We stayed one night here. The room was OK except for when I checked my credit card statement they had charged me $ 100.00 for smoking in the room… except NEITHER of us smoke. We got in late and were tired and frustrated from driving around lost in Ft. Worth all day. All we wanted was to sleep it off. When we entered the room it smelled of stale smoke and the smoke detector was missing from the wall. Neither of us wanted to be a pain in the ass and just shrugged it off and went to sleep. Fast forward a few days later: I called the hotel and spoke with the manager about the charges — according to him since we didn’t complain there was nothing he could do about the charges and he said I was responsible for the smoke in the room. Not to mention that fact that we DONOTSMOKE. He proceeded to list of all the cleaning processes that they have to do for rooms that have been smoked in and how costly it is. Judging by that statement from the manager himself, they don’t clean the bed liens, curtains and carpets on a regular basis. THAT’S A REDFLAG! As the conversation continued he made it very clear someone had to pay for the cleaning and it was going to be me whether we smoked in the room or not — because we aren’t complainers. On my phone call with the manager I mentioned the smoke alarm missing from the wall to the manager — long story short he basically called me a liar and said he checked the room and it was there. Why would I lie about that?! Then later on asks me what was the room number. Wouldn’t you know that if you checked the room yourself? Then he insisted that I call him if I’m ever in town again and he can work a deal with me. No thanks, I wasn’t calling you to give you a pat on the back for taking my money for something I did not do. I was notified(voice mail) by the manager of this property that because of my bad experience, he would credit my account with $ 30.00 — approx. 38% of the bill total. While I appreciate his courteous tone and desire to make amends, I still will not stay at this hotel again. Had he refunded the entire bill and offered me a discount in the future, I would have reconsidered. However, failure to change the linens between guests is about as bad as it gets and merits more than partial compensation. I will stay elsewhere.
