Found this B and B on and we couldn’t have hand picked a better place to spend or weekend getaway. We came up here for the ice castles but rushed back to see Shaun and Kalli in the pub. What a great team to run the bar. I had the crab cakes that were loaded with crab and a Greek salad with a twist. They grilled the romaine which added such a unique touch and a unique taste. My boyfriend ordered the steak tacos. He didn’t even need to add the sour cream because the steak tasted like carne asada and the pickled onions truelly made the dish. We reserved the roomed ahead of time and checking in was a breeze. The girl at the desk was very friendly, helpful and informative, we felt like we were at home. There are so many package options to choose from during your stay to help you save money. There are also plenty of activities to choose from, from horse pulled sleigh rides to ice skating to relaxing in the hot tub. We will definetly be back very soon and we will tell our friends of this amazing place. Sincerely Allison

We just spent three nights at the Inn and felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of. Having x-country and snowshoe trails at the doorstep(as well as an equipment rental shop) was a huge plus. The breakfasts are huge and hearty, and the one dinner we sampled was fine as well. There was a boisterous bar downstairs where we watched the Patriots triumph, and a hot tub which we admired from a distance. All in all, a fine, friendly place, the archetype of a good inn.

We were fortunate to have our Christmas dinner at the Franconia Inn. A small country inn full of atmosphere and Christmas bling. Our meal was excellent and the wine was wonderful. They had a children’s menu for the kids in the group and the adults were able to have beautifully cooked filet mignon and lamb.

This was the first time we stayed at this beautiful country inn. We stayed in the lower cottage which was very spacious but does not have a kitchen, however the bathroom is very large. The room was nice but really needs a deep cleaning. There was spider webs with live spiders in the closet and almost in every corner. The dust/dirt behind the furniture and along some of the floorboards was pretty gross. The only reason we noticed was because the kids misplaced some toys and we were trying to find them. The upstairs part of the cottage has a small kitchen and the bathroom is also small. We had the opportunity to see different rooms in the actual Inn. The rooms are cute but the décor is dated. It is an old structure so expect popping and cracking sounds when you walk throughout the inn. The downstairs part of the Inn has a game room with video games, ping pong and fuzzball table. It also has a separate TV room and an area to play darts. Also downstairs you have a bar area set up like a pub. It really is a nice area to hang out and relax with the family. There is also a pool and jacuzzi located just outside the pub area with a seating area. We took advantage and added the breakfast package to our stay, I would highly recommend it! We never had the opportunity to eat anything else but breakfast at the restaurant but if lunch or dinner is anything like breakfast — you will be very satisfied. I tried a different breakfast everyday I was there, everything I tried except some burrito dish was out of control just GREAT! By far Franconia serves the best breakfast I have EVER had! The service at the restaurant and the Inn was top notch! Everyone was friendly, helpful and will to do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. The Franconia Inn offers many outdoor activities unfortunately the our time and the weather was not favorable for us to part take in such activities but definitely worth researching what they have to offer. Can’t wait to go back.

Rooms are clean and tidy. Breakfast is very good with a nice variety of items cooked to order. Downstairs is a fun game room and pub area. Not a good choice if you want a romantic weekend if lots of children are staying in the inn(which was the case during our stay.) Since it’s an older structure, noise really carries… And breakfast is a bit chaotic!

My fiancée and I love it here. What a find! 10 minutes from anything & everything you want to do yet quiet enough to avoid all the kids in Lincoln. We embraced the«no TV» and the food offerings were amazing in both the Inn restaurant & pub.

What a delight! Our family of four stayed for 4 nights in mid-February. We opted to get only one room so it was a tight fit, but the Inn was accommodating with a roll-away and extra towels. We did the Bed/Breakfast/Dinner option for two nights and the Bed/Breakfast option the other two. The dining room upstairs is spacious and beautiful — white table cloths, candles on the tables, excellent service and delicious food. After four days we grew a bit tired of the menu options, but it was all very good. The electricity was out for a morning(hence no water either) and the kitchen served the most delicious pancakes we’ve had. The waiters were very personable, chatting with our kids and making us feel like family. We had dinner in the dining room the first two evenings and everything we had was yummy(crab cakes, tapenade bruschetta, salmon, lobster ravioli, prime rib). We thought we’d venture to nearby restaurants for dinner the last two nights, but we were so tired from our days of snow fun that we ended up eating in the lounge downstairs. The lounge has it’s own pub menu and you can also order anything from the upstairs dining room menu. The Inn has ice skating, a free tubing hill for the kids which was a big hit with our two 12 year olds, and extensive cross-country ski trails. Cannon Mtn is less than a 15 minute drive away and the Inn sells discount tickets($ 54 instead of $ 70 for adult all-day). Inside there are many cozy areas to relax. The large living room has a gas fireplace and three sitting areas. A game room is well stocked with books and board games. Downstairs there are a ping pong table, foosball, arcade games, darts, a theater room with a large screen(we watched Olympics each evening), and a large wood fireplace with roomy and comfortable couches. The lounge has room for quite a few people and the staff is great. We liked eating in the lounge because our kids could be entertaining themselves with games and other kids, letting us have a more peaceful dinner.

