I was expecting a lot more from Frankenmuth Brewery. Our server was not attentive and needed multiple friendly reminders to refill drinks and so on. The beer itself was nothing to write home about. Not bad but not great. I had a sandwich(I think it was a club) that had soggy bread when it got to me. My husband had French onion soup which he said was good. Outdoor seating was a plus. Overall, I would not recommend this place to a friend mostly due to poor service and not fantastic food.

We waited about an hour and a half to be seated during dinner hours. But the wait was well worth it! We ordered the buffalo chicken wraps as an appetizer, they were delicious! I tried the Old Detroit Ale, I’m not usually a fan of craft beers– however this beer was pretty enjoyable. It had a nice caramel and coffee taste. I had the burrito and my friend had the ravioli. Both of our dinners were very good and we had plenty of leftovers(good sized portions). For dessert I had the cheesecake. There is a spacious outdoor patio eating area and the restaurant has an awesome view over the river. I would definitely recommend the Frankenmuth Brewery to anyone looking for a cool atmosphere, good beers, and good food!

The service was awesome, the menu was great! We had a hard time deciding. Ended up with the boneless wings for an appetizer, the lobster Mac and cheese and the cowboy burger. A little bummed because we were hoping for a larger selection of German fare, but what we got was amazing. The beer selection was good. We ended up getting a flight to try the different ones. I’m a lighter beer drinker and not a huge I PA fan, but I enjoyed the Little Bavaria Pils and the Twisted Helles the best. Olé Detroit was a good choice too. Will go back again next time we’re in Frankenmuth!

Ribs = five stars. Everything else was alright. The bratwurst plate was an enormous portion — the brats themselves were huge, the mashed potatoes were pretty good, and the sauerkraut was not great. Hostesses at front were rather indifferent, but our waitress was quite friendly. Kids meals were nice, and my brother-in-law seemed to enjoy his fancy grilled cheese sandwich. But i would definitely return for the ribs!

My boyfriend and I drove from flint to come check this place out. I got the French onion and Michigan navy bean and ham, which were both cold. Nonetheless, we proceeded to order dinner. I got a fried perch sandwich on a pretzel bun, and him the crab cakes. His crab cakes tastes like mush and bell peppers. There was no tank to it, no pepper, no flavor; nothing. My perch sandwich was a few small pieces of something. I will attach a picture. DONTWASTEYOURTIME!

Lobster Mac was delicious and the beer menu offers a nice range of choices. Wait staff was exceptionally courteous and helpful with recommendations. I would definitely suggest this as a lunch spot or somewhere to grab a beer in between shopping trips.

Ambiance: Came here the day after Christmas and the place was packed for dinner with a 20 minute wait. The place is your typical brewery feel but it did feel a little unprofessional having stacks of beer for sale along the wall, made it feel like a grocery store. We grabbed a beer though and hung out until our buzzer went off. Staff were friendly and we had no issues. Food: We ordered a flight of beer and must say our favorite was the stout and the pumpkin ale. Many of the other beers had a medicinal hoppy taste which I wasn’t a fan of. Food-wise we really enjoyed the buffalo mac which was thankfully NOT restrained in its buffalo, bleu, or cheesy flavors. The reuben on swirl rye was savory and tasty, my only wish would have been for an extra ounce of both corned beef and kraut to make it heartier. The burger my wife got was also OK with a hearty bun and minimally over-cooked patty. Overall we enjoyed our meal. The food is good but not gourmet or mind-blowing by any means. I’d say it’s on par if not a smidge below the fare at a Hard Rock Café. We’ll probably experiment with other places when we come back but wouldn’t be too sad if we came here again.

The Great: Frankenmuth Christmas Town is one of my favorite beers. Everytime we are in town over the holidays we buy a case or two. Winter of 2015 we managed to buy a case after Thanksgiving and buy another at Christmas, just to drink half of it in the first three days. It’s that good. The Good: They have a large back patio with a gorgeous view of the river. However, I’ve never been there at a time when eating outside would be feasible as it’s always been way too cold. They also have complimentary pretzels available after 4pm if you ask for them. Make sure you do so at all hours, sometimes they are ready early. The OK: I’ve had a few items here and for the area everything is pretty good. It’s not worth really writing home about, but I wasn’t displeased. The chicken nachos were a massive amount of food, but tasted like cubed chicken on store-bought chips. The pub food looked like the right choice, and I would be curious to try the pizzas. Service is also typically good, every waiter is friendly and knowledgeable about the beer and menus. The Bad: Some of the tables are isolated and the restaurants has always been cold. However, that might just be me, a southerner who is cold 95% of the time I’m further north than the Ohio-Michigan border. The WTF: The brewery closes at 10pm on Friday and Saturday? In a town with very few bars I would expect them to be open later. My friends and I have stayed until close multiple times now and watches the waitstaff close down and clean all of the other tables, to sit and watch us before we decide to leave.

