The first time my son got sick after eating here I thought it might be just a coincidence. Then about 2 months ago we ate there again. We both got REALLY sick. I called and complained and because I was so sick I did not take down the name of the woman I spoke to. She said she had made a report and that someone would contact me but no one ever did. Sad, because my family loves eating at Lubys but after this experience I will never eat at any Luby’s ever again!

For us, this is a neighborhood restaurant. They have always been clean and offered a good affordable meal. As a stand by favorite we can have a relaxing hot meal of a wide variety of selections. We were there tonight and 3 busses arrived with about 150 high school kids and 15 staff. Luby’s must have set up an all you can eat special for the group. They moved the entire group through in about 20 minutes. Some of those kids had trays packed so high I could not see their faces. The group moving through did not shake up the staff one bit. They kept shoveling out the food. Shovel is not a good description since the presentation was still great. We were comfortable, the kids were comfortable and everything went smooth. Oh yes, our meal was great.

Had the best dressing tonight with grilled chicken. Chicken was seasoned perfect. Also had cabbage and it was better than mine. Well healthier because i use bacon grease. I love dressings and this hit the spot. Wanted to try the chicken fried steak, it looked awesome. Heck everything looked delish. Had the home cooked flavor without the over salting.

I recently relocated back to Fort Worth. Went to this Lubys and hoped for a good meal. Food was cold(really cold), undercooked and not cheap. $ 36 for two. The waiter offered to heat the food up. How far they’ve fallen. I will not returning. Don’t waste you time and hard earned money. Even one star is not deserved.

OMG, took my elderly mother there for lunch and the total was $ 39.63! She had fried fish that came with coleslaw, fries, hush puppies, plus a small green salad, and pecan pie. I had chicken fried steak, fried okra, pea salad, and cheesecake. She drank water and I had a soft drink. When the cashier gave me the total, I was visibly startled and asked her if the total was correct and she assured me that it was. The food was below par. The fish platter was ok according to Mom, but the crust on the chicken fried steak was soggy on the bottom from sitting on the steam table and the meat was tough and over cooked. The cheesecake could only be described as gummy. It appeared to be a «store bought» boxed cheesecake that had been thawed and a bit of under sweetened strawberry syrup poured on top. We had virtually the same meal yesterday at West Side Café, and the total was $ 18.46 and the food was excellent. No wonder Luby’s has closed so many locations.

Stopped in today for a lunch and had a wonderful experience. My seafood patty was hot and full of different types of seafood. My sides/veggies were seasoned perfectly and the jalapeño cornbread had just enough«zest» to be very tasty. Susan, the dining room attendant, kept everyone happy and was very friendly. I enjoy a wonderful relaxing lunch.

We have been here numerous times as my mom lives in the area and it is really slim pickings on eateries in the area. Overall the food is really good here and consistent. The only thing I do NOT like is when they have the all you can eat on Saturdays. The choices are VERY minimal for the main and side dishes and they serve the salads on a tiny plate with almost NO options for toppings. If you are getting a LouAnn platter or al la carte during all you can eat, it is not worth it. I guess if you plan to stuff yourself and don’t care what you eat, go on Saturday. Otherwise we will stick to the regular dinners and avoid the all you can eat Saturday madness.

They were closing when we landed Ft. Worth, and decided before we head downtown, that it was pass dinner time we haven’t had much to eat except snacks @ the airport. It was a ‘they serve buffet’ and if you’d like salad that’s extra $.69. The price for each? $ 7.99. There were were many hot dish, rice & potatoes, cooked spinach, corn, yam, desserts to choose from. I picked ¼th BBQ chicken, rice(I thought it was pilaf — it’s the only rice there, and corn bread. I thought the chicken was tender and had a nice smokey flavor. Hubby picked the meatloaf. The server asked him if he’d like tomato topping was delicious. Our salad was swimming with dressing, eaten half. The mash potatoes with cream & gravy were very tasty! My rice was Jalapeño and they were spicy. When the busgirl asked how our food was, I told her I didn’t know the rice had Jalapeño on them, and she brought me some mash potatoes — no charge. Even the corn bread but not a lot, I can handle that! We weren’t familiar with the Luby dishes, we’ve never been here before. When I asked the server, upon arrival, if we just help ourselves, he thought I was joking! I didn’t see any plates or trays, that’s why they serve us, and we tell them what we like. I think this was a good choice. They were closing when the busgirl brought me my mash potatoes, we were just lucky that we’re able to have dinner here, rather than Pancake House or Taco Bell — farther down the highway!

Luby’s is what it is: standard issue comfort food cafeteria chain. The parking lot had a lion’s share of Buicks, Lincolns and wheelchair vans but it wasn’t overly active for a Saturday afternoon. Dining area felt like the meeting room at an ailing Holiday Inn that’s far too inconveniently located from the airport to warrant interior updating. Nevertheless the floors were clean and it didn’t smell like a nursing home. Service is on par with other locations albeit somewhat disjointed at the serving line(nobody was manning the entrée station for about two minutes, the line wasn’t very long). I’m not a fan of their miniature salad in a bowl cup. No tomatoes? No red onions? It’s bad enough they sparsely fill however few spinach leaves & olives they can get away with. Then again this isn’t Souper Salad. This is Texas, where salads are appropriately frowned upon and laughed at. At least the salad girl was generous enough to interpret my request for«just a hint of Italian» by drenching my greens with what seemed half the bottle. Granted I wasn’t expecting much, but the chopped steak and grilled chicken were pretty decent, the fried okra was crispy. Spanish rice was drier than what I’m used to eating, cornbread was warm and crumbly. The pinto beans were totally heated straight from the can, but edible provided you’re in the mood for that«campfire» taste. In the end you realize you just had AYCE for under $ 8(sans beverage and dessert), so you can adjust that workhorse chair beneath you accordingly and continue enjoying that slightly overpriced sweet tea within your grasp.
