I had the moo goo gai pan and my boyfriend had the orange chicken. We ordered the dinner specials so the meals included soup, egg rolls and foil wrapped chicken. We opted for the fried rice with our combo there was no up charge. Both of our meals were pretty good and we would come back here again. The service was very friendly and prompt.

Lunch specials are affordable and great deal during the week. They all come with rice and soup. The complimentary soup appetizer is quite tasty and filling in of itself. I wouldn’t mind having a couple bowls of this soup by itself. I really enjoy the salt & spicy pork chop(jiao yan pai gu) and have yet to find any other place which serves this savory dish correctly.

The dishes were good. Staff, except for the manager with the glasses is extremely rude. I came with a party of 9. Me being one of the 1st to arrive at the table. No a single word and with a very unpleasant look as the manager directed me to the table. After the other’s arrived, his attitude changes 180 degrees as one of the member apparently leaves decent tips. No wonder this place is dead considering other surrounding establishments are full on a Sunday evening.

Many years later, still the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to. I’ve eaten everywhere on the North American west coast.

Coming from the east coast, this is one of the more American Chinese Restaurants in Orange County. Which is a good thing. The sliced chicken was real breast meat. Not the chunky stringy meat some places serve. The flavors were wonderful. I would have like more vegetables. The crowd was mixed and relaxed. They serve the most wonderful flavored hot tea. At no charge. The one thing I didn’t care for was the soup. We went at lunch and we didn’t get a choice of soup. I also would have liked a little more details on the menu as far as what ingredients were in each dish. The staff was very engaging and helpful.

I’ve been coming here for years with my family and will continue to do so as long as they continue to keep serving food at the quality they’ve been serving. There just aren’t very many quality Chinese restaurants in the HB area, so we take what we can get here. To be fair, I am reviewing this restaurant in the context of a Chinese person who has been eating Chinese food my entire life. We ordered several dishes for my family including Mongolian Beef, Cashew Shrimp, the Spicy Fish Filets, and some others that can’t remember. The food here can vary depending on what you get and who is cooking. I’ve had food here that is delicious and some others that are almost inedible. It’s inconsistent. Sometimes the dishes are too sweet, other times too salty, and other times just right. If you’re in the mood for Chinese food and don’t want to drive down to Irvine then this place will likely hit the spot for you. Sit down and prepare for your craving to be satisfied, but don’t expect to be blown away.

We arrived Friday around 7 pm the place was almost empty! We had the Duck which was quite good. The spring rolls looked and tasted like frozen Costco! Orange chicken looked and tasted like it had come out of a box. We had not eaten here for about two years and we have no intention of going back. What a shame.

I totally agree with Ashley S. from Glendale and Allen X. from HB. This place is going downhill. Water is served in cheap plastic glasses. The steam rice looks and tastes like leftover from the day before. The owners came from Irvine where they had an unsuccessful restaurant and opened this place probably 10 — 15 years ago. It was very good when they first opened but now everything is substandard, from the service to the food. Time for them to move on to something new or just retire. SAD.

It’s literally my favorite Chinese restaurant. I am disappointed in Chinese everywhere else. The sautéed shrimp is so good and so is the fish filet, chicken with bamboo shoots and mushrooms, sweet and sour pork, which I normally can’t stand anywhere else… it’s all pork, not just bread, their soup dumplings are awesome too and cashew chicken, basically everything is yummy here. My parents from Taiwan loved it too so it’s legit! It’s clean and the ambiance is great!

Maybe they serve white folks different food than Chinese folks. Not sure but the wonton soup tasted like WATER with frozen shrimp and chicken floating in it. The eggrolls had NOFLAVOR at all and the cashew chicken was just okay. Swanson frozen dinners could have done better. Such a disappointment. The food here used to be good.

Good food but slow service… Third time at this hidden gem for good tasting food… The food deserves four stars but the slow service brought it down to 3 stars … Again great food but the service way to slow… The third time there I walked out with my family after waiting for fifteen mins for the waiter. It seems to be understaff, well at least the times I have been there.

