Taste Latino, I think you may be confused as whether or not you are open or closed. A few months ago, I drove out there to find you closed. Your Facebook said you reopened with new owners. Just 6 days ago you said you were serving Colombian and Peruvian food. You would be serving Puerto Rican soon! 6 days ago… I love me some latin American food so I decided to drive out there and get a taste of Latino. I drove 40 minutes thanks to the traffic and only to find a «now open» sign with a for lease sign next to it. So are you open or closed? So where are you serving Colombian and Peruvian food? Cuz it ain’t here. With the traffic and construction it took 45 minutes! I could’ve drove my happy ass back to Irving to eat at Gipsy in 35 minutes. Just a tip: if you decide to reopen again consider a smarter location. A latin American restaurant next to a Mexican restaurant is probably your problem. MOST Texans will pick mexican over latin. /end of rant

Good concept! Menu contains specialties from different Latin countries which you do not see too often in the area. This is a newly opened eatery which has some potential. My experience however was not impressive… let me tell you — As we entered the place had a good ambiance, with a bar. We were serviced by a young lady who was polite(choose your own seating style). we ordered a couple of waters and tostones for our appetizers. It took a little while to get but they were fresh(a little long for appetizers being we were 1 of the 2 customers present). Main entrees — I personally ordered the Cuban Torta(Cubano Style) and this is what peeved me a bit… it was $ 12 for one thing but once I looked in it, It did not have the ham or cheese(or any sauce, kind of dry) in which its supposed to include based on menu. I went up to waitress to let her know, she apologized and mentioned to the kitchen crew. A few minutes later the waitress returned with a plate of ham and shredded cheese(so…you mean«I made my own sandwich??») I’ve had cubano sandwiches before, and this was definitely one of the least authentic. Overall, service was mediocre and food was okay, with slight adjustments they can succeed, but for now I may not be back for a while.

Forks down, the best, homemade authentic Venezuelan food in DFW. What really adds the icing to this review is the Venezuelan style lasagna — stellar! Don’t miss the tequenos — thin dough, crisped to perfection. I’ll be back this week. Speaking of icing… order the homemade coconut cake it’ll knock your socks off.

When I saw reviews for a new Latino restaurant that’s not the same ol’ same ol’ AND that’s a family-owned and operated place, I had to check it out. I’ve been for lunch twice so far, and have to say that the food I’ve tried was delicious. The first time I went, I had the Pabellon Criollo(Ropa Vieja) — $ 13.99. The menu lists this as ‘Venezuelan national dish shredded beef, white rice, black beans, fried sweet plaintains, sprinkled with salty cheese’. I don’t remember any cheese, but everything was darned tasty. I seemed to detect a liberal use of garlic(in a very good way) in the meat and beans. And speaking of beans, these are not your boring, flavorless beans you see at most places. These are ‘lick the bowl clean’ beans(I didn’t, but was temped). Anyway, my entire plate was almost spotless by the time I was done; the food was that good. The second time I ate here was with The Hubs. He ordered the dish I had the first time(and loved it), and I had the Hallaca — $ 10.95. This is described by the menu as ‘Venezuelan tamal filled with beef, chicken, pork, raisins, and olives topped with corn flour and wrapped in banana leaves. Served with salad’. Again, delicious! The tamal is larger than most of the ones usually seen around here and was packed with yumminess. The masa part of the tamal was incredibly tender and fairly thin(again, compared to a lot of tamales you see) with lots of filling. My server said that the salad that came with it was the Ensalada de Pollo(shredded chicken salad with potatoes, carrots, and peas). I was kinda expecting a green salad of some variety, but figured what the heck, I’ll try it. It was incredible. Reading the description on the menu, it’s probably not something I would have picked out and ordered on my own, but now that I’ve had it I wouldn’t hesitate. It’s almost like a cross between a chicken salad and a potato salad — with an undertone of mustard. It seemed like an unusual pairing with the tamal, but it was so good I didn’t care! Besides the dishes mentioned above, they have things like tostones, empanaditas, arepas, salads, various other beef and pork dishes(carne asada, pernil, etc.), fresh fruit smoothies, desserts, etc. There’s one dessert called ‘Bien Me Sabe’ that, if I’d known what it was then I would have made room for it. I looked it up after I got home and one site described it as ‘a delicious Venezuelan dessert — a rich coconut cake with layers of cream and meringue. The name translates to «tastes good to me». This cake is similar to tres leches cake in that it is served chilled and is extremely moist, sweet, and rich.’ Damn. I missed it. Maybe next time … The owner was super nice and friendly and is genuinely glad for your business. The food didn’t take too long to come out(thankfully, because I was starving both times when I got there) and was piping hot upon arrival. They have TVs in the restaurant, but the sound was off both times I was there and they were playing some lively Latin-style music. Thank you for that! I think they are planning to apply for a liquor license, but right now it’s BYOB. And, as a side note — clean bathroom(always a plus for the aging among us!). FYI, the main entrance to the restaurant is around the back(i.e. not facing N Tarrant Pkwy) and it seems to be the case for most of the other businesses in this business center.

Wow! What a gem in the middle of the metroplex! Close from everywhere, the food was great! Lot of choices from Latin America, tequeños are the best for the kids! Will be coming more often! Great atmosphere, great service! I really liked that I was able to order a soursop juice! Which is hard to find. And is good for the health.
