WORSTPLACEEVER! On October 14, 2015 we checked into the Stay Express Hotel in Ft. Worth. The rooms were represented on their website as «remodeled», touting a heated pool, satellite TV, and high speed Internet. I had booked three rooms for myself, two daughters, and their children near the Ft. Worth Zoo. Turns out, THIS place was a zoo. After checking in, we found that the hotel was in TERRIBLE disrepair; the pool was closed off with«caution tape», was NOT clean, and was accessible only to the construction workers who had it blocked off. The Internet was not working in the rooms or the lobby, and the satellite service had been out for several days. These problems were known by the hotel staff, but not disclosed until we had checked in. The place was filthy, especially the carpets. The exterior door locks were disabled(for workmen?), and homeless people were seen sleeping in the halls.(The location is next to the freeway, so noise was also a problem). All this would rise only to the level of «terrible», except that the bathroom door in my daughter’s room had badly peeled veneer. The result was a serious gash in my beautiful 18-month-old grandson’s head. He now has a permanent 1-inch scar. That’s when I’d had enough and went to the front desk. The desk clerk kept me waiting for 20 minutes to speak with the manager, but the manager of the hotel never showed up. He eventually called the desk clerk on the phone, and said he was«too busy to speak with me», but said he would«comp» our room charges. We checked out. Quickly. I was unhappy(but not surprised) to see that $ 209.84 was nonetheless charged to my credit card. When I called the hotel to get the promised credit, the same desk clerk told me HE was the manager, but refused to give me his name. He then told me the manager was a «Mr. Patel», but he was(again) not available. The clerk then hung up on me. I have contacted the corporate office at Stay Express, but have not received a call back from corporate guest relations or from the hotel manager(whoever he really is). We did NOT receive what was promised(either at the time of the reservation, or after the disastrous stay). Stay here at your own risk!!! Horrible property, and even worse customer service. Property is not safe, and employees should be fired.