I am a big fan of Chinese food but this review isn’t biased because of my taste buds :) I started going to this place after I start working with Hyundai as this is just 2 blocks away from my work, Any Chinese/Thai/Indian place have 2 type of dishes, Trap dishes and Authentic dishes Trap dishes are more to cater western ppl as they are more flavored and cusotmed as per customer taste buds, I would say that Chicken Cashew, Kung pao, Chciken wings are the best example of such dishes whereas authentic dishes keeps the original flavors intact and usually liked by limited number of people but I believe this place do keep some things same way like beef dishes, Onion pancakes And lunch special comes with soups and hot tea and portions of dishes are of good size as well Overall good place to go, Surely recommended for lunches !!!

It just wasn’t good Chinese food. I remember eating the green onion pancake and sweet and sour soup and thinking to myself how much I wasn’t enjoying eating them. The only dish I remember liking was the beef noodle soup. Honestly, I’m sure you could find a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant that tastes better than this place, but I must say– this place is good for large groups.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants and a favorite with coworkers and department lunches. My favorite dishes are: Cashew Chicken, Ma Po Tofu, Onion Pancakes, and Salt and Pepper Pork Chops. On cold days, I get the House Special Noodle Soup. It has so much meat and seafood, you can feed two people. Dinner menu is more and a la carte. Lunch menu includes soup and dessert. The servers are very fast and friendly. They will suggest dishes for you based on your tastes. This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Fountain Valley.

We tried this place for the first time on a Sunday afternoon– we were pleasantly surprised by how clean and nice the staff was. We had the combination fried rice, chow mien, pepper steak and dumplings. Everything was really good! We couldn’t get over how much flavor the fried rice had. The pepper steak had a star next to it so it was supposed to be spicy but wasn’t so if you like spicy be sure to tell them to add extra spice. A great restaurant we will defiantly be back!

Since I have never been to China, I don’t know about authentic Chinese food. So far I have only been to countless Euro-Asia restaurants. Compared to them, this place definitely stands out from the mass. Unlike many asian restaurants Mandarin is actually run by chinese owners. We arrived in afternoon just when the lunch deal officially ended, but where still invited to order a three course business meal by the friendly owners. We ordered one two course meal and a three course meal. We could chose from different soups or spring rolls. I had the egg drop soup, which was excellent. My companion had the veggie chow mien, which was large, made there(not one of the those ones) and tasty. For main courses we had fish filet made spicy; and fried duck. Each main dish came with rice(fried or steamed), both were large portions and very tasty. As dessert we got a complimentary jello which was very tasty, not large but good to share. The interior of the restaurant is kitschy Chinese with many little, funny details such as no-smoking or watch-your-step-signs in Chinese. Don’t expect one of these trendy slick Asian places, expect a stereotypical Chinese restaurant, that will make you forget you are in the heart of Jerusalem, just minutes from the Old City. The place is open seven days a week. 11:30 am to 2:00 pm close for dinner prep then open again at 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Staff is friendly, there is plenty of place. Absolute recommendation. YES!!!

My coworkers and I decided to order from this place after trying other restaurants around orange coast hospital and we got this containers with small portion of food and cost $ 13.95 each! So just watch out guys if you’re thinking of a good amount of lunch meal these picture of food here cost us $ 89!!! I called the owner and he said it’s dinner a la cart but still for people who are used to ordering take outs, there’s a lot better restaurant out there who gives at least soy sauce and hot aauce on the side!

Excellent family-style Chinese restaurant. Seating is spacious and the dining area is very clean. Here’s what we ordered(for 10 people): –Peking Duck: The duck was delicious and tender, and the sauce it comes with is really good! –Pepper Fish Fillet: Probably my favorite! It’s crispy and flavorful. –Steak with black pepper: Decent, but nothing noteworthy. –Beef with Chinese mushroom and bamboo shoots: Meat was kind of tough. –Bean Skin with mustard green: Might not be for everyone, but I love this dish. –Tofu in brown sauce: Ok, but I wouldn’t get it again. –Hot and sour soup: Their hot and sour soup is great, and one order yielded 9 bowls. –Egg drop soup: While the traditional egg drop soup is plain, this one has vegetables and some protein(shrimp?) in it. –Pork chow mien: Noodles tasted great! Not overly greasy/heavy. Their food portions are generous, and they don’t heap on the oil like other Chinese restaurants do. Look no further for tasty, good quality Chinese food!