Wow!!! Tis the season to be «anti-jolly!!!» What a difference a year can make!!! This is only our second time here and we’re sitting at a high top and was told from the server/bartender(named Brandon) to go up to the bar if we want a drink. …No hello, I will be right with you… Nothing! Then we stood at the bar for 20 mins to be greeted by a rude bit**.(Don’t know her name but she was short with blonde hair) Anyways… To say the least we’re not eating here and never will! Service sucks and the beer is great! Up to you if you decide if you want to risk your day being served by absolutely rude service!!!

After many years visiting the town of Frankenmuth, finally decided to visit this brewery/restaurant. Let’s begin the review with parking. The location has a VERY small lot in front. If you’re lucky a spot might be open, otherwise plan on parking across the street behind the hotel and walking… not unusual for this town. They have a variety of seating areas. We sat in the bar booths. Appears they have a nice elevated patio open in summer next to river, already closed for season when we visited. They have a few seats along Windows by the river too, but they appear to fill fast. Our server was prompt and courteous. Delivered drink selections within about 3 – 4 min. I tried the Christmas Town ale on draft. It was a nice Amber color with a crisp finish, and I detected a hint of spice(maybe cinnamon?) We asked about the menu and she offered popular choices and her favorites. We tried the buffalo chicken rolls as an appetizer. These are very tasty and were perfectly cooked. They are served with a blue cheese vinaigrette and a ranch dressing. Both were good with the rolls I chose the Michigan bean and ham soup. It arrived barely at room temp. First thing I noticed was very salty too. We flagged down our server and she took care of it immediately with a fresh, piping hot cup. This time the flavor was much better. Beer cheddar soup also was room temp when it arrived, so this was also exchanged for a hot cup. It was enjoyable and comes with crunch pretzel like croutons. French onion soup was room temp also so we asked to exchange it. The new order was hot, chock full of flavor. Sorry to say we did not try anything else… full from these few items. Looking forward to trying again in the future.

I would have liked to have given this place another shot since the last time I was a tad I dissatisfied with the food. I came in here over the weekend with my family there were 5 adults and 3 toddlers it was around 7 in the evening. As soon as we walked in the host Megan, looking at us like a deer in head lights asked us how many and then paused and said I’m going to have to see how long the wait will be and I’ll be right back. When she came back she told us it would be about a 35 minute wait. We took the pager and then I proceeded to walk around the restaurant where there were plenty of tables available. I watched her seat a party of 6 adults that came in after us. The kids of course we’re being kids and we’re getting a bit anxious. I started to feel like maybe they or maybe just Megan did not welcome us because of our kids. After watching numerous people get sat we decided to leave. I have never in my life felt discriminated until that evening. I will not be coming back to this establishment in the future.

Sit outside if you can along the river. The views are great. The service here is super friendly. The beers are yummy too I had a maple brown ale, super sweet and rich. The food was just ok, basic bar food but its hot and comes in a big portion size. I got the Michigan salad it was ok would have been better if they did not use ice berge lettuce. The fruit on the salad was tasty as well as the dressing it had a great zip.

