Sullivan Tire & Auto Service

I am long since out of the automotive industry but spent a number of years turning wrenches, service writing, and managing similar retail automotive repair facilities. In short I retain enough history and experience to know when I’ve come across a great collection of HONEST people in the automotive services field.
When I moved to Metro West 4 years ago and was dislocated from my previous service providers, I was anxious to say the least. I own and drive two turbo charged cars, one of which is tuned and somewhat modified and am apprehensive to say the least when handing the keys to anyone, even for an oil change. I’m also ready to call BS on anyone who may not know I fully understand automotive repair backwards and forwards, and am not shy about it.
I’m am very pleased to say, I’ve been coming to this Sullivan location for 3 years after trying other similar local service providers, and I will rue the day I move again. At Sullivan I found a great team of individuals from the folks at the counter to the individuals in the shop who always make me feel welcome when I need to peek at something underneath or want to better understand a description of something.
In short these guys have always been very honest, fair, courteous, and beyond willing to work with me to figure out the best way to handle a complex repair (and always more than willing to get me in and out in a hurry, whenever feasible, even for the simple unexciting ones).
I don’t to a lot of reviews (which I need to fix!), but felt compelled to help a business that completely deserves some praise (which in the automotive industry is hard to come by – people are generally not pleased about parting with their money to keep their car healthy unfortunately).
If you read some of the negative reviews, please take them with a grain (or a bucket of salt). There are some folks out there who simply don’t understand (or don’t want to) the guidance they are being given, or the origin of certain rules being applied (such as with state inspections). In many cases these folks are unfortunately the messenger of news customers don’t want to hear, and wrongly take out on them.
In short, take it from someone who has been in the industry – these folks are fair, nice, and enjoyable people to work with. The next time you need help with your car or tires give them a shot!

No thanks! Brought my Jeep in to have an airstem valve replaced. Within 5 minutes of them having the car they came out to tell me, «your lugnuts and wheel lock lugnut were torqued last time someone touched your tires so when we tried to take the wheel lock lugnut off your lugnut key snapped» So from there they said it would be a minimum of 1 hour labor per wheel (5 tires) to remove the lug nut at over $ 100 per hour. Little did they know, NO ONE had touched the tires since them when they put them on last but that didn’t matter to them they refused to do the work for free. I asked can’t i just buy a new wheel key and was told «they don’t sell replacements anyway, if your dealer doesn’t have one you have no options but to pay us to take them off» I left, did about 5 minutes of research and was able to order a replacement lugnut key for my car for $ 14. so if i had trusted them it would have been over $ 500 to get these off but rather it has now cost me $ 14. So between them damaging my car, lying to me, and not taking responsibility for something they did, I can safely say I will never go back here for service. TAKE YOUR CAR TO A TRUE MECHANIC AND BUILD THAT RELATIONSHIP. OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE PEOPLE LIKE THIS TRYING TO TAKE YOU FOR EVERY DOLLAR YOU HAVE

Worst service ever! I had an apt for my truck. It needed a battery, brakes and tires. I arrived at 7am and the counter guy was very confused. After about 20 minute of waiting for him to wake up, I told him «brakes, battery and tires, I’ll wait». After about an hour and a half he tells me that the battery tested good and the brakes and tires are fine. I explained to him that I was a mechanic for 30 years. The battery is junk cause the truck sat for 6 months and I load tested it. The brakes have 45,000 miles, the wear indicator is rubbing and the rotors are warped. An hour later he came back and said «the battery was at 40% so we replaced it. The brakes are at 6 mm so those and the tires should last until fall.» I looked outside and they pulled my truck out. It was obvious that they simply didn’t want to do the work. It’s a 2013 Silverado with 45k miles.
Complete waste of time and money. I’ll bring my fleet elsewhere!

Let me first say that i received what i paid for. However, after spending 900 $ plus on new tires, I feel the overall experience left alot to be desired. The staff was super friendly and took me earlier than my scheduled time. When paying my bill… i noticed the additional «service plan» had been added. As this is OPTIONAL. i wondered why this wasnt offered to me but added without my knowledge. The Tire rebate wasnt offered… i had to ask when leaving if it was still offered. Driving home… my newly aligned car was NOT aligned. Steering wheel was pulling… so had to return days later to correcrt this. We all work hard for our money and try to choose whete to spend it… felt letdown by this business

today i call in for mount a pair of tire. tire are off the rim already. the guy told me they charge $ 100 each tire. so $ 200 for one pair. 10 times more than other.