We wanted to watch the NFC championship football game and grab a nice bite to eat while skiing for the weekend and had a very bad experience at the Lounge, it took at least 20 minutes to get our order in and over an hour to get our food. The server was nice and food was fine but wouldn’t recommend this place to my friends.

Stayed there over the Memorial Day Weekend. First making the reservation wasnt that great of experience. When I asked who I was speaking to on the phone the person on the other end wasn’t initally willing to supply a name. Not a big deal but its nice to know Richard who your talking with. When we checked in we had about 4 – 5 bags in the reception area and no one offered any assistance going to the room. Just a point down the hall! Richard just went back into the office and let me make several trips. Hey I even get help at the Super 8! The room was fine, but a bit dated. Appears to be stuck in the 80’s. Some say it adds to the charm?(its dated) No TV which was OK, since we were there for the outdoor activity, but parents be advised! The WIFI wasnt reliable. Maybe to many people trying to use. When the Inn emptied it was fine. Food in the Pub was really good, and we ordered off the Resturant menu. Breakfast was provided and was decent. I really want to give 3 stars but the owner didnt seem to give us the attention we get from other similar Inns.(they should travel to Camden Maine and stay at the Camden Harbor for a lesson)

I have stayed at this Inn a couple of times. I have attended an event with friends and the Inn was rented just for the event. I must say, the staff are exceptional. The wait staff and chefs in particular go above and beyond to meet your needs. We ate all of our meals in the Inn and I must say the food was excellent. There was a variety of dishes and everything was cooked and seasoned wonderfully. The Inn is dated which adds to the charm of the old country setting. There are a couple of sitting areas with roaring fires to keep you warm while hanging out and relaxing. There is also a game room where you can watch a movie or play games. The rooms are very dated and the bathrooms are pretty ancient. There are no televisions, however they do have WIFI which is free for guests. The atmosphere is very charming and cozy.

Our stay here was quite enjoyable. The inn is big and cozy with a lovely dining room where they serve breakfast and dinner, a lounge with a fireplace, bar, games and a movie room. There are no TVs or Wifi in the rooms, which was a nice touch, since we were really looking for a weekend away. Instead of watching TV before bed, we sat downstairs and played cards by the fire. And it was absolutely beautiful covered in snow. My only complaint as far as the inn goes is the walls are paper thin. We could hear the whispers coming from the room next to us. The restuarnat /dining room downstairs looked very quaint and classy, but the service wasn’t great and the food was hit or miss. When the waitress read the specials to us she said they had«a mussel special and a crab cake special and a scallop special»…uh, tell me more please! We ended up ordering the crab cake special, which was a frozen crab cake with some spicy aoli on it(not to delicious). For dinner I got the Pork Osso Buco with mashed and he got the Rack of Lamb with risotto. Everything on my plate was great, the pork tender, and falling off the bone with a delicious mushroom gravy. His lamb was also cooked perfectly, but the risotto, while full of flavor was undercooked. For dessert we got the lava cake which was(duh) amazing. It was our anniversary, and apparently the boy had called ahead to make them aware and requested a special dessert and they assured him they were writing a note next to our reservation. Somehow it was lost in translation because we never got that dessert. Oh well. Breakfast: basic and good, we both got eggs which were cooked well. The wheat toast seemed locally fresh, but the sausage was frozen. All in all… not a bad place to stay for a weekend getaway.

Day 1 of our NH mountain bike weekend. We headed to Franconia to check out the riding. We hope someday to move here. By chance we called the inn and they had a room available. The inn is a few minutes outside the center of Franconia in a beautiful mountain setting. Truly a soul soothing location. It is an old inn but is impeccably maintained. The restaurant is excellent, breakfast was exceptional and the bar service is great. Grounds are beautiful which includes a horse stable and bike shop. Nice pool and hot tub top of the list. The mountain biking by the way is great and it is going to get better with the efforts of the owner of the inn as I would later learn over a few beers with him. We met the owner and his incredibly nice wife in the bar and talked mountain biking and all things Franconia until midnight. He offered me a complimentary shot and of course I obliged with a good single malt. We will be loading are bikes and heading back up very soon. Even if you are not into outdoor activities but love the white mountains go there and just enjoy the beauty. PS — there are thankfully no outlets or story land over here just good down to earth people.