For the record my father in law loves Christmastown, the almost famous and almost perfect Christmas beer for a Michigander on a cooped warm winter night as the snow pierces the outside. I like it too. But this not a story of Christmastown the beer. This is a story a search for how the hell a good beer like Christmastown made it out of such a horrible brewery like it is. FB(Frankenmuth Brewery) has the possibility to be a truly remarkable establishment. Recommended by the locals I found myself in more in a tourist trap than a local place with truly good food. Fully loaded with people in a beautiful establishment, I curiously followed the copper piping through the walls and thought, that is were the magic is. I couldn’t smell food from the kitchen, even though I was surrounded by it, and my taste buds screamed for a nice tall refreshing beer. I was hoping for a great experience. Boy was I wrong. Eventually our server came around handed out the menus, asked for our drinks. I ordered their crafted Oktoberfest beer. I even ordered the extra large. I was that thirsty. I screwed up by not sampling the beer. When I got it, the bus boy, not our waiter plopped it on the table, spilling the head off of the beer. Didn’t apologize, and just walked away into the crowd. I looked at it carefully into the light. I couldn’t see through it. I did notice I didn’t see any carbonation. It looked flat. I smelled the beer, no smell. I even had my other half smell it. Nothing. I sipped it. It was amber gold water. What a waste. You would think a Bavarian town would get its Oktoberfest right. This beer was no Christmastown. A poor representation has turned me away from any of the companies other beers. Then came the beer cheese soup I ordered as as an app. It looked like melted cheese whiz out of a can, thick, microwaved, and sad. I bit into it and I was right. It was ice cold except on the top. I had the waiter return it and he said the burners weren’t on the kettle so it never heated up. To me that means nobody eats the soup. I can taste why. It was 3 in the afternoon and nobody turned the burners on the soup? That’s a cheese combination no whiz can handle. The food. Oh god the food. I ordered chicken Alfredo. What Alfredo? There was none in my bowl. There was oil, some onion slices, two pieces of mushroom, and a huge red pepper on top. That’s not Alfredo. The cheese was lacking so bad I could have sworn we where having a cheese shortage. Bavarian. Bavarian. If you can’t get your hand crafted cheese from the town your established in, you have no right to exist. Also, the noodles where so over cooked they had no flavor and you could tell the microwave had done them in a while back. Thus that was the end of the meal. Three bites in and I mysteriously got full to the point of not wanting another bite. Someone in the kitchen was having a bad day. I’m guessing this is the normal. Enjoy your Christmastown in season at home. I may be a grinch, but damn, even I would’t take the spirit of Christmas out of this place. They have none to take.

Beer is pretty good. Food is hit or miss. Heads up for early bird special. Food service stops at 10pm on weekends. Heads up! We did New Years here and that ends shortly after midnight. Pizza is good. Cheese soup B+. Salads are ok. Pretzel ball app is sometimes frozen in the middle. Sometimes perfect. Not many options in Frankenmuth we always come back. Good beer specials.

My mom and I came to Frankenmuth for a girls’ night out. The brewery was our first stop, which was walking distance from our hotel. I’m not a huge fan of their bottled beer. I don’t think I’ve bought any since I first tried it. It was ok, but nothing to rave about. I had a much better experience at the brewery. It’s a really good sized brewery. They have an outdoor area that is probably awesome in the summer. I think they even had a wedding there on the 2nd floor? I really enjoyed the beers that I tried. It exceeded my expectations. I had a belgian IPA, and Ted Nugget IPA. I’m sure I had another. They were all great. I wanted to try more, but we had to move on to the next bar. If I had a cooler for a growler, I would’ve brought some home. Can’t wait to go back with the husband! :)

Been waiting for the right time to stop in and crush a meal here. Frankenmuth Brewery is a staple in town and for good reason. Open layout with multiple dining experiences including a private room, patio overlooking Cass River, great food, and of course, awesome beer. Staff is accommodating and friendly. I let them know it’s my first visit and Jarrid took his time to recommend house specialities. «The Piedmontese burger is great but it’s also very lean. I like flavor and the regular burger has more fat. The more fat, the more flavor.» Sound logic here, so I ordered the regular as advised. Started off with the Buffalo Chicken Rolls(very tasty), dove into a cup of French Onion(worthy), then had the Bavarian Bratwurst(just a taste). Ended the sit with the bacon cheeseburger and fries well done. Leaving satisfied, tired, and happy. Does anyone know if Über works on this side of town?

Stopped in for lunch on a cold and snowy day. Inside the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The main dining hall is very large and open with tall ceilings. It almost felt like we were in another country. We ordered a few beers and a bunch of sandwiches etc. I got the Navajo chicken sandwich(it was alright) with fries(good!) and French onion soup(delicious!!!). Everyone in our party enjoyed their food — the only non positive comment was about the sauce on the mountain of meatloaf sandwich. It was good, but I guess my friends expected the sauce to be gravy, but it was bbq sauce. Waitstaff were really friendly and attentive. She refilled my water often and when the beers got down to 1⁄3 full, asked if we would like more. Overall was a good experience. Would come back the next time I’m in town.