This place used to be great. SOMETHING CHANGED THOUGH.
Wife went in for an inspection & they told her the exhaust system was damaged to the tune of $ 2,500. They said it was rusted out and had holes in it.
They said it was a major safety concern and that she would get arrested for driving home with a R sticker, but they could fix it right away.
She knew better than that.
Brought it to our mechanic, put it up on the lift, NOTHING wrong with the exhaust system at all! NO rust, NO holes.
Don’t be fooled by these crooks.

Went here to get my tires balanced I had gone to townfaire but they were over booked and I was out of town and needed this service done so the next open location was this place I asked Norman to balance my tires and have a wheel alignment I asked him if they match their competitors prices since I had been to townfaire tire and they would do the whole thing for 99.00 dollars he says that they don’t because townfaire tire does not have qualified techs and that they don’t do toe in and out and that Sullivan tire does and they have real tech here which I find all of this to be bull but since I need the services done I agreed to it even if it was going to cost me 52 dollars more then he comes back and says I don’t need a wheel alignment and that he was only going to balance the tires so they balance the tires I leave out of this place and the problem was still the same as when I walked in so I had to pull over and change the tires from front to back so I could drive home I went in on Monday to my usual place where I do business and they tell me that not only did Sullivan tire did not balance all of my 4 tires but they also did not even balance them right my local shop balanced them and problem solved as for me I will never go to another Sullivan tire ever and don’t get conned for the gimmick that Norman is trying to sell that other places don’t have quality techs since they do they are certified as well he just didn’t want to honor his competitors prices and when you charge someone to do all four tires make sure you balance all four I didn’t pay for just 2 and do it right.

These are top-​notch people. I bought four new tires and the service was friendly and fast.
Then they went above and beyond when making a mistake. They told me that the manufacturer (Yokohama) was running a $ 60 mail-​in rebate and gave me the manufacturer’s form to fill out. So I sent everything in to Yokohama and then Yokohama came back to me with «invalid product for this rebate». I took this back to the store, and they immediately apologized and refunded me $ 60. Win!

Really friendly people. Great price. Super fast service. I called the day before to get tires for a trip I was going on they got me 4 tires for under $ 400. The next day I came in and they did the installation in under 30 minutes and on top of that they prioritized my car since I needed to get to work ASAP. While I was waiting and it was dead in the store itself me and the guy at the register had a great chat about the stuff they find in peoples tires, did you know its possible to get a railroad spike to puncture your tire. If you didn’t it can and it does not look good. They do have coffee on site which is great, especially at 730AM.

I called today to ask about pricing for brakes. The level of service there is excellent! Both Pat and Pat were on top of everything as far as pricing, contacting me with info and when the car was ready. With other shops, I’ve had to call them to get an update, but this is the second car I have serviced here and that’s never been an issue here. We got ceramic brakes which were $ 300 cheaper than the dealer.

On our way from NY to Cape Cod, we developed a tire leak. We found Sullivan Tire with Unilocal.We called and they couldn’t have been nicer. They found our problem but the tire was beyond repair and they didn’t have an exact match. Instead of trying to sell us 2 tires which we would have needed to be safe using a different brand, they made a phone call and found a place nearby with our exact tire so we only needed one. Then they put our tire back on the rim and the wheel and sent us on our way. No Charge! A half hour later we had our new tire and were all set, for half of what it would have cost if they hadn’t gone out of their way for us. Wonderful. Amazing. Trustworthy. And free wifi too while you wait.

The guys here rock! Fast service, and very warm customer service.

