I’m not in this area often, but I always try to stop at Kome for some rolls. This place never disappoints!

I live near China Town, and it’s still hard to find legit sushi that fills you up and doesn’t require a down payment. Can’t wait to visit again!

Probably ordered the wrong things, but not a sushi person. Ordered the dinner specials(bento boxes) had the Ginger beef and fried chicken. Both were dry and bland. Veggies and salad were good. Service just ok, but was with a large group.

For a Japanese restaurant that is literally the only one in the city, and maybe even a 50-mile radius, this place is good so I’m giving it a 4-star rating. Compared to places in SF, this place would be average at best. Please do not mistake the 4-star rating for an authentic Japanese food experience; this place is definitely very Americanized. It’s a restaurant that you can tell is trying come off as more Asian than it really is haha The restaurant is very big and has lots of space — maybe a little too much space? I believe in addition to regular table seating, they have a sushi bar/alcohol bar area in a small room too. The service was really great, everyone was really friendly. We were seated right next to the window so lots of sunlight coming in. If not, the restaurant probably would’ve been pretty dim. We had 3 nigiri — hamachi, albacore and scallop. They were all pretty fresh and the pieces were quite big, but not in the bad way! They don’t do anything really special to the nigiri(no marinades or sauces). I really liked the scallop nigiri — it was not the usual fish-over-rice type, but they diced the scallop, put it on top of rice and then wrapped it with seaweed(see pic!) We also had 2 rolls, one was a daily special one and the other was the Titanic Roll, I think. The rolls were also good — good combination of ingredients and sauces. Again, this is the only sushi restaurant in the area and for that, it’s pretty good. If you’re in the area and you’re craving sushi, I’d definitely recommend Kome.

Atmosphere is depressing. Dark and cold with that Asian violin in the back ground makes u think ur dieing a samurais death. Never have had a roll that woudlnt fall apart on me until today. Fish was fresh and buttery.(Sashimi) Particles of something floating in my water. With that said. Friendly staff with decent sushi. Nothing ground breaking.

Hands down the best sushi in Humboldt as well as nice service. I’ll definitely be back for more dragon rolls.

I went for lunch and I was super not impressed. I got there about noon and only a few tables, 2 servers who were really nice and on point… but I was there almost an hour? Service was great but slow for the food, and the rolls I ordered were mediocre or wrong. sloppy looking.

I don’t know if I’ve been spoiled from authentic sushi places in the bay area, or if I have high standards in general, but this experience wasn’t the best. Though, I suppose that it was good for the area. The fish itself was okay; better than grocery store sushi. I was surprised that they charged for miso as it’s customary for miso soup to be complimentary with any order in most sushi places– this was the first one I’d been to that charged. The server did seem a bit irritable and exasperated when I asked for more water, but that wasn’t the unpleasant part. The unpleasant part was how quickly the food was brought out and how rushed we felt. From experience, sushi that takes longer to prepare means higher quality. Also within two minutes of sitting down the server asked us what we wanted and we hadn’t even gotten a chance to open the menus. Fortuna seems to love Kome, but I wasn’t impressed. I may just stick with take out.

Peaceful dining room, nice service. The SPECIAL on the board is the way to go! Busu Giri is like Hawaiian poke, big pile of great sashimi tuna, yummm. Then the special roll is the Korobi roll. Really great flavor combo, fresh. nice little list of sakis. The only very minor sad point for me was hot green tea came in a mug with a tea bag. I prefer Japanese teapots with little cups.

I think this is the most disorganized sloppy sushi I have had here. The Chinese just don’t understand the Japanese dedication to the cut, style, and presentation of a perfect plate. The little soy cups for mixing came all three with dishwater still in them. lack of the study and care of the culture that is sushi, yet one step up from the all u can eat Chinese and sushi down the street.

I was quite surprised that this place was as good as it was. Everything we had was outstanding. My favorite was the spicy tuna handroll. The service was great. This place is as good as the best sushi bars out there.

Our go-to place for lunch when we are in Fortuna and one of our favorite local sushi restaurants. They quality and service never disappoints. I get the grilled salmon box lunch and a veggie roll. The atmosphere is very clean and pristine. We love going here.

Learned to love this place. The best Humboldt has to offer. Sweet employees are always knowledgable(which is huge with my gluten allergy– they even give you gf soy sauce upon request!). You can order ANY roll tempura, my fiancé does this. Very quiet atmosphere. Great Stash brand tea(Starbucks) served with extra hot water in a little thermos cup-thing.

Might give this a five star if I believed in perfection. My recent experience was excellent. I did have a slight wait to be seated but we came at an odd hour(2:15PM). The architecture, décor, cleanliness, the serving dishes, the furniture, the entire ambience was Japanese. The food was fresh and excellent. If you enjoy Japanese give them a try. Very impressive for the little town of Fortuna.

Best sushi ever! I’ve eaten sushi everywhere in California and maybe it’s because I love salmon but this place is the best sushi I’ve ever had from Orange County to Humboldt this place is worth the out of the way location. I will Make the drive and love every dish.
