I love the ceviche! I’ve ordered it several places and theirs is the very best. The mangos make it so

Nice casual restaurant. chips and salsa nice and fresh. I had the mini Taco combination with the black bean tacos with beef taco and a chicken taco but my favorite was the side salad and the grilled veggies, full of flavor and fresh ingredients. Lunch time was a bit of a wait for food and check. Next time we will go earlier.

I met the owner and chef at a Toastmaster’s meeting on a Thursday. My wife and I went to dinner Friday evening. The food and service was excellent. I liked that I could order a main item and select from their sides. You get to design your own dinner. Their dishes are health. The salsa was great too.

I have had two dishes here. The chicken empanadas and the mini enchiladas. The empanadas were amazingly flavorful, super crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. The dipping accompaniment was also great. The black beans that came with my enchilada had great flavor but turned out a little salty towards the end. The chicken enchilada came with sour cream sauce but had a very mashed potato sauce taste. It was very earthy and yummy but definitely did not taste like any sourcream sauce I have had before. Oh! I almost forgot… the fried plantains that come with the empanadas… yummyyyyyy In all the food very delicious and the service very prompt.

Everything was awesome! I do not prefer tamales because usually it feels like someone chewed up the meat and put it in the tamale. Not these! These are awesome! Also had some mini tacos… fantastic!

I am so mad at myself for taking so long to try this place!!! We decided to try this place out, after passing it by for years. I am a regular at Rocco’s Pizza and Schezuan Chinese Palace, so I am frankly disappointed with myself for taking so long to try this little gem. When we first got there we were the only customers, so we truly didn’t know what to expect. And boy, were we so pleasantly surprised!!! First off, the place is small and so is the staff. This was a Saturday night and there was only one server and a hostess. Fortunately for us, it wasnt crowded so our server(Jenny) was very attentive. We ordered drinks and Jenny took our order, then proceeded to make them. The Mariposa Margarita and the Cucumber Cilantro Margarita were both top notch cocktails. I would definitely recommend to anyone. They were made exactly how I like them, strong and fresh. The menu is your typical selection of Mexican favs: enchiladas, tacos(and mini tacos), and tamales. With a ceviche and couple of salads tossed in for the«healthier» crowd. Wifey and I decided to get tacos. A taco combo plate consists of 2 tacos of choice, withe choice of rice(Spanish or Cuban), and choice of beans. Wifey ordered the pork taco & beef fajita taco w spanish rice & refried beans. I ordered a shredded beef taco, a fish taco and an extra roasted chicken taco with cuban rice & refried beans. From first bite, we both fell in love with the pork taco. She said the beef fajita taco was good as well, but the shredded beef was better. You can definitely taste the layers of flavor better in the pork & shredded beef tacos. The fish taco was very nice as well. It was actually presented beautifully, so I almost didnt want to eat the artwork before me. The only one I wouldn’t recommend would be the roasted chicken tacos. The flavor of the chicken was delish and very flavorful. The chicken was very tender, but it was very wet and heavy. The sauce drizzled over the chicken was way too much and completely soaked the tortilla and was very difficult to eat. Had it been a burrito, it probably would’ve executed perfectly. As far as the beans and rice go, I was pleasantly surprised. I typically don’t eat them when they are on my plate at other Mexican restaurants because they are normally treated as a flavorless afterthought. This was not the case this time. The Cuban rice is a black beans & rice mix, while the Spanish rice is a flavorful mix of rice & peppers & spice. If I had to choose which was better, I honestly couldn’t. I could see myself ordering just rice and beans for lunch. The refried beans could only be described as velvety. Not the heavy, fatty flavored mess you typically would get. I wanted more beans, but I was completely full after my meal. All in all, this was a very pleasant surprise. I will definitely be returning. What it’s lacking in size and staff is definitely made up for by the stellar food they are putting out. There are several other chain Mexican restaurants in the area, do yourself a favor and pass them by and just go to Mariposa’s!!!

Delicious dinner! I went here on a date recently after the wait at a nearby Mexican restaurant was too long. I am glad we did! It was very delicious. I got the shredded beef taco, which was very flavorful and then even better when I poured some of our queso on it. The Lita margarita was great, and I highly recommend it. My date got the chicken enchiladas with the cuban rice, which was great. I don’t even like rice and I kept stealing bites off of his plate. Service was good, and highly attentive. It took our waitress some time to get to our table, but others covered to make sure we got waters, chips and salsa etc.

FAVORITE salad in town is the Fiesta Salad! Super fresh and the dressing is so yummy. Pulled pork tacos were delicious too.

This was an unforgettable meal – very fresh, full of flavor. We started with the trio dip(queso, guacamole, and a Cuban dip), followed by roasted chicken and cheese enchiladas with Cuban rice and black beans. My husband had chicken fajita tacos. The colorful folds with red and yellow peppers flanked with green cilantro tasted even better than they teased. We ended with a huge butterfly(mariposa) sugar cookie. We will return!

Love, love, love! I had family in from out of town and we tried to get dinner at a popular Mexican restaurant down the street but they couldn’t even give us an estimate of when we’d be seated. I found Mariposa’s on Unilocal and called to see how soon they could seat our party of 15+. They told us to come on and they’d take care of us. We only waited 10 – 15 minutes after we got there to be seated. The food was delicious! They were even having dancing lessons going on so that was fun to watch. It’s a small restaurant but I like the atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back for date night with the hubby!