Sullivan Tire Has Gone Over to the «Dark Side of the Force»! I have used Sullivan Tire in Framingham ever since I moved to Massachusetts in 2006. I used them because they were (at that time) provided good service and appeared to be quite honest in their dealings with customers. Unfortunately, I will NEVER got back to them again because that honesty and good service has changed.
Here’s what happened:
Last winter, I had my regular tires taken off and my snow tires put on. At that time, Sullivan gave me back my regular tires, wrapped in bags, because they were all deemed good for another year. However, when summer came and I went back to Sullivan for the tire swap, the guy behind the desk was somebody I had never met before. This new guy told me that ALL the tires were too bad to be put back on the vehicle. I asked him that – if this were so – then why did Sullivan let me take all the tires back home when I put the snow tires on? He continued to claim that he didn’t know, but that all the tires were bad – too bad to be driven on – all four of them. He NEVER offered to show me the problems with the tires, but he did seem very anxious to take the tires off my hands since they were supposedly «no good.» I was suspicous, and I told him I’d take the tires elsewhere.
Upon returning home, I showed the tires to two friends who know a lot about cars. Both said that the tires looked just fine. Finally, I had time to take the tires to another place. I told them what Sullivan had said and instructed them to not put the tires back on if any of them were bad.
GUESS WHAT? The second (non-​Sullivan) store said the tires were just fine and posed no danger for my upcoming road trip to Canada. They gladly put them back on for me.
I can’t believe that a store that was once so good has now sunk to this level of dishonesty, but apparently this is the case with Sullivan Tire in Framingham. My recommendation: AVOID!!! The fellows running this store now obviously have no scruples about taking advantage of a woman customer.

Went to Sullivan Tire today after making an appointment online. I was very impressed with the level of service — from setting up the appointment to actually purchasing the tires.
I went online last night at 6:00 p.m. to make an appointment for 7:00 this morning. I received an e-​mail from Marie at 10:00 p.m. confirming the appointment. It was not an auto e-​mail; it was actually from Marie and I was able to e-​mail her back to ask questions. She was very quick to respond, even though it was pretty late.
This morning I was able to bring my car in at 7:00, as confirmed. Mike was great in explaining different options to me. I waited while I got 4 new tires and an alignment — they had me in and out so I could still get to work on time at 9:00.
Prices were the best I could find and I was given a $ 15 discount on my alignment. I was also eligible to receive an $ 80 rebate through Goodyear. Mike was very helpful in getting my rebate paperwork taken care of. I will definitely go back to Sullivan Tires for all of my future tire needs!

+ Good service. Techs were courteous. Prices are reasonable.
— Two hours wait for a «will get you in right away» for a new set of tires, no alignment, is way too long.
Not a place to go if you are in a hurry.

Pros:
– straightforward service from people who take time to explain what and why they recommend (Thank you John and Mike)
– instant advice — I called them from the car while on the Turnpike when one of the dashboard lights came on – they advised on whether it’s safe to keep driving, scheduled me an appointment, and instructed what to watch out for until the problem is fixed
– various discount offers (including military, Shaw’s supermarket, etc)
– availability on Saturdays from 8am
Notes:
– can’t provide some of the services, you still have to go to a dealership (this is not Sullivan Tire’s fault, but they way the automotive industry is set up in US)
– I never met the mechanics/​technicians who work on my car and didn’t have the chance to ask them some questions directly, which somehow leaves me with an uncomfortable feeling (no evidence that there is anything to worry about, just my gut would like to have gotten the good/​bad news from people who actually worked on the car)

I have had the unfortunate luck of blowing not one, but two tires during the last 6 months. Both times I have brought my car to Sullivan’s Tire without an appointment (or much money) and desperate for help.
The first trip that I had to make I was helped out by the Manager, John Dimascio. I explained to him the horrible ordeal that I had had the evening prior (my tire blew while I was inside the tunnel on the Mass Pike) and that I had to be at work ASAP. He was super friendly, got my car in immediately and did not even charge me for the disposal of the smelly blown tire that was in my trunk. Total cost to me was $ 25.
On my second trip there I was helped out by the Assistant Manager, Ryan Collins, who was an incredible help. He not only called around for the best possible tire to fit my budget, but he immediately sent someone out to go get it while he helped me out with a credit application to pay for everything. He was also a big help with explaining the tire specials that would be coming up for me (once I saved up enough money to get a pair of tires that my car is supposed to have). I was in and out of there in an hour.
My only «imperfect» experience with this Sullivan’s Tire was that on my second trip to the business I asked them to please check the air in all 4 of my tires (I am not officially petrified that another one will blow). The assured me that they would, and I even double-​checked before I had and was told by the Manager that it had been done. Later that day as I walked to my car after work I noticed that my rear tire was very low (I hadn’t checked it when I left Sullivan’s). I brought it to a local gas station where an employee checked all of my tires for me. He explained that that tire was almost completely flat and that either the folks at Sullivan’s forgot to check that tire or I had caught a nail. It’s been 4 days and the tire has been fine, so I am left to assume that they just didn’t fill that one tire.
Overall, this is a great, reliable place to take your car where the people are friendly and the prices are reasonable.
