I’ve only been here for lunch, but it’s fantastic. They have great portions, good prices and tasty food. The Carlitos Bowl(a burrito bowl with charro beans, steak, cilantro, onions and rice) is fantastic. The food is served with this chipotle mayo that is flavorful and has a good kick. I’ve had a sandwich once and it was also good. They serve them in a cigar box, which is a cool touch.

This place has been open for-ev-ah! Used to frequent it a lot. Great cocktails, love the mojitos. Latin feel and good music. It’s a cool lounge and kick it type spot. Bring friends and chill out. Maybe dance in your chair and shimmy a bit. Need to go back for some Cuban cuisine.

Great Cuban food with huge portions. I got the Cubana sandwich, always a favorite of mine. It came with chips that had fried plantains mixed in. Wow what a deadly combo. I wish they sold the damn things so I could buy them all the time. Didn’t get a chance to try any of the drinks but they looked a bit pricey. All I can say is people I talked to said they were worth every penny though. Also, they have live music and dancing most nights. I’ll have to return to try out the drinks and the nightlife.

This is a great club! I really like the bachata and salsa lessons! It’s pretty fun. I am giving 5 stars to the club, the music, and the lessons. I have not tried the food yet.

First time and it exceeded my expectations! I had the steak street tacos… YUM! The rice and borracho beans were even better. The hubby had the carnita street tacos and he said they were delicious. He had rice and blackbeans… he really enjoyed both. When I walked in my expectations weren’t very high as it looked stoic. Almost like you were in old Cuba… they have jazz bands on Sunday and salsa and meringue lessons on Wednesday and Thursday. Will visit again when in Ft. Worth.

Been here many more times for lunch since my first visit and have turned a number of co-workers on to it. It’s now among the favorite places in the office to hit up for lunch. I’ve tried all of the sandwiches and a couple of the tacos and everything ranges from very good to great. Staff is very courteous and it’s never packed, though I think word is getting out because it is getting busier. Happy for them though, it’s a great place for lunch.

But lately I’ll been notice they have a different dj on that day and honestly his pretty bad, we check this place on Saturday nite and actually it’s way better also know this place by great authentic Cuban mojitos and great selection of import beers.

I went with a couple of friends when we were trying to get a taste of Ft. Worth nightlife. They were charging a cover before 10:00 or 10:30 because there was a band. It was $ 5, and felt okay about supporting. There were some tables inside, kind of a hole in the wall feel which is good. The bouncer told us that a dj was set to come on after the band. When they finished, the dj started spinning salsa music. That makes sense since it is a Cuban restaurant, but he almost made it seem like it would be different. We found a table. There were mainly couples, kind of a middle age to older crowd. When we saw a guy with a mullet and Teva sandals salsa dancing around by himself, that was our cue to leave.

We went on a Friday night, so we got to see more of the live music than the normal restaurant. I would rather come back for lunch, becuase the food was fantastic. The sandwich I got had perfectly cooked carne asada. My only complaint was how difficult it was to find somewhere to sit, but that was becuase they cleared things to make a dance floor, I suppose. The mojitos were also wonderful, with real sugar cane sticks.

Food is fantastico – cannot go wrong with anything on the menu – beers and wine are really reasonable – mojitos are tasty but not really worth $ 10 — everything else was great !!! Including our waitress!!!

Most of the action is around the bar, until the music starts… Then the dance floor livens up. Embargo has a stage for live music which can be a lot of fun. It definitely has and old Cuba feel to it with colorfully painted walls and booths with seating for dinner. The mojitos come in many varieties and are highly recommended. The service is good too. I had a great great time dancing. They also do salsa dancing classes, unfortunately don’t have much information about that.

From the spot-on Mojitos to the delicious Cuban Press sandwiches, Embargo is also a fabulously hidden gem of a music venue. On one occasion, with friends in town, we stumbled in to find The Jazz Monsters, playing great Big Band tunes. We danced and drank and felt transported to a romantic past. Also, a few months ago, they had an underattended but brilliant performance from the free jazz genius of Yells at Eels.

When I walked into this place I felt like I was transported back to Miami. I heard they had the best mojitos around(truth) but I didn’t know anything about their food. But, I was HUNGRY. I didn’t expect it to be great, I just wanted food. I was shocked to read that they used grass-fed meat. SCORE! So, I ordered the Tacos Pastor and the Charro beans. WOW! It was spectacular. Loved it! One of the guys in our group(who is hispanic) said«Hey, those smell like the real deal!» so he ordered some and he was thrilled. I ate every bite. A couple of hours later, I was hungry again, so I ordered a cuban sandwich. Forgot the name… it had pork and some other stuff, and a spicy mustard sauce on the side. It was served with tortilla chips, plantain chips, and salsa. I have to say, that sauce and that sandwich were a match made in heaven. I don’t normally like mustard. The salsa was delicious, as were the chips. I brought the extra mustard home with me… but I really just need to go back and get another sandwich like that one!!! I can see myself developing an obsession with this place. I am not Cuban either… just a simple country girl who loves good food, good atmosphere, and good service(which they killed on!). My ONLY complaint was that the band was so loud that I couldn’t hear the singer. When there are only 15 people in the place, turn the sound DOWN some. :)

