Love this store. Customer service in cosmetics is wonderful, especially Jenny and Heather at the Chanel counter. Hayley upstairs is like having your own personal fashion consultant. And Sandra in the Zodiac Room(still call it The Hedges) is like a favorite aunt who has watched my daughter and her friends grow up. I’m looking forward to the new store opening as it will be closer to me and will hopefully carry more lines. Location and limited merchandise are the only problems I have with the current store.

I had great experience with Donna Graves. She had a customer but she apologize for the wait. I appreciate her acknowledgement. She assist me in purchasing a gift card. She even went in the back to find a box to gift wrap it for me. Thank you Donna for great service.

Neiman’s was way off their game in terms of service. Went into the store a few weeks before Christmas, looking for an item in the gifts department. Stopped first in clothing, and had to SEARCH for a salesclerk. So many times, I’d look around to find someone, and no-one was at the checkout. When I went up to someone who was working, I was ignored! twice. The salesclerks simply would not look up, even though I was standing directly in front of them. Went to gifts dept., could not find what I was looking for, asked for help and couldn’t get it. Right hand did not know what left hand was doing. Seemed to be a lot of miscommunication and I could tell the clerks themselves were frustrated, but didn’t seem to be able to correct the problem. Finally, I located the manager of the dept. and was helped then, but this took much longer and was far more trouble than it should have been. Items for sale were still beautiful, but the service was lacking. Probably will not go back.

**This review is regarding the Neiman Marcus bistro, The Zodiac** It almost hurts to write a review for the Zodiac with just an A-OK rating. Based on my visits every 3 – 4 months or so over the past 5 years, they would’ve definitely received a, «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» but my most recent visiting was my first ever slightly disappointing visit. My last visit before this one was in October, and everything was great then. Upon arriving today, everything was normal. The popovers were delicious as always, the strawberry butter to go along with them was amazing as always, and so was one of my favorite parts about the bistro; the chicken broth. I LOVETHATSTUFF. I ordered what I always order; Pasta with butter and parmesan cheese. Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Out of all the things you could order, you order a simple dish of pasta with cheese? I know, I know. But it’s literally the only thing I’ve ever gotten there, so of course I ordered it this time around. Mind you that I’ve been here about 15 – 20 times total, and all of those times the pasta has been PERFECT. Until today. The first thing I noticed when my food was brought out to me was that they no longer serve fruit as a side with the pasta. You just get the pasta. 5 months ago they still served fruit with it. But hey, whatever. That’s not a big deal. I also noticed that they baked the pasta which was also new. I was starving, so at this point I started to eat. I don’t know how exactly to describe this, but the pasta tasted off. VERY off. Rubbery almost. I don’t know what happened in the makings of my pasta, and I don’t even know how you can mess up pasta with cheese and butter, but something had gone haywire. So I tried to douse it in salt to see if that’d improve the flavor. It kind of masked the off taste… kinda. When I left, I also noted that this was the first time they did not give me those mint chocolate candies when paying. I don’t know whether its the fact that this store is going to be moving in less than 2 years and they’re just starting not to care or what. I was really really disappointed because this is one of my favorite restaurants. I didn’t say anything to the employees. I think this might be my last time ordering the pasta here. Maybe I’ll try something else next time around.

I got a blush from the beauty department, only to discover when I got home that they gave me a COMPLETELY different shade than what I’d asked for. I’ve been trying to contact someone in the beauty department for over an hour now, but no one has picked up. The operator at Neiman Marcus has been rude and has only answered twice, and immediately transfers me over to the beauty department, where no one has answered at all. I guess I’m going to have to drive FORTYMINUTES over to Neiman Marcus to change the blushes out in person… hope they’ll swap them; I wouldn’t know since I can’t get anyone on the phone!!! I’ve learned my lesson… I’m only shopping at Sephora from now on.

