors are hilarious and connect well with all audience. It had hidden adult humor within the performance which made it more enjoyable. We have a visually impaired student and they made sure she was sitting right up from and was comfortable. I would recommend coming here with family anytime!

Watching frosty the snowman. Great performance with high energy. Staff have been very kind and helpful .
Only complaint is the drink services. Ordered a baileys Irish cream coffee and they literally just handed me a coffee cup with less then half a shot of baileys and told me to go fill it with cheap coffee. Kind of ridiculous for $ 10. I understand the theater is expensive and I don’t mind giving donations but this was just stealing $ 10. Other than that our experience was positive I just wish that the bar service would have been better.

Have only been here once and had a good experience. Not wowed but nice given its a not-​for-​profit. Just wish iparking was better. If your familiar with area, pretty crowded. But it’s not their fault as much as it is the location and traffic.
It is an interesting playhouse and the show, Steel Magnolias, was well done. I think I am a bit partial to the movie so found myself continuously comparing the performers to their famous counterparts. but over all good performance. I especially enjoyed the cast when the talked to the audience afards.
The venue is large enough I believe you could sit anywhere and any seats would be good seats. Everything was well stocked and lines moved quick’ish. I would definitely go again. Enjoy!

Great experience at this little theater.
We were in Section 3, row E and I could see the wrinkles on the actors faces. Seriously not a bad seat in the house.
You can bring your adult beverages and snacks in during the show And pre-​order your drinks for intermission.
I wish this venue was closer to Dallas.

This is one of the best theater venues I’ve ever been to. The acoustics are fantastic and the size of the set is perfect. The seating is theater seating, so every seat you can see the stage well. You might think «well of course it has theater style seating», but if you have gone to Music Hall at Fair Park, you will be surprised to have to move left/​right and up/​down to see the stage in some of those seats! The size of the venue is great because it’s small enough that you don’t have to wait that long for food or drinks during intermission, but it’s big enough to bring in excellent shows like Cats! One downside is that there appears to be only one bathroom, which is fine for the guys… but this means long lines for the ladies.

LOUSY customer service. Just because you’re a non-​profit organization, that doesn’t give you the right to cut corners and to treat your patrons poorly.
First, let me start out by saying that I am a HUGE supporter of the arts. I love music and theater and I especially love non-​profit organizations that promote worthy causes. I regularly attend shows and donate as well.
I can understand if a non-​profit organization does not have the funding to institute extremely robust call support on a day with unexpected and adverse weather. HOWEVER, I believe that in light of any circumstances, any organization should do its best to offer good customer service — be accommodating, understand exceptions, try to provide an alternative, and above all else, treat people with respect and kindness. NONE of this happened.
Back in November, my friends and I bought tickets to see CATS and we were VERY excited! None of us had seen this musical before and were excited to finally cross it off the bucket list. We live in the Plano area so it would be a fairly long trek, but we figured it would be worth it! Well, the day of the show (³⁄₂), Texas gets hit with HORRIBLE weather — thundersleet and ice on the roads with sustaining below freezing temperatures. We wanted to go anyway since we’d been waiting over 3 months to see this! But as the weather continued to worsen, we decided it wouldn’t be wise to drive on the highway in an unfamiliar area and risk getting into an accident. I called well ahead of time at 4:10PM to ask if the show had been cancelled or rescheduled. The man on the phone said no. Then I asked if it was possible to get a refund, I was told again «No. If the show goes on, we don’t do refunds.» That’s all he said and he gave no options of exchanges whatsoever. I was surprised but couldn’t really do anything about it at this point, so we just accepted that as a loss. Well, another friend of mine called as well before the show started and emailed them as well to ask about alternatives (exchanges, refunds, etc.). To this day, she still has not received an answer to either attempt.
Finally 10 days go by and we try one more time (a little odd that no one even bothered to call her back or respond to her email, right?) Then this is when all the nasty responses come flowing in. We got emails back that claimed that we were lying. They said that they had people manning the phones for several hours before the show that day and they all offered exchanges to anyone who called. They also said that we couldn’t have called in because we couldn’t name the person we talked to (why would I think to remember his name? I didn’t think they would be lying to me and require me to give a detailed testimony of the sequence of events). Plus how many people could have possibly been on the phones at the exact same time? It’s fairly easy to narrow down the sources if you tried…
I was able to explain that I called the Casa Mañana Box Office at exactly 4:10PM and spoke to a gentleman for one minute. He offered no refunds and no exchanges whatsoever. He was very short on the phone and that was the end of the call. Upon providing this information and also offering screen shots proving calls were made by two of us before the show time, Casa Mañana replied back both by phone and email with absurd questions like «Did you really call us? If so, who did you talk to? Do you know we’re a non-​profit theater? If you can’t provide us with a name, then we can’t do anything for you. The show is over and you should have reached out before.»
I am just in disbelief. Not only did they provide poor customer service on the day of the show (not offering exchanges and not returning phone calls or emails), but they now accused us of lying. And they threw the fact that they were a «non-​profit organization» in our face… what, to gain sympathy?
Again, I am a huge supporter of non-​profits and the music/​arts programs, but I cannot stand rude people and unprofessionalism. No situation should ever warrant that kind of disrespect and attack on character. Even if you made a mistake when handling our calls, couldn’t you at least have apologized for the inconvenience or made an attempt to resolve the situation? All you did was say «Sorry, there’s nothing we can do.»
Get your act together, Casa Mañana. Yes, I realize you’re a non-​profit organization, but that doesn’t absolve you of your actions and it certainly doesn’t give you the right to treat your customers like dirt. I think I would’ve really enjoyed seeing CATS and you could have gained 5 new long-​time patrons. But now you just irritated a bunch of people and tainted your name in the process. I will never purchase tickets at Casa Mañana ever again and I will surely warn everyone I know to stay away from your theater. It’s not worth the hassle or the accusations of our personal character.

