The Spice & Tea Exchange

If you’ve never been to Fort Worth, then you have to visit The Stockyards. And if you’re visiting The Stockyards, then you have to stop in at this place for all your spices, salts, teas, etc. needs. If you can use it to add flavor to something you’re cooking, they have you covered.
There’s an entire section of custom blends of spices, and they all smell delicious. The teas are also fantastic, and I walked out with a bag of Turmeric & Ginger. The staff knows everything about the spices they carry. One person spent five minutes explaining the different kinds of salt they had (an entire section of a wall) and what you can use them for. I had no idea there was such a variety of salt!
They have online shopping, so, even if you don’t live in Fort Worth, you can get their spices and teas delivered.

The aroma in this place is wonderful. So much, so little time. Got some teas and spices and this way cool salt/​pepper mill — Fletcher’s Pump and Grind. The mill is amazing and you only need one hand to operate. The sales lady was very helpful. I recommend this place to everyone who enjoys a good cup tea and likes to experiment in the kitchen.

We popped into The Spice & Tea Exchange mostly to warm up on a chilly February visit to the Stockyards. But we spent more time smelling and tasting products here than we did watching the cattle drives! I’m reasonably sure I singed my nostrils, sniffing every product available.
Even thought the word Tea is in the name of the shop, I was mostly intrigued by the huge selection of smoked and infused salts. I purchased 4 different baggies of wood-​smoked salts, my favorite being a soft but pungent Chardonnay Oak smoked sea salt. We also snagged a few bags of flavored sugar as gifts to bring home. My favorite was the Habanero Sugar, which left my tongue on fire after sampling only a few grains of the sugar! So unusual!
While I’ve seen some complaints about steep pricing, this is obviously a specialty boutique where I would expect to pay a bit more, not only for the experience of getting to smell and taste the unique products before buying, but also because of the quality and out-​of-​the-​norm nature of what you are getting. The staff encouraged us to really experience the products before we made our selections, and we felt completely comfortable and welcome in the store. And even though we initially just wanted to warm up for a few minutes, we ended up taking advantage of their Buy 6 Bags, Get 1 Free deal and taking home a selection of our favorites.
I was also thrilled to learn that they are a chain, and that there is one store in Ohio, which is about 10 minutes from my office! So when I run out of my new fun little salts or need a unique present for some of my foodie friends, I’ll be able to run right down the road. Definitely worth a visit while you are at the Stockyards!

Cute little shop priced (high) as you would expect for a tourist spot like the Stockyards. The woman working was very nice and explained what all they sold when I walked in. To be honest, I was expecting a larger selection of custom teas.

Most amazing rubs and spices! My boyfriend and I stopped in for a quick look around and couldn’t resist buying a small bag of their Backwoods Hickory Rub. Grabbed some steak filets on the way home and grilled them that night and OH. MY. GOODNESS. Maybe the best steaks I’ve ever had. We put the leftover rub on some corn cobbs and grilled those too — phenomenal. Visiting their store in Grapevine today!

I’m a local and I LOVE this place. Find something new each time, always inspiration to try new things without having to commit to large quantities. They even sell complimentary items if you need, like tea strainers. The owners are very friendly and helpful, as is the rest of the staff. Though it may be a franchise, the spices are made in-​store with obvious care. I try to drop in every couple of months for myself and typically come by to purchase a unique spice for any visitors we have.

This place was pretty cool. I liked how everything looked inside. It was cool seeing all the different spices and teas in jars. There was soooo much to choose from. The girl working there was very nice and helpful. I do not cook with spices too much but I do drink tea. It was a bit pricy but I would prefer to get tea from here over Teavana. They are so pushy at those stores.

Saw one of these shops on Pier 39 in San Francisco and didn’t know it was a small national chain that seems to be only in tourist areas of the US. There are two in Texas, the other being in Grapevine.
When walking through the door we were overpowered by the aroma of everything. If you have never smelled everything at the same time, there’s no way to describe it.
Picked up some Alderwood smoked salt (while the chocolate, bacon and pinot noir looked tempting, not sure how I would cook with them), Spicy Spanish Smoked Paprika and Smoked Black Pepper.
It’s not cheap but being premium seasonings you don’t need to use much at all. A friend that owns a Michelin rated steak house that applewood smokes his own salt (they have it too) told me that is the secret of his success.
Wish they had these stores in larger towns.

Wonderful selection of yummy teas and fragrant spices. And tasty salts as well. Slightly pricy but worth it. One star lost as staff could have been more helpful and attentive.

My mother loves the Coconut Oolong tea here, and so I came in earlier today to pick up a few bags for her birthday. I’ve never been to this location before.
The good:
It’s a pretty store, and the shelves are full of teas, spices, and tea-​and-​spice-​related knick-​knacks. I don’t know much about spices, but they have an interesting selection of teas — aside from the Coconut Oolong, we bought a bag of Blueberry Black Tea to try. There are even seasonal «holiday» tea blends like Pumpkin Caramel.
The bad:
I assume the staff was pretty tired, with it being Black Friday and all. We weren’t really attended in any sense until we went to ring up our purchase. We weren’t greeted when we came in, and no one offered help at any point. The store wasn’t full at all, but I’ll stop complaining — I’ve never worked a Black Friday retail shift, and other reviews all mention helpful service.
As other reviews touch upon, prices aren’t low. We paid $ 5.29 for each ounce of tea.

Even thou in a tourist area I loved this place. As much as I love to cook so many varieties of salts, and spices.
If you want a sample to know the flavors just ask and the staff is very helpful. The prices are so/​so nothing to brag about or feel your being taken you are paying for what you are getting. Look forward to ordering more stuff on line.

Whatever I get here it is always perfection. The staff is so helpful and their custom mixes turn the boring into fabulous. I highly recommend shopping here for yourself as well as gifts for your favorite foodie!