I love this place! I went last night for the Thursday Salsa lessons and had a great time! Really delicious mojitos and fun dancing. We arrived around 7:30, just in time to catch the last of a great happy hour. Mojitos were $ 6(as opposed to $ 9) and well worth it. Served in a big glass with lots of muddled mint and citrus — yum! They had flavored ones too but those were out of my budget. Also on special were $ 1 Corona Especials in 7-once baby bottles(apparently called«Coronitas»). They were also serving tasty little $ 1 tacos. After happy hour ended, the regular sized Coronas went up to $ 3, which is not bad, but I had to step away from the Mojitos. The crowd started to pour in, and around 9:30 they pushed the tables out of the way and started a dance lesson. There were a ton of people(this excites me because I am never at a very crowded bar in Fort Worth, somehow). The instructor was fun and pretty easy to follow. Everyone was pretty into the dancing, and they had the women rotate around the circle, so we got to dance with lots of people. I imagine this would be a great way for singles to meet. So fun! After the lesson, people were really getting into some Salsa. It was fun for dancers and voyeurs alike. I highly recommend for a Thursday night.

Embargo seriously has the«as good as it gets» Cuban Sandwich. My husband is a very picky man when it comes to trying food and after convincing him he’d love this sandwich, he now compares anything else with this Cuban! Not only do they have a killer Cuban, the rest of their food is to die for. The ingredients are fresh and the last time I checked, their meat was grass fed(big plus in my books). The atmosphere is out of this world… well, out of this country for sure. It’s like you are stepping into a legit Cuban establishment. The service is great and if you catch the owner, he is sure to put a smile on your face. Embargo is dedicated to bringing you the best entertainment, food and drink. I only wish that I could frequent Embargo more often…

I really love conceptually what Embargo’s all about: take all of the weathered and character-heavy Cuban cliches(the fifties autos, the cracked frescoes, the ever-present Latin back-beat)…if you close your eyes, you can almost hear the waves breaking. It’s also clearly set up to morph into a club(no doubt in the evenings), and to that end it’s a very simple arrangement with a warm bar on one end and a sturdy stage at the other. I’m guessing(though I can’t confirm for sure) that they move the tables out(or at least around) in the evening to accommodate the dancing and twirling that must happen here. It’s a happy room, a room full of suggestions. A mood enhancer. That said, I stopped in recently for lunch and it’s much more of a muted spectacle in that regard: the lunchtime menu is somewhat limited in scope(I’ve been fortunate enough to stalk some terrific Cuban fare from Miami to NYC and beyond, and though I don’t always love when folks use other locales as irrefutable evidence, in this case, having Cuban food in Miami feels pretty authentic). In general, Cuban menus are often populated with rich, vibrant flavors that taste like salsa music sounds: full of life. On this day, I opted for a trio of different taco selections: they’re fairly boutique in size, but the flavor was there, and the diminutive corn tortillas seemed to get the job done. If you go to eat, know that parking is probably a little bit more of a hassle downtown during working hours. And I can’t say that it was the most life-affirming meal I’ve ever had. But it’s a lively conversation. And there are worse things than that that could end up on your palate.

The best damn mojitos in all of Texas! The prize used to go to Cuba Libre in Austin due to the fact that they stuck-in a piece of sugar cane into your mojito. However, they closed down and I discovered the Embargo mojito. You have a choice of regular mojito of pomegranate, where the flavor comes from a pomegranate liqueur. It’s really the perfect combination of lime juice, mint, soda, and Bacardi(which I normally do not like!). Going rate for a mojito is $ 9. A little on the pricy side but I’m willing to pay for this mojito!

Whenever in a new city, I always google salsa options(and no, I’m talking about caliente or pico de gallo). For the Dallas area on a Thursday night, I found Embargo in Forth Worth. The bar is just on the edge of downtown Fort Worth & we were able to nab a parking space on the street for free. We arrived around 9:30, and I assumed we were going to miss the free salsa lesson at 9, but as luck would have it, they were running late(probably waiting for more people to show up). Katie & Frederic from Mambo Dallas( ) were the instructors for the evening. They gave a decent beginning class where they taught the basic step, women’s right turn, and a couple of men’s right turns. The lesson was fun, and there were about 12 people out on the floor learning salsa. The bar is definitely cool, and does well with the whole Cuban vibe and«no passport required» theme. The atmosphere is chic, island life, with a splash of chill. Arr work adorns the brick walls with long white curtains covering the large windows of the space. Oh, and another big plus for dancers, they had excellent ventilation and the temperature was just right — it wasn’t super hot: perfect for dancing. After the lesson, I thought about a mojito, but opted for a caipirinha. The mixologist of the night knows how to make a good and strong drink(it was almost as good as the ones I make!). There was a salsa band which played for the evening(Caribbean Breeze), and once they were set up, the bar was much more crowded with salseros ready to take over. The band played mainly salsa, along with some merengue, and bachata. My only gripe about the music was the sound. The music was a little too loud distorted for me. I ended up chickening out of asking anyone dancing, but I had a good time watching. Overall, I’d definitely come here again. Fort Worth looks like a cool area, and Embargo offers a great venue for salsa & an escape to Cuba.
