Best Chinese food I’ve ever ate in OC! I love the sizzling soup and tend to try something new every time I go and I’m not disappointed. The service is not that great but the food makes it worth the visit. Highly recommend!

I’ve been eating at Fu Wing Low since they opened and it’s my go to place for excellent Chinese food. I love the atmosphere, the people and — oh my gosh! — the food! This is not Chinese fast food — each dish has it’s unique flavor. It’s hard to decide what to choose — too many favorites. Try the Tomato Beef or Beef Chow Fun with Black Bean Sauce. The Steamed Fish is amazing. Almond Chicken is a classic. I like to go with a bunch of friends so we can order a lot of different items and have a bit of everything. I’ve even had my husband pick up their Wor Wonton soup when I had a cold — it may not heal, but it does comfort. Kenny, one of the original owners, knew everyone’s name and was the cheerful face of Fu Wing Low. I’m so happy that his nephew David has taken over that position so Kenny could retire after his many years. Fu Wing Low continues to be my favorite Chinese restaurant — keep it up David!

Dear David, I was honestly looking forward to having dinner at your establishment tonight, I’ve been coming to your Resturant for the last 35 years. I’m really sorry about Ken being sick, and I expected the food quality to be the same since you’ve worked with him for a long time, unfortunately my wife found a hair in her Cashew Nut Plate and I saw one of the kitchen workers with no hair net. The Chicken Chow Mein was unappetizing, and it seems like recipes have changed since Ken has left. The fried rice was very unappetizing and the meat was hard and chewy. The only dish that I liked was the mushi. I feel like the Resturant is understaffed, my wife and I tried to catch the waiters eye repeatedly, we finally got his attention after 5 or 6 tries. I asked him for a large white rice to go and he brought me a small package about 2″ by 2″ and I asked him again for a large but got me the same thing, I asked again but he got me something slightly bigger, finally got me the size I was looking for. David when I used to come to your restaurant when Ken was there I ate every grain of rice, but this time I left half the plates I ordered, I couldn’t eat it, to tell you the truth I was looking forward to enjoying the fortune cookie and almond cookie served after the meal with a glass of water to wash everything down, finally I really hope you take my comments to heart and do dramatic changes, Because I would like to continue to be your loyal customer, otherwise you’re going to lose me for good. Running restaurants takes passion, please show your passion to this industry so your customers could feel that and keep coming back to eat at your establishment. Good luck David.

Had not been there in some time after moving a little further away, and wondered why we didn’t remember how great the food was. We should have come back sooner, for sure. Honey Walnut Shrimp, Roasted Duck and Moo Shu Pork are excellent!

This place looks so deceiving from the outside. I actually hesitated to go in, but i was desperate for chinese food. I walked in, and it’s night and day. What’s even better? It’s was busy! That usually lets me know that it’s good. Based on conversations, a lot of them were regulars. They have a lunch combo menu. You pick your entrée from A-B-C, usually a $ 1 difference, and it comes with a soup, an egg roll, and your choice of fried rice or steamed rice. I had the chick pea with beef, and goodness, it was GOOOODDD! Service was great. The servers was super friendly, and I was happy. Probably the best chinese food in OC. I will come back here again.

We had an excellent experience at this restaurant! Even though there was a large party there, we were seated quickly, given beverages almost immediately and our waiter helped steer us to the best way to order and get additional items. The food was freshly made, plentiful and really delicious. And, there was enough left over for lunch tomorrow! It’s in an old strip mall and isn’t fancy inside, but well worth patronizing for the food and excellent service!

It had been awhile since we had been there but it’s still great. The orange chicken was good and we also shared a noodle dish that was like chow fun but thinner noodles. Service was good. Nothing fancy just reliably good Chinese and you can’t argue with that

Best place ever! Worth the wait. Been going here for over 19 years! Our family loves it and everyone we have ever brought there has fallen in love with it! Thank you

Their food is slightly above average but too pricey to justify the difference in taste; tastes pretty good but not delicious enough to give it 4 stars, so I gave it 3. I would certainly return here when my wallet has more cash in it. To put things into perspective, they charge 6 bucks for a large portion of steamed rice. 6 bucks will almost cover the cost of an entire lunch special at most Chinese restaurants.

What is up with the four stars??? First time ever that I went to a Unilocal rated 4 star restaurant but it sucked! Service was poor and meat tasted like it had been sitting out all day. Never again!

I was pleasantly surprised when we tried this place last weekend. The strip mall it’s in needs to be updated and the store front is very unassuming. You walk in and its a typical Chinese restaurant. It’s smaller than I imagined but the décor was a little dated and worn but it was clean. The staff seem to be a family, which was cool. We ordered chow fun and almond chicken for entrees. We also ordered pot stickers as an appetizer which was okay. The chow fun and almond chicken were really good. The service was great. Overall, I was a fan. I know some of my Unilocal friends might not agree, but I’ll go back and check out other dishes. Plus I really like supporting family owned places.