Some of the best tamales ever. Eating in is better then taking them to go. The beans are also really good. I can eat their food every day. Orders of a dozen tamales to go is available and are great for Christmas.

This place has great potential. However… There is only one waitress during the lunch rush, which makes this place absolutely unviable for those of us who have to get back to work in a timely manner. The food is well priced, but exceptionally salty. Everyone at my table also had the same opinion. I’m a little unsure how this place has such reviews for the experience we had. Maybe this was a fluke?

Where do I begin? My friend at work and I found this little spot a few years ago but just decided to give it a try last winter. We had heard how Mariposa’s Kitchen prided themselves on only using authentic ingredients and we were intrigued by that. We arrived to a quaint little restaurant with a bakery counter(yum). The hot sauce that greeted us is where we fell in love! We couldn’t get enough of it! I ordered the(seasonal) Bean Soup with Jalapeño Cornbread and a side salad with house dressing, and my friend ordered the Enchilada Soup with a side salad; both were fantastic(we shared each others’ soups)! The only two requests I have as a delighted customer would be: 1.) Set out LARGE salsa bowls at each table! and 2.) Make the Bean Soup with Jalapeño Cornbread YEARROUND!!! PLEASE!!! I’ve been craving it all summer!!!

It becomes evident that«Mariposa» in Spanish means Butterfly when you walk in. It doesn’t look like much on the outside, but it’s nicely decorated on the inside. Mariposa is another hidden gem off of Camp Bowie. It’s tucked away in a strip center with Rocco’s Pizza behind Mexican Inn. Mariposa’s is ran by mother and daughter, Crystal. Freshly made food with fresh ingredients. Mariposa’s started off as a catering company and they become popular so they opened up a restaurant. They have been there for 3 years! They have a very small menu. Mini tacos, tacos, enchiladas, tamales, ceviche, and salads. I ordered the mini tacos. One of each: Pork, Beef, and Roasted Chicken. The husband got Tacos. I don’t remember which ones, but I do remember the beef fajita being one of them. He said the beef was a little tough. We started off with the dip trio. It was queso, guacamole, and queso with cuban rice. I absolutely loved the queso with cuban rice. Just give me the cuban rice queso and I’ll be fine. The guacamole was really good too. The salsa is mild and limey. Don’t expect it to be spicy. Be warned, if you come here for the tacos these aren’t your normal tacos like in most restaurants here with soft flour tortillas. They fry their flour tortilla first. It’s more of a tostada type taco and is not easily folded over like a taco. I still enjoyed mine. They were really good, especially the pork. My husband and I talked to Crystal the daughter for nearly an hour after they closed for lunch. Really a nice family. They are not known for their tacos, which we figured because almost everyone there was eating an enchilada or a tamale. These tamales are HUGE. I’m walking to the bathroom looking at all the plates and I’m like wow, those tamales are gigantic! No wonder they are almost $ 10. Man, they looked so good though. Crystal said they want to have more Latin inspired dishes than Mexican inspired. She said starting in September(or soon, I could be wrong with the month) that they are going to choose a Latin American country and make the dish as a special. Every now and then they have a 4 course dinner special with Latin Ballroom dancing or Salsa dancing. How fun would that be? Also, during the holidays starting in November they make a turkey and dressing tamale with cranberry sauce on top and sweet potato soufflé on the side. At first I was like WHAT? The more I think about it the more I want one. I bet it’s awesome. Lol. Oh! Tamale classes. Every now and then they will offer Tamale making cooking classes. They give you the ingredients. YOU do everything, they just instruct you. Sounds fun as well. You just have to watch for all of the stuff they do/offer on their Facebook. Mariposa’s has the potential to be big. Such a sweet place and nice family. So, remember come from the Tamales and Enchiladas. The tacos are good, I’m just telling you what to go for since they are known for those two. Now that I say all that, I think it’s time I try a tamale to find out how good they are myself.

One of my coworkers brought me here for lunch and I absolutely fell in love! This place is tucked away — if it wasn’t for him, I would’ve never knew it existed! First off, the chips and salsa at Mariposa’s is really, really good — the salsa is super fresh and the chips are light, crispy and salty. Both of us ordered the Wednesday lunch special which was the ginger pork empanada plate. This plate came with 3 massive pork empanadas, cuban rice and plantains — it was AMAZING! Each empanada was full of moist, juicy shredded pork and served with a gingery gravy on the side which was a perfect compliment. The cuban rice was absolutely delicious… a little greasy but full of flavor! The plantains were good, as well but not the best that I’ve had. After stuffing ourselves — we gave in to the waiter’s suggestion of getting a dessert. We shared a mini cheesecake — perfect for two small decadent bites each. I definitely want to come and try dinner soon but for sure, this is going to be a regular lunch spot for me!

I really enjoyed the beauty and simplicity of this restaurant! Their décor is fresh and simple, their service was great, and their food was tasty. I got a free mini taco with my check-in(yessssssssssss!!) and it was delectable! I then ordered the pork tamale grande and attempted to eat the entire thing. That thing is absolutely massive. It was less of a tamale and more of a meat log — it was packed with delicious pork! I only got through half of it, needless to say, and was stuffed! I had a big of a tummy ache after eating this meal, which makes me give it only 3 stars. My friend, who had the same dish, also experienced the same thing. It could have been that we aren’t used to eating that much meat or something else. No one else had problems, though, which makes me hopeful that the next time I come to Mariposa’s I will have no problems whatsoever. I want to return and try some other menu items and get a better idea of what all this cute place has to offer!
