Have been renting gear from micworks for about 2 years now and I’ve had nothing but a killer experience there! I’ve rented mics and pres, in other cases I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on. The staff there have always been nothing but helpful in making sure I’m set up right for sessions. Love micworks, and they’ll always have me as a loyal customer.

I have been renting equipment from Micworks off and on for almost 10 years. The owner Mike is the nicest guy and has always been willing to take the extra time to help and advise me with questions I have. They have a great selection of rental gear and, Quan, who handles rentals is incredibly knowledgable. I can easily recommend Micworks for any AV needs you may have.

I am the owner of The OC Recording Company in Santa Ana. This month we are celebrating our 10 year anniversary! Micworks has been there for us every step of the way. When I was just starting out the owner Mike and salesman Kirk really took me under their wings and took the time to teach me things that have been invaluable to me as I built my studio business. Their services are top notch and they know professional audio inside and out. Whether its renting or buying professional audio equipment from them, I know I will always receive the best gear for the job at the best price in a timely professional manner. I am apart of a volunteer organization in Long Beach which has been coming to Micworks for our bi-annual speaker/pa rentals. Sadly this will be the last. 1. Two weeks prior to the event I called to reserve the equipment and was forwarded to a voicemail. I left a detailed message and let him know which organization I was from. No call back and the following week I had to contact Micworks again. 2. While on the phone the salesman was rude and not helpful whatsoever. I tried to give him more information about the organization I was with so that he could look up past orders. Still same attitude. 3. The day of the pick-up the gentlemen working(all same guy) acted confused and blamed his lack of preparedness on a «notification» on his computer not alerting him… Soooo while I waited for the gentlemen to organize our rental, he rudely walked me through the set-up while I tried to small talk with him. Through this I found out that this is their 4th or 5th location from moving around. Poor customer could be the reason… 4. Today when I dropped off the equipment the same guy gave me his same attitude because there was condensation on one piece of equipment. I let him know that immediately when it started to briefly sprinkle the previous night, I took down the equipment because I know how much it costs. His replies were«it looks like it rained on it» «was this stored in a car»… I understand the equipment is pricey, but maybe ask how the event went and act like you care about your repeat customers. This was my last straw with the guy and I told him that he didn’t have to be rude. My organization has been coming to him for years and 3 previous times of his arrogant attitude is not appreciated. I hope he reads this and understands that this is money out the door.

So… About three weeks ago I called to make a reservation for two Neumann U87 microphones for thanksgiving weekend. I specifically asked the lady on the phone(which I now regret not asking for her name) if they were going to be open Friday the 28th of November because I had a recording session that weekend. This recording session was planned about a month in advance. As soon as I knew what I needed I called to make sure it would be available. I was reassured that they would be open. I made a 45 minute drive to Fountain Valley only to find an empty parking lot with a sign on the door stating they would be closed from Thursday to Monday. I knocked on the door and even called their phone number. I left a message asking for someone to call me back to see why my reservation was even accepted in the first place. Surprise surprise I was very disappointed when I didn’t hear from them. I would have appreciated a call to let me know that they were not going to be open. I would have gladly picked up the microphones a day or two in advance. Instead my whole weekend was ruined because I did not have the equipment necessary to run my session. Needless to say I will not be returning to Micworks in the future.
