We were visiting from Austin and decided to eat here based on reviews from Unilocal, and we were able to easily walk from our hotel. My husband had the Cubano sandwich, he says the best he’s ever had. We also had the pork tacos, fresh and flavorful, and the chicken sandwich, excellent! The margaritas were well done, top notch fresh ingredients! Highly recommend!”

On my first visit to La Pearla Negra I left giving it 5 stars! I went for my birthday dinner with some friends. The service was wonderful, the ambiance was great not to mention the tequila and the food was fantastic! I’m giving this place 2 stars… let me tell you why. I was so excited to take my mom here for mother’s day. After raving about this place to her she was excited to try it. We get there and everything seamed to be normal like the first time. Until we get our menus. They completely changed the menu! I was NOT happy about that. According to the waitress something about new management and wanting to put there name or stamp on the menu… HUGEMISTAKE! The portion of ceviche I got that the menu said was enough to share with two people was a fourth of the portion I got the first time I went. Don’t be fooled by the pictures of the ceviche on here… THAT’S NOTTHECASEANYMORE! Our waitress was great trying to go above and beyond for us not to be disappointed. But the food and the menu change was a huge disappointment. I would not go back for the ceviche. Would go back for drinks though. Service and ambiance is still good.

My company hosted a happy hour at La Perla Negra in association with a conference held at the Ft Worth Convention Center. I could not be more thrilled with our experience. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. Tony was wonderful to plan the event prior and handled execution the day of flawlessly. The food was amazing! We enjoyed empanadas, ceviche and guacamole– all were delicious! The environment was fun and casual and provided a great atmosphere for our guests to network and chat. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will plan to return!

the first time i came here, last december, i was in love! the service was exceptional and the owner/manager was really friendly with us, we were very impressed. we came back again a few weeks later because we were craving their vegan food and some patio margaritas! again, a pretty good experience, although the bartender wasn’t very attentive and we were the only ones there. a couple of months ago we went again and we were the only table inside and our appetizer was completely forgotten and service again wasn’t very good. there was a male bartender this time, and people from the patio kept coming inside to order, looking pretty frustrated, because he wasn’t coming outside to check on them. we were pretty disappointed/surprised with that experience. my boyfriend went back last week with some people he works with to discover they’ve removed the vegan options from their menu… why?! i understand a business needing to re-vamp their menu, but when people with a specific lifestyle have been able to count on your restaurant before, it’s pretty upsetting to have that option taken away. since they no longer offer food we will eat, and the service is no longer outstanding, i guess i will be enjoying the patio weather elsewhere.

I love eating here. Read about the menu changes and stopped back in. Some great additions while keeping a retooling things I liked before. My wife loved the stuffed avocado with tuna. Everything has a great refreshing taste to it. Great as we head into summer. As great as the food is the service is even better. All the staff is attentive and helpful. They are proud of the food they serve and it shows. Definitely a place you must stop in for.

I have been looking to eat here for months and finally did. We sat at the bar and had great service. The veggie sandwich was amazing and the tuna bowl was also good. The restaurants has a great selection on tequila. The margaritas will keep you coming back to this place. It’s a smaller restaurant with a family feel and vibe to it. I hope you enjoy dining here as much as we did.

Found this place via Unilocal!while visiting Fort Worth Convention Center. There was an event going on and they obviously got slammed unexpectedly. It took a while, but the staff dealt with it well. We waited, but understood what was happening. My mom’s ceviche was amazing. My empanada was cold, but quickly remedied. We had a great experience here despite showing up when they were really being challenged to the max.

I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. I’ve been here more times than I can count. I love this place so much, I’ve convinced pretty much everyone I work with to go, and everyone’s a fan. I was first introduced to La Perla Negra at a Unilocal Event, where we got to try multiple items. Every item we tried was amazing. Plus, the free popcorn(yes, popcorn), is savory goodness. Somehow, it pairs perfectly with all of their drinks and cocktails, of which there are MANY. I’m a huge fan of ceviche, and this place delivers. There’s multiple different ways to have it, with different flavors and styles. And, they do things with quinoa that will blow your mind. I’m also a huge fan of tequila and Mezcal, and La Perla Negra is the SPOT for both. If you want to do shots, you’ve got a plethora of choices. And, if you’re looking for cocktails, they’ve got you covered as well. Try the Vampiro, it’s a delicious take on a Bloody Mary, or a Mezcal Mule, which is a tasty take on the Moscow Mule with a Mexican flare. They’ve also got a pretty extensive wine and beer selection. As for customer service, everyone here seems to care about your experience. Everyone from the bartenders to the waitstaff are knowledgeable about the menu, including the tequila. Everyone is also willing to chit-chat, including the owners and chef. They are especially passionate about La Perla Negra and changing the way you look at Mexican fare. Finally, if you’re looking for a date spot, this is the spot. Not only is the food good and the customer service spot on, the bar itself is beautiful. As Kendall said, the top of the bar is made of amethyst and the lights shine through, giving the bar an almost mystical glow. It makes the entire place feel special. All in all, if you’re in downtown Fort Worth, you must drop this place. If you work downtown, you must go here at least once for lunch. Is it worth the drive if you’re outside downtown Fort Worth? Absolutely, even if you’re in Dallas.