Last Tuesday I treated my parents to Miss Saigon in celebration of my mom’s birthday. The production itself was rather good, though the sound was a bit too… shrill? to really hear /​understand what they were singing. I get the impression that the facility isn’t really all that great for acoustics.
My big issue is perhaps a bit silly, but nonetheless, I feel compelled to mention it. The restrooms are only on one side, the far side. Way down past the bar and gift shop counters. The bar and gift shop fill up very fast before the show and especially at intermission, thereby making it quite the trek to get to the restroom. I had gotten out quite early, and thought it was just the line for the ladies room. I stepped outside instead, opting to return towards the end of intermission. That was worse, as the bar line was double the length, making it impossible to go around. I had to «excuse me» my way through the line, where people, though acknowledging my presence, made only a minor effort to let me pass. I quite literally had to push through, feeling rude the whole way, but what else could I do?
Turns out there are like 30 stalls in the ladies room and no line at all. It’s just the mass of people out in the lobby that don’t want to move. Not a good setup in the least. OH, and the latches on the stalls — the two I tried — were not screwed in properly or something.
I know it’s silly, but it was really irritating. They could easily fan people out along the bar instead of straight back.
Overall though, it was a find place for a local show. Just wish the acoustics were better.

We went with neighbors last Friday to see Tom Sawyer. I had been wanting to go for years but never had the opportunity until now. The place is very nice and I was surprised by how good the cast was. Excellent kid friendly show. Seemed like there was not a bad seat in the house. Only complaint would be that it was a little cold inside.

The cheapest seats are pretty good and comfortable. We saw the Oliver Twist show. It lasted 1 hour 20 mins. The show was great, moved fast and a great value$. Id been there years ago and forgot why we don’t go more often. We will when another show of interest comes onto town.
Go eat at the restaurant at the Modern Museum after wards instead of Gross Gringos across the street.

OMG!!! This production of Hairspray was probably the absolute best I have seen. The intimate venue for this show worked out great and the cast was incredible. Great Job Casa!

This is the first time I have been to this place and it was not all bad. My wife and I were there to see Sweeney Todd and we were invited by American Airlines to a pre-​show reception in the lobby for free drinks and some eats.
It is a nice small place and the people that worked there are really nice. It was easy to get to off the highway. I noticed that they only had half the seating area open. The stage was cut in half, probably because they did not expect that many people there for the 2pm show on a Sunday. The seating area was comfortable and spacious. It seemed that every seat had a great view of the stage. The sound system was good but not great.
Overall it was a nice experience and would go back.

I was here last year and thought it was a cute place to see a play. Easy to get to– plenty of parking & decent seating/​sound, etc. Actually went 2 nights while in town, and had a good experience both times.

For years and years casa was a cutting edge risk taking production company that didn’t back down. Now they have surrendered to political correctness run amok.
Putting on Huck Finn by Mark Twain with no Jim — sad sad sad.
If you are that big a coward, don’t steal the work and claim to be doing a Twain play.
Twain had guts and talant — casa appears to have neither.
