Once upon a time, I was blown away by Happy Bowl — specifically the Green Curry with Chicken. But lately I have been disappointed by a few aspects: flavor and consistency, spice level, and SALT! I am a Thai curry connoisseur. I have been to Thailand. I have taken a cooking class in Thailand, etc. So I really know Thai food. I keep trying to give them another chance and last night was no exception. Once again, they failed me. Curry was super thin and runny. The spice level was way too high(I asked for 2 and got 4!). And again — too much SALT! It pains me to write a bad review for these folks as they are the nicest people. :/

We generally don’t like to order Thai food at places that sell Chinese too, nevertheless we tried this no frills gem today and had a good time eating padthai, portions are equivalent to twice as much as other places like Thai select

Hole in the wall Thai restaurant! This place was recommended to me by my old coworkers so why not! As I drove by and see it in a sketchy mall strip I questioned it a little but hey those are always the best ones! Lunch portions were huge! Well worth it! Comes with egg roll or soup and a free tea. I got chicken pad Thai and it was heaven in my mouth. It wasn’t overly sweet like some places and I didn’t even have to squeeze any lime juice for that extra tang I like. I didn’t finish it I actually had to take the rest home.

I found Happy Bowl on Unilocal while killing time before a meeting and decided to try it out. 1st it’s in an old unassuming strip mall/shopping center for the lack of a better description. I came inside and was greeted by a soft spoken but very nice gentleman. The place is very clean! I ordered house fried rice and spring rolls. The spring rolls came out first and man was I pleased. That set the tone for the meal. The fried rice was perfect, not greasy and FRESH everything! All was so good that I decided to order a garlic chicken to go! I would drive here from miles away(I live about an hour without traffic) to eat it again. Probably the best in DFW, no exaggeration. I have had Thai in Flower Mound and Grapevine since I live in that area and none compares.

Pad Ped, #3 spicy: Ample serving of chicken, bell peppers in red curry paste. Just right on the #3 spicy index, hot, but not too hot. Friendly service & clean restroom.

Ordered Green curry on Christmas eve, 4 out of 5 spice. I read this place was authentic, so I didn’t go 6 out of 5. I can happily say this is the best Thai I’ve had in the United States! Fantastic! Too bad I’m only in town on vacation.

My rating is strictly for the food, which is delicious! Otherwise, there are plenty of flaws that will probably scare off a lot of folks(location, restroom, don’t speak Thai) but the cooking makes up for all of it. I can’t pronounce what I usually order(or anything else on the menu) but I’m never disappointed. It truly makes me happy to eat here. Thanks Happy Bowl!

Wow. This place is a little hole in the wall tucked away in White Settlement that you wouldn’t see if you weren’t looking for it. The food is amazing. I had chicken pad Thai for lunch and the portion size was gigantic. I like spicy but not too much and I’m silly and ordered a 3 anyway and my sinuses should be clear for the week. I would order a step down from what you normally like. But seriously. So delicious.

I like this little hole in the wall family owned place. I always get the chicken pad Thai spicy 3. The spice levels are not overdone. 3 is enough heat that you can eat it but your lips will burn halfway into the dish. I have tasted the chicken curry. It also has good flavor. I’ve learned they don’t bring a check so when you are ready just go to the register. Don’t let the outside fool you. It is worth the stop.

Amazing food with amazing staff! We laughed hard at the spicyness as the staff made us go for the less spicy choices which were still a little hot but so tasty!

Delicious veggie soup & hot basil noodles with chicken… Family owned/operated… There are Thailand travel books to browse while you’re eating. The staff and male owner worked at a leisurely pace, but overall service was good. The food is hot and tasty! I will return.

Service and food were great. The owner is very friendly. I had the pad kee mao gai(4⁄5 spice) and my mother had pad kra pao gai(3⁄5). Spicy enough but not overwhelming, large portions of chicken, and not greasy. Clean, basic dining area in line with the menu prices. If I lived near the area it would be my regular Thai place.

Some of the best flavor on a massaman I have had… well maybe ever! They have outstanding lunch prices and provide you with complimentary soup and iced tea. Spice wise, a two seems to be perfect for those who can handle a moderate kick. Awesome find in the middle of FW.

High three, low four! Service: When my boyfriend and I went on a summer Monday lunch, there was just one(really nice!) man serving three tables. After we ordered, we waited about 25 minutes for our food. Food: We ordered the Tom Yum Soup, spicy level 2⁄5 — it was pretty dang spicy(I don’t tolerate spicy very well), but really delicious and perfectly flavorful. The Massaman Curry over rice was really delicious, creamy, sweet & spicy! Yummy. Definitely my favorite of the meal. The Pad Thai probably brought my review down a star, just because it didn’t taste very authentic — the«pad thai» flavor of tamarind and spices was just lacking! ANYWAY, I will be back for their curries because yum.

For a little location tucked away in White Settlement, our meal was great. We decided to try something new and based off the reviews and recommendations from friends. This spot did not disappoint. The pad Thai was great! Portions are large so you can take some home or share.

Just came in for a quick lunch and was really impressed by how delicious everything was. This is definitely a hole in the wall but there’s nothing wrong with that. Service was nice and extremely fast. The only thing I thought was a little off about the food was how spicy everything was. We requested a 4⁄5 because normally at other Thai places 4 is spicy but not to the point where your lips get huge because it is so spicy. The 4 here felt like a 5 – 6 it was so spicy! I know I’m going to regret eating something so spicy in a day or two, haha. Since I’m not from the area I can’t say this will become my regular Thai place but I can say that I’ll be back when I’m in the area again. I just won’t be getting any heat added to me food, haha. This place is great and I can’t wait to be back!

Really, I ordered the Spring rolls(picture posted on here) and it’s just garden mix salad wrapped… Shame on you Happy Bowl on White Settlement!

Ok, Happy Bowl is kind of a hole-in-the-wall place in an old, small strip mall. The outside and inside are a bit rough and dated. Even the service can be kind of… how would I put it… brusque. But, when it comes to the food, I really like this place. I am a Thai Basil Chicken fan and this place takes me back to my days in Thailand. Maybe it’s a combination of the food and the atmosphere but I find myself heading over here to grab a plate of Basil Chicken more often then I care to admit. And a word to the wise, beware the spicy level 5! I love hot Thai food but I have to say that 4 is about all I can do and still enjoy it.

I always have to be a little careful when I’m out on the road, traveling for work. However today I was having a craving for some Thai food… And yet again Unilocal… You pointed me in the right direction. It’s a dive Thai place. It has a very retro 70’s feel to it… But, that is also what gives places like that character. I love reading what people have posted prior to me, to see if any of the normal dishes that I get are mentioned. Luckily, my Pad Sew Ew was not. However, after seeing a picture of the tom kha soup… I knew I had to try it… It was fantastic. Very unique use of potatoes in the soup, while never going away from the coconut milk base. And for my main course, a lot of people like to gauge their Thai experience by getting pad Thai… We’ll, I go for pad sew ew. And this main dish did not disappoint. Fresh, crisp veggies, a perfect spicing scale.(When the waiter holds up his hand for how spicy… You know it’s going to pack a punch.) I said 3… He chuckled and said, I give you 2. And boy was I glad he did. My first bite set the tone for the rest of the meal. Great spices, great ingredients, and enough to take home for leftovers. Thank you very much!