This review warrants two stars because the sales people in the handbag department is actually genuinely nice and willing to help. However, if you ever come in this store through the men’s department, like I usually do and dress as casually as I do, do not expect to get a greeting. at all. It’s like a different store when you walk into the handbag department, because they have the best, most helpful sales associates. In one particular visit, I walked in(through the men’s department) and looked a male salesman dead in the eye, I gave him a smile, only for him to look away and get back to doing his job — fixing the suits on the rack! I went about my business walking towards the handbags when behind me I heard the same doors open and the same salesman greet the guy behind me. I turned to look and the customer was an older gentleman in a polo shirt and shorts. Guess I didn’t dress for ‘the occasion?’ I let this go and went to the handbag section. On my way out, I saw a lady spraying samples of cologne(in the men’s department, again) and asking customers if they wanted to try it. As I walked towards her, she simply looked at me(again as I looked her dead in the eye) looked down, and then turned around as I pass right by her. What a bunch of snobbish sales people! Come on people, you are sales associates, you have one job… customer service! This is the only reason why I’d rather shop online, rather than walk in this store again. As for handbags, I decided to get a Louis Vuitton instead, rather than see these NM snobbish sales associates.

The people in cosmetics are awful. On Fashion Night, I waited for a Bobbi Brown makeover and was completely ignored. I asked and was ignored repeatedly. I decided to return in November, when there was less of a crowd. I am an extremely fair skinned black(Claudia Shaeffer and I wear the same color in Cover Girl) with green eyes and I was looking for a better foundation. A male pulled out all the dark colors he could find and the female finally said, «I think these are too dark». No joke, Sherlock. They said that they couldn’t help me find a color that matched my skin! Then Natasha, an extremely dark salesperson walked by. They shoo-ed me from Bobbi Brown over to Lancome and Natasha. She was great and $ 342 later, I had the makeover I wanted. I was disappointed though, that the original male and female felt that they couldn’t help me, but that someone who was a thousand shades darker and of the same ethnicity could. One should be able to do make-up for all and not make assumptions, especially since my coloring was closer to the white sales/make-up people. I don’t intend to return. In addition, the clothes stink. Maybe Northpark should ship some real clothes to Fort Worth.

During the holiday my limied visit at this particular Neiman Marcus is, ** Men’s Fragrance for Creed Santal(Poppie’s favorite cologne, and my biggest smell turn on! wink, wink :() and Designer Handbags(a «Diva» must-have-too). Joe and Ernest are two of the best salesmen in the mens department and really know their stuff when it comes to fashion, their attire speaks for itself. Always courteous and friendly. The ladies in fragrance aren’t stingy wih the samples either. This store has to be having a hellava sell for me to do some major shopping. I have never been a fan of any Neiman’s but I love the private showing party events.

This place is so ridiculously over priced and over rated. I can’t believe anyone would actually waste their money buying anything from this place. I don’t care what the clothes actually look like, there’s no way in hell I would be willing to pay 1,500 for a jacket. Yes, I actually saw that. If you are actually considering paying that much, go donate some money, don’t waste it on this crap.

I’m going to try to be as impartial about reviewing Neiman Marcus as possible(it’s certainly not my type of store). If you are interested(and hopefully financially able) for über fashion, then there are few places in the Fort Worth area that will satisfy that need like Neiman Marcus. For me, it’s fun to browse the store from time to time(it really is a beautiful store). Plus, I love to experience the actual art that they have displayed(printmaking techniques to contemporary pieces). Depending on who you are, you might experience a snobbish associate from time to time. But looking like I do(e.g. Old Navy /Zumiez), I have to say that most of the associates are actually friendly and will greet you on sight(they are people too, you know). Yes, the prices are extraordinary, but you’re talking about high fashion here so don’t be too shocked if you see a pair of shoes that are priced around $ 600.00. Honestly, it’s hard to recommend this place to everyone. But I say at least give them a look(and if you have a little extra money for lunch, check out their restaurant The Zodiac).