We had a great time. Clean, comfortable, and friendly. Amenities are great with lots of activities. We went horseback riding and watched as the gliders came down. The views of the mountains are gorgeous. Location is perfect. We did some hiking nearby at the flume and the basin. Looking forward to returning.

If you need two rooms for a trip up to the NH area, the Franconia Inn is definitely one of the better deals you will get! They have a «family suite» which is really two separate bedrooms(one with a full bed and the other with two twins) that link to a shared bathroom for way way less than what you will pay for two individual rooms. Plus they had an awesome breakfast deal so that combined with the room rate, made this quite the affordable two night stay! They do not have free wifi in the bedrooms in case that is something you need, but they really just want you to relax from your busy life while you are here. They do have it available in the lobby/sitting area, so you can sit in front of the fire place and listen to the fire crackle while you check your email, and really what could be better than that? And their breakfast is actually pretty good! And you get a ton of food if you do the breakfast included in your room option! You get to order anything off that menu plus unlimited coffee and juice and a pastry cereal fruit bar too! They have a pub area downstairs with some games you can use to pass the time, plus a ping pong table and darts and some video games. You can tell that in the winter that downstairs area must be bopping, because even in fall while being leaf peepers there was a fair amount of people there(although many go to bed pretty early ha ha). They didn’t mind us bringing our own bottle of wine to sip while playing scrabble, but they also have a full bar down there too, which maybe stays open later in the real winter season? Seemed to close pretty early to me, but that is the NH way! Early to bed and early to rise! They even have bikes you can borrow for free, horse carriage rides, their own cross-country ski track, the list goes on and on. The heat was a little hard to manage at first in our room, and during the storm that was there the windows seemed to rattle some, but that comes with staying in such a historic and picturesque inn. It really does make you feel like you have escaped into the country. Thanks, Franconia Inn. **Note: Since there isn’t a separate listing just for the restaurant, be sure to watch out at dinner for chefs and waiters not really knowing their food dishes! Matt J. had gotten their steak with a chimichurri sauce, but it really had a brown gravy which is clearly not parsley based. Even when we asked, they insisted that they had made the dish correctly… so just watch out for that!

I stayed here over the winter while I was doing some hiking. It was a great«home base.» It’s a rustic country inn with wood paneling and heavy window treatments. The room was a little chilly at first but warmed up well, although through the night the radiator sounded like a little factory. The breakfast was good, but very big servings. Dinner was ok, again, huge servings. I had to pack doggie bags each night — even after I’d hiked for 8 hours in the snow! The best part was sitting by the fireplace with a book and a glass of wine with the other guests, just watching the comings and goings. And the shower(remember, I’d hiked all day) was amazing. Very hot, good pressure and lasted a long time. There was wifi and an AT&T phone signal, which is nice to have up there. It’s a little pricier than where I normally stay, but I would stay there again.

A really nice and cozy place to stay. We stayed with the kids in the Kinsmann Cottage, lower level, and it’s pretty noisy down there with people above you. But with old places like this, I think you have to expect that. Still, if you’re in the cottage, try to be the noisemaker, not the noise-receiver! Didn’t stay in the main house, but I saw the rooms and they looked great. All very cozy. The breakfast in the morning was amazing! Delicious. Ate dinner at the pub below the restaurant. Food was pretty eh, at best. And very expensive. I’d skip that place. Only other complaint would be to have a couple more blankets on hand for cold nights. We were a little chilly. But all in all, a very nice stay.

Had dinner here with my wife a few weeks ago during a family vacation to the area. Was highly recommended by someone we randomly had a conversation with in a shop in Franconia. Thought we’d give it a try. Enjoyed our experience quite a bit. The Inn is a bit of a throwback to high-end vacation destinations of years gone by. The Inn seems as though it’s been kept nicely up to date — you don’t get the feeling like the place is forever stuck in a time warp like you do other places from the same genre. The restaurant is not large. The décor is traditional, but not overly stuffy. We had a table by the window facing the grass airstrip across the road — was cool to see the small planes and gliders taking off and landing while we were eating our meals. The food was great. Delicious and nicely presented. Service was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and responsive and clearly cared a lot about his customers’ experience. We’re typically into more modern places. But, the Inn and our experience there fit right in with what we hoped for from a vacation in central NH.