I’ll give this restaurant another chance, but it didn’t impress us for a Valentine’s date. The place is probably too casual, small and/or new to pull off a fixed price Valentine’s menu with two waves of people dining at once. The service wasn’t great, again our waiter seemed scattered. I’m a vegetarian which means no fish and though they advertised a vegetarian option they obviously thought that included fish. I definitely threw them for a loop but the chef talked to me and was accommodating. My husband said his crab cake wasn’t warm but the rest of the food was pretty good. The highlight was dessert, tres leches popsicles on cake, topped with berries and mint. My husband said his La Perla margarita was excellent. Very small casual place out of the main Sundance Square hubbub.

My first visit to La Perla Negra was for Sunday Brunch. Parking was a bit hard to find nearby as there were 20,000 kids in town for a dance/cheer competition at the nearby Tarrant Co. Convention Center. Hard to tell their ages with the 6 pounds of makeup they each sported, but I digress. After circling the area for 15minutes I gave up and went for paid parking 4 blocks away. Luckily I had dropped off my 3 dining companions so they were not subject to my misguided hunt for free on street parking. They were into what I assume was their 3rd bowl of gourmet popcorn and their second bottle of cucumber lime water by the time I finally arrived at this fun, funky, intimate bar/restaurant. My wife was the only one at our table to order a drink, her mimosa was well crafted and served in a generously sized glass for $ 6.($ 12 bottomless) I had the breakfast Chorizo tacos and a ham/cheese/egg empanada. Both were very tasty, the tacos a bit spicy for my gringo digestive tract but nothing a sprite didn’t solve. Wife had the shrimp ceviche, which was a generous portion she could barely finish. Our friends had the seared Ahi Tuna salad bowl and the Chilaquiles. They seemed to enjoy both. Overall this is a great place to grab some good food and drinks on the south end of downtown.

Really cool place that has been open a only 9 months. Was pretty empty on a Sunday so we got top notch service from the bartender. Quaint menu with only a few food options. I checked in with Unilocal and got a free shot of tequila! Woohoo! It was happy hour so bottomless mimosas. We received cucumber water and a bowl or popcorn as we were seated. Got the picadillo empanadas which were delicious! A light crispy outside with some flavorful beef and peas inside. As my main I got the tuna ceviche on top of cabbage, plenty of tomatoes, cucumber, radish and you can choose your choice of wolf milk so I went for spicy. My husband got the Dominicana sandwich with steak, ham, mozzarella, onion, cilantro & chipotle. Really cute vibe with a NYC Soho vibe; brick wall and minimalist décor but modern. Loved it!

You rocked my whole world in one night La Perla! First make sure you check in here for a special treat to start off with, and then order yourself one of the most delicious empanadas I have ever had! Two is more than enough for a meal! I actually saved one for lunch for work the next day and splurged on an apple empanada and baby let me tell you… HEAVEN! Do you hear me??? So flipping good! It was not expensive at all, and Monday’s are $ 5 mojito night and those were great! I can’t wait to take the hubby here so he can rave about it just as much as I am!

The first time we went here was for an Elite event. we had the whole place, and they let us sample their margaritas(tequila bar so the drinks were the stars of the place). and we also got to try their empanadas and ceviche. Both are so delicious. We went back last week for dinner with a fairly large group. the server was very kind and helpful and had no trouble accommodating our group. My fiancé got the Cuban sandwich, it was great. and I just had another empanada — yum! Also, checking in on Unilocal earned you a free shot! Score! I love this place. my only complaint was that it was burning up in there. I thought about standing outside for a little bit. they could have turned down the heat. But maybe it’s hard to regulate because of the kitchen and it’s a very small space, not sure. Definitely will return!

I visited this restaurant for the first time the other evening, and HOLYEMPANADAS!!! I ordered the picadillo one and the ham and cheese, and they were both really good. I recommend the picadillo over the ham and cheese, but the empanadas at this restaurants are a decent size. They serve popcorn as their snack before you order, but the restaurant will be revising their menu a little bit. This place would have gotten 5 star if they didn’t run out of the picadillo empanada. They don’t have a huge variety of items, but the food is pretty tasty. If you check in, you get a free shot of tequila. Service was pretty good.

