Stones trees and vets Spears Cemetery is a graveyard of about 500 graves. The oldest I could find was from about 1800 but there were some very ancient looking stones that were worn down to almost nothing and no longer readable. The newest graves were right up to the present. The cemetery is in a lovely location, surrounded by woods and peaceful and quiet. It’s has a cool stone wall and an interesting sort of gate that looks like someone made it on the spot or in their backyard. Another old cemetery is across the street and lot of flowers and plants give the graveyard a very pleasant feel. Many of the memorials are from the late 19th century and it looks like many Civil War vets are resting here. Spears Cemetery is also known as Rhode Island Historical Cemetery No 60 and is well maintained and still visited by the living. A pleasant and peaceful place to spend eternity.
