I have a lot of ballet experience behind me so that may be why I expected more from my first beginners class. I understand it is a beginners class and isn’t going to encompass much, the very nature of it. But the class was lower than minimal. I came to the study 15 minutes prior to my session, as I had to register first. Simple, quick form to fill out and sign. I arrived with my hair up and no make up so you can imagine my surprise when all others in the class(who have done many sessions) came with their hair down and visibly style. Everyone(including the instructor) and except me literally had a full face of make up on. In hindsight, this should’ve been my first clue that this was not going to be a real work out. This was after the fact that, the instructor asked me to move my car as I was in some one else’s «spot,» who would’ve been very upset that I took it. She was referring to another instructor. No markings anywhere that indicated the spot was reserved in any way. But it’s good to know customer service is high on their list. Sarcasm of course. For small businesses, customer service should pristine in my belief. The instructor was nice and patient. I’m not sure that she has ever had formal training on instructing a dance class though. She didn’t use technical terms and only referenced a technical term once in the entire 1 hour. I was surprised she wasn’t trying to teach any technical terms either. The classes are structured in a way that is not advantageous for anyone coming into the classes at random times. Each stage(beginner, intermediate, expert, etc.) has 9 levels within each stage. We were on level 3 of the beginners class when I began and was told that I had to go through the rest of the levels to level 9, then complete level 1 and 2 before being able to move forward. This is ironic given that if someone completes level 3 — 9 they shouldn’t have to go back and complete levels 1 — 2. There also isn’t really any completing of any levels though. From what I can see, they just move from one level to the other without much judgement. I have never been to a dance studio structured in this way, given ballet is different but this method seems off.

Miabella from Crescent Moon came and taught a belly dance at a 30th birthday party I just threw fors ome friends of mine. This was truly the highlight of the party! Miabella was extremely professional, punctual, and really got the crowd into the dancing. It was a great surprise, and to all of our surprise, many of us really«got» it! I’d love to take lessons from her… in the meantime we’re thinking about throwing a «belly dance party» for a bunch of us girls. If you’re looking for a great addition to a party, definitely give her a call. She was fantastic!

Where do I start? I took my very first bellydance lesson(my very first DANCE lesson) at CM from Miabella in November of 1998. I remember I got lost, as many people do their first time out there. But don’t let the weird location fool ya. Twelve years later, I have seen and heard it all when it comes to bellydance instructors in the DFW area, and I really believe Miabella is the best. Truly. She is professional and patient and truly does this because it is her passion and her calling. In order to keep her business alive, sometimes she has to hike up tuition or something, but that’s just because she’s taking care of business! She is an amazing teacher and person. I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like learning from anyone else. When I started there, it was just Miabella teaching three or four different levels of bellydance classes. Now there is soooo much more! After I felt I had run my course, so to speak, with regular bellydance classes, I started taking tribal bellydance with Brandy. She is an amazing, sweet and patient person as well. She is super knowledgeable in her field of expertise too. Just come to the studio and check it out. You’ll be a bellydance junkie in no time!
