The Boyden library is a staple in the town of Foxboro. It has recently been renovated and is beautiful inside and out. There are four floors: The ground level with videos, cd’s, items on hold, returns, and a self check out kiosk. There is also a kitchen and function room for presentations on the first floor. The second floor or floor 1 is the main level with computers, tables, conference areas, and mostly adult reference materials. The third or floor 2A is the café level where you can bring your food and relax or work at tables. There is a bridge access from the café level to the children’s level or floor 2C. This is the newly built section of the library as everything has been renovated from the original building. The children’s section is bright and welcoming. The staff is knowledgable and so friendly. They have become like a second home for my daughter. They constantly offer bookmarks, stickers, and incentives for kids to read. There is an arts and crafts room for activities and reading time. This library is really working with modern technology. Everything is scanned and you can renew books online and place holds for books from other libraries through the interactive SAILS network. The bathrooms are clean and there is a larger family sized bathroom on the children’s floor with a changing table. If you’re new to town or looking for somewhere safe and friendly while in vacation, please come visit. They also offer many guest presentations as well as guest or discounted passes to a variety of museums and events around boston and other Massachusetts sites. We love the Boyden library!

The Boyden Library has gotten even better since it’s redesign. It was always great and thanks to the Sails service it is so easy to get books and movies sent right to you! The new layout is fantastic and keeps the best of the old while bringing an architecturally stunning new addition. The service at the library is top-notch and the library itself offers the best of a small town with all the modern and cutting edge technologies that make libraries relevant in the modern day. The Boyden Library is a must visit!

Books and art Boyden Library is the town library of Foxborough. It was built in 1967 and is an exceptionally pleasant library with lots of open spaces and places to relax and read or do research. It definitely has a a new and efficient feel to it and lacks any real historic ambiance. It has all the amenities of the typical newer library including the pleasant and helpful librarians. It probably looks a lot larger than it really is because of all the open space. Very nice to be able to walk around without worrying about bumping into someone else. One of the cool things about Boyden are the large number of paintings displayed on the wall. It’s fun to just walk around looking at the collection of art and displays. Certainly nothing compared to some of the art museum library hybrids like the Redwood Library in Newport but still pretty impressive. Since this library is so pleasant and well laid out I was surprised to learn that it is about to be expanded and renovated. It was going to be moved temporally to a new location while the work was done but the project was delayed because of disagreements about the new design. I guess some folks thought the rather radical new plans were too modern and radical for the historical and conserved town. I’m not sure exactly when the work will start but it will happen sooner rather than later. It’s nice that the local people are concerned about how the library will look when it is finally completed. The pleasant, spacious and homey feel of the present building is definitely something to emulate in the new construction.