My dad is so thrifty, that he would eat food that’s been left out for days. It should speak volumes when my dad refuses to eat Fu Wing Low’s leftovers the night I brought it home. There are many mysteries in life and the high Unilocal rating for FWL is one of them. —-The Food — - Kung Pao Chicken($ 8.95) — What I dislke most in this world is chewing on meat and finding tiny bones and ligaments. It instantly makes me lose my appetite. This occured more than a couple times when I was picking at this dish. Outside of that, the taste was bland, similarly to the presentation of the whole plate. This dish was supplemented with peanuts and cuts of celery. Sweet and Sour Pork($ 9.50) — Extremely tendonous pork chunks that are fried in batter and drizzled with a funky tasting sweet/sour sauce. Hate to say it, but this dish turns me off to sweet and sour pork for an indeterminate time. Served with bell peppers and a sprinkling of sesame seeds. Honey Walnut Shrimp($ 12.00) — The most memorably positive thing about this establishment is the shrimp. Good, but not the best. While eating this, I began to wonder if the high Unilocal ratings were due to this dish alone. They don’t use mayonnaise here, which is a plus. Instead they use a honey glaze and pan fry it to give it a nice crispy texture. Hot & Sour Soup($ 7.25) — Composed of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, carrots, and beef broth. While the viscosity of the soup is well-done, the taste was too sour for me. —– Conclusion: Abysmal. I don’t like to use that word, but I feel it’s fitting for my two experiences here. My dad, foodie friend, and I all agree, we’d rather have Panda Express instead. Come on Unilocal?!A near perfect rating? «I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!” — Zoolander Extra Notes –Accepts credit card –Closed on Monday –Décor is a little aged and drabby –Service was attentive, but could be more friendly –Parking can be crowded at lunch –Restroom available

This place is truly a hidden gem. It’s exterior is very unassuming and not necessarily too inviting but once inside, this place provides a great restaurant experience. On my most recent visit, I called in to place an order and visited the restaurant to pick it up. The interior isn’t too big but it’s very neat and tidy. It is definitely apparent that they make a point of keeping the place up. As for the wait staff, they were friendly and immediately acknowledged me and brought out my food. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and the orange chicken lunch special. The shrimp fried rice has so much flavor and they throw in a lot of shrimp. It is definitely one of the best shrimp fried rice dishes that I’ve ever had. All the vegetables taste fresh and straight out of the wok. The orange chicken was so fresh and the sauce was really good. The chicken was quality meat. If you’re used to Panda Express or other fast food Chinese places whose orange chicken makes you wonder whether or not you’re even eating chicken, this dish will be quite refreshing. The pieces are huge and the chicken is very much real. The lunch special also comes with a side of rice, egg roll and soup. Whenever I’m in this area for work, I look forward to having some Chinese from Fu Wing Lo for lunch. Great service and excellent, affordable food.

Love this place, I’ve been coming here since my friends step-dad recommended it, he had gone there since he was a kid!(30+years) the food is fantastic, it’s a hidden gem for sure. Tucked back in a corner of an old strip mall, you have to know what you are looking for to find it. My favorites are their honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken and egg rolls(comes in 4 piece per order but they are thick and filling, one is enough per person) Con: It is a small mom and pop type place and we visited at 6:30 on a Friday it was full and took a little bit of time, heads up, be prepared to wait a little.

«Fu Wing Low» hmm, so I love aviation and there is actually a term called, «Wing Low» aka«Flying Wing Low». I firmly believe a subliminal message made me eat here. Currently carrying a 4.5 Star power I expected greatness, but scanned reviews and sensed I would be late to the party again! This name keeps popping up? Kenny, I’m guessing he was a good cook and charismatic person. He recently retired, but his sister Diane, her husband, and son still work there. It is a real homey feel there. On the other hand you have high prices for sub quality food except the occasional above average item. Disclaimer: at this point the review is mainly because it’s misleading to be a 4.5 star. Also based on my limited exposure to their dishes. I did order a 2– person dinner«set menu», and chinese mixed vegetables to go that I haven’t even looked at yet! Kinda afraid to. Cons: Dim lighting during the day. The long hallway to the restrooms are visible to the rear facing booths. Fried foods not cooked at correct temp and come out sopping with oil. Chinese AYCE is a better deal. Prices not in line with the product. Pros: Yester-dine quality is high Down home family feel. Problems can easily be fixed with a good chef. Laid back atmosphere(was there when it wasn’t very busy). I left with a feeling like I wanted this family business to succeed for another 40 years and they just might do that!