This is a pretty chill spot in Fort Worth. They have a solid drink menu and a small, but good menu. I suggest trying«The Dominican» sandwich, don’t worry if you don’t see it on the menu, just ask for it, you won’t regret it. The staff is great and makes sure you are taken care of. Sometimes they have Unilocal specials and you get a free shot of tequila, make sure to check-in!

Stopped by for a quick dinner and discovered their ceviche(Shrimp and Costa). The portion is a little small and the ceviche lacked the seafood sweetness and was a little too tangy. I wished they had used larger shrimp rather than niblets sized one. Flavor was good, but I’ve had better ceviche. The mojitos was superb. It was 105 outside and that mojito was the perfect thing. This is a tequila and mescal bar. If you like tequila, I am sure you’ll find something cool here.

Stylish option for(mostly) healthy food with a Latin American flair, just blocks from the Fort Worth Intermodal train station. The space is very intimate, with dim lighting and a bar area saturated in warm red and orange hues. As I squinted at the impossibly small type on the menu, it occurred to me that Perla Negra is aiming for the young, hipster crowd, and that an oldster like me probably isn’t part of their target audience. Nevertheless, I was there for a Unilocal event, so I gamely pulled out my reading glasses and checked out the mile-long tequila menu, with prices ranging all the way up to $ 85. They also offer classic Latin American cocktails like margaritas, caipirinhas and pisco sours — not to mention bottles of the iconic Pacifico beer. You will be treated to freshly popped popcorn while you sip on your drink. Unilocal had arranged for us to try a sampling of the menu — and oh, what a treat it was. First up was a pair of empanadas — one ham and cheese, and the other one I think was called picadillo, with raisins, olives and ground beef. Both were richly flavored, crispy-crusted and generously portioned — in fact at $ 7 per pair, probably the best value on the menu — and the least healthy(although so satisfying). Next up was the quinoa bowl with avocado, whch I felt good about eating because it was crisp and refreshing, and seemed to be full of healthy ingredients. Last up was the ceviche — we got to try both the shrimp and tilapia. You can order these«dressed» with a hot, tangy, or sweet and sour theme. I’m a hothead, and I found the hot(a.k.a. «amarillo») shrimp ceviche simply divine, accented appropriately with a slice of hot jalapeño. Our server told us that on Sundays, they feature breakfast empanadas with $ 12 bottomless mimosas. I’m a sucker for good empanadas so I’ll almost certainly be back.

Location in downtown Fort Worth is excellent. There’s a cozy patio with 4 or 5 tables. The interior isn’t spacious. It’s definitely a small, cozy setting. I like it a lot. I appreciate the friendliness and the knowledge of the staff. I also appreciate the valet service especially considering the downtown location. The margaritas are strong and their really good. I’m a lightweight so 1 was all I needed. The Picadillo Empanadas are delicious. I also had the shrimp ceviche and an appetizer that I have no idea how to pronounce, but everything was quite tasty. I definitely recommend. If you pop in while hanging out downtown I think you’ll be pleased with your choice.

I walked by this place headed for dinner one night while I was in town and thought it looked like a cute place to grab a quick bite or hang out for drinks with friends on the patio. The next day for lunch I was on my own and decided to stop in. There was one other patron almost finished with his meal so I had my choice of seats. I decided to sit at the bar and was greeted by the friendly staff and a short a sweet lunch menu. And you can’t forget the complementary little bowls of seasoned popcorn! I was torn between ordering the chicken sandwich and the Cuban. I went for the chicken and was delighted to have a light but filling sandwich topped with shredded, roasted chicken and a life-changing cilantro lime aioli! It was one of the most incredible sandwiches I’ve ever tasted in my life. A group of gentlemen came in as I was about to start the second half of my sandwich and brought me out of my aioli haze as they sat at the bar next to me and asked what I recommended. Of course I said the sandwich and three of them ordered that, the fourth sprung for the Cuban and man I’m glad he did! He offered me a cut off portion as I mentioned I thought it sounded great as well and it sure was! Lunch hour turned into a party when we ordered mojitos, which were perfection. A woman who slipped in to the restaurant and ate at a table behind me came up to the bar once the gentlemen left and she and I ordered a second round of drinks. The atmosphere is one that lends itself to strangers sharing food and having drinks together at 1 p.m. on a Thursday, and it turns out that’s my kind of place! I wish there were a location in Oklahoma so I could have it weekly, alas I’ll just have to make another trip to Ft. Worth soon!
